  • Pharmaceutical Industry Payments to Patient Groups in Australia: A Longitudinal Analysis of a Decade of Disclosures. [Journal Article]
    Med J Aust. 2026 Oct; 224(10):e70294.Hooimeyer A, Mohammad A, … Mintzes BMJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: Industry funding of patient groups was widespread but skewed towards a small subset of groups and clinical areas. This may shift the focus of advocacy efforts towards certain conditions that align with current industry interests. Although further research is still needed on links between funding and patient group priorities, current disclosure measures may be insufficient to manage risks and access to other funding sources and additional safeguards may be needed to maintain independence.
  • Institutional neonatal care as a manifestation of modern biosocial cooperation. [Historical Article]
Cas Lek Cesk. 2026; 165(5):193-197.Smrček TCL
  • We don't see institutional neonatal care as a cold triumph of modern technocracy, but as the peak of an ancient human evolutionary strategy - biosocial cooperation and alloparenting. We trace care for vulnerable newborns from the evolutionary roots and selfless altruism seen in higher primates, through the deconstruction of myths about ancient eugenics with modern paleopathological findings in Gr…
  • The tRNA-Modification Geranyl-2-Thiouridine Enables RNA-Lipid Association. [Journal Article]
Angew Chem Int Ed Engl. 2026 Oct 04; :e9140489. [Online ahead of print]Singer J, Halter K, … Carell TAC
  • The packaging of RNA in lipid nanoparticles for protection and delivery was key for the development of mRNA vaccines and therapeutics. Formulation requires the addition of a variety of lipids (including cationic) in high amounts to form complexes with the negatively charged RNA. While this approach was successful for the development of RNA vaccines, it represents a major challenge for future deve…
  • Vestibular manifestations as the initial presentation of multiple sclerosis: a case series. [Journal Article]
Acta Otolaryngol. 2026 Oct 03; :1-10. [Online ahead of print]Elbadry MM, Hasan MM, … Refat FAO
  • CONCLUSIONS: Central vestibular signs in young adults presenting with vestibular symptoms should raise suspicion of an underlying central lesion and possible MS. Recognition of these signs, together with appropriate neuroimaging when clinically indicated, may facilitate earlier diagnosis during the clinically isolated syndrome stage.
