- Hand Eczema Referred for Patch Testing: Retrospective Study in Shanghai, China From 2018 to 2023. [Journal Article]J Dermatol. 2026 Jul 12. [Online ahead of print]JD
- Hand eczema (HE) imposes a significant socioeconomic burden, particularly in severe and occupational cases. To identify major allergens and associated factors in Chinese patients with HE referred for patch testing, we conducted a retrospective cohort study included 788 cases of HE detected from 4438 patients who were patch-tested in Shanghai, China, between 2018 and 2023. The HE group had an 82.2…

- Hypersensitivity reactions associated with nutraceuticals and dietary supplements: A narrative review. [Review]Asian Pac J Allergy Immunol. 2026 Jun; 44(2):283-296.AP
- The global use of nutraceuticals and dietary supplements-including vitamins, minerals, probiotics, and botanical extracts-has increased substantially, driven largely by consumer perceptions of safety and health benefits. However, their potential to cause hypersensitivity reactions (HSRs) is underrecognized. This review synthesizes published case reports, case series, systematic reviews, and pharm…

- Delayed-type drug hypersensitivity reactions in a tertiary adult allergy clinic: A 5-year cohort study. [Journal Article]Allergol Immunopathol (Madr). 2026; 54(4):1-10.AI
- CONCLUSIONS: Antibiotics, especially beta-lactam antibiotics and NSAIDs, were the leading culprit drugs. Polypharmacy complicates culprit identification, particularly in SCAR cases, underscoring the need for cautious prescribing and avoidance of unnecessary medications.

- Deep learning based automated HER2 score prediction using immunohistochemistry histopathological images: a dual-center study. [Journal Article]Front Physiol. 2026; 17:1868102.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: A deep learning framework showed encouraging patch-level performance for three-class HER2 IHC score prediction in a pooled dual-center retrospective cohort. This approach may assist pathologists by improving scoring consistency and identifying borderline or low-confidence cases that require careful review and, when clinically indicated, confirmatory testing.

- Contact Allergy Screening for Atopic Dermatitis. [Review]Immunol Allergy Clin North Am. 2026 Aug; 46(3):521-532.IA
- Atopic dermatitis (AD) and allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) are common inflammatory skin diseases in both children and adults that present similarly and often coexist. Patch testing is the gold standard for establishing the diagnosis of ACD and can often help distinct between the 2 conditions. Patch testing is more challenging in patients with underlying AD due to potential for angry back reacti…

- Adherence and Compliance With Smoking Cessation in Primary Health Care. [Journal Article]Cureus. 2026 Jun; 18(6):e110448.C
- Background Smoking remains a major contributor to preventable disease and mortality. Although smoking cessation programs are widely implemented, quit rates remain low and relapse is common. Pharmacological therapies such as nicotine replacement therapy, varenicline, and bupropion can improve quit rates, but their real-world effectiveness is often limited by poor adherence. This study aimed to eva…

- Contact allergy to a titanium port catheter: Diagnostic challenges and clinical resolution. [Case Reports]Allergol Select. 2026; 10:145-150.AS
- CONCLUSIONS: Although very uncommon, contact sensitization to titanium medical devices can occur and may present significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Rigorous patch testing methodology, incorporating standardized tape-stripping and extended 168-hour readings, appears essential for detecting delayed-type hypersensitivity to metallic implants. Clinical resolution following biocompatible device substitution supports an allergic etiology in this case.

- Contact sensitization to hair care allergens in scalp seborrheic dermatitis: associations with disease severity and microbiota profiles. [Journal Article]Front Allergy. 2026; 7:1862176.FA
- CONCLUSIONS: Patients with SSD showed distinct sensitization patterns associated with clinical characteristics, barrier dysfunction, and scalp microbiota alterations. These findings suggest that patch test reactivity in SSD should be interpreted in the broader context of allergen exposure, skin barrier status, and microbial imbalance.

- Mechanistic constraints in dengue severity: a systematic review with evidence stratification and agent-based evaluation of logical sufficiency. [Systematic Review]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1831371.FI
- Severe dengue is a vascular immunopathology characterized by plasma leakage, thrombocytopenia, hemorrhage, and, in its most critical form, dengue shock syndrome. Although NS1-mediated endothelial injury, glycocalyx disruption, inflammatory myeloid activation, and coagulation/platelet abnormalities have all been implicated, it remains unclear which mechanisms are most consistently supported and wh…

- This study investigated the dermatological outcomes of a transferosomal gel encapsulating Niacinamide and Co-enzyme Q10 compared with a conventional base gel in healthy female volunteers over a 12-week period, with a particular focus on key biophysical and aesthetic skin parameters. Before human use, both formulations underwent primary skin irritation testing on rabbit skin, followed by a patch t…

- Glyphosate internal dose estimation: comparing passive dosimetry and biomonitoring in simulated heavy residential herbicide application. [Journal Article]Arh Hig Rada Toksikol. 2026 Jun 01; 77(2):84-95.AH
- Glyphosate exposure is commonly assessed using either passive dosimetry or biomonitoring. This study tests the hypothesis that internal dose estimates derived from passive dosimetry are higher and more uncertain than those derived from biomonitoring by comparing concurrently collected passive dosimetry and biomonitoring data from a controlled simulation of heavy residential herbicide application.…

- In vitro generation of human embryonic stem cell-derived heart organoids possessing physiological ion currents. [Journal Article]Regen Ther. 2026 Dec; 33:101156.RT
- CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that hHOs generated in this study retain physiological cardiac functions, as they recapitulate in vivo cardiac ion currents and cardiac muscle contraction, although their abilities remain limited. The present method for hHOs will contribute to understanding the fundamental mechanism of cardiogenesis and provide an alternative tool for cardiac safety assessment of newly developed drugs as an in vitro human ESC-derived test system.

- Multiplex Cytokine LTT Reveals Strong T Cell Responses to Multiple Drugs in NIDHR-Associated Multiple Drug Hypersensitivity. [Journal Article]J Allergy Clin Immunol Pract. 2026 Jul 02. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: This exploratory study demonstrates that the multiplex Cyto-LTT can detect drug-specific immune responses in NIDHR and may provide additional insight into immune activation patterns associated with MDH. These findings could provide useful insights for future studies on endotyping and risk stratification of NIDHR. Larger prospective studies are, however, required to formally establish diagnostic performance.
