- Randomized Study About Influence of Food on the Pharmacokinetics of Disulfiram Metabolites in Healthy Individuals. [Journal Article]Eur J Drug Metab Pharmacokinet. 2026 Jul 10. [Online ahead of print]EJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Administration of a high-fat meal before a single oral dose of DSF promoted a significant increase in the pharmacokinetic parameters Cmax, AUCt and AUC∞ for both metabolites. We also observed an apparent proportionality between the doses studied and pharmacokinetic parameters AUCt and AUC∞ for both metabolites, indicating that metabolites may be good markers of exposure to DSF.

- Fractional order modelling of alcoholism: optimal control analysis and simulations with deep-neural network approach. [Journal Article]Cogn Neurodyn. 2026 Dec; 20(1):128.CN
- Classical integer-order models provide useful insights into alcoholism dynamics but cannot adequately capture the memory and hereditary effects associated with addiction, relapse, and recovery. In this work, the Caputo fractional derivative is used to study an alcoholism model describing susceptible to alcohol consumption ([Formula: see text]), moderate drinkers ([Formula: see text]), heavy drink…

- Neuroanatomical subtypes of preterm adolescents. [Journal Article]Mol Psychiatry. 2026 Jul 09. [Online ahead of print]MP
- Preterm infants have a higher risk for developing neurocognitive deficits and behavioral abnormalities across the lifespan, but the individual long-term neurobiological heterogeneity presents a challenge for developmental risk assessment and outcome prediction. Thus, we took advantage of the large sample size of the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development dataset to investigate neuroanatomical sub…

- Associations between trait impulsivity facets and alcohol-impaired driving risk perceptions. [Journal Article]Psychol Addict Behav. 2026 Jul 09. [Online ahead of print]PA
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that distinct impulsivity facets, particularly urgency, impact risk perceptions while impaired by alcohol. More research is needed to understand how these altered risk perceptions relate to engagement in actual risk behavior in real-world environments. - Economic Costs and Benefits of the Digital OurRelationship Program for Distressed Couples. [Randomized Controlled Trial]Fam Process. 2026 Sep; 65(3):e70177.FP
- Relationship distress is a prevalent issue with significant economic and societal consequences, including increased mental and physical health problems, decreased workplace productivity, and increased absences. Although couple therapy has been shown to improve relationship and individual well-being, its high costs limit accessibility. Digital relationship interventions provide a cost-effective al…

- PCSK9 as an Emerging Target for Cerebrovascular Dysfunction and Neuroinflammation in Ischemic Stroke. [Review]ACS Chem Neurosci. 2026 Jul 09. [Online ahead of print]AC
- Cerebrovascular disease is a leading cause of death and long-term disability worldwide, most commonly manifesting as ischemic stroke. The pathogenesis of ischemic stroke is largely driven by atherosclerotic diseases of the cerebral and extracranial vasculature, where lipid accumulation and vascular inflammation play central roles. Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) is a key med…

- Association of GLP-1 Receptor Agonist Prescriptions and Alcohol Consumption in the National Institutes of Health's All of Us Cohort. [Journal Article]Alcohol Clin Exp Res (Hoboken). 2026 Jul; 50(7):e70357.AC
- CONCLUSIONS: This study's findings indicate that GLP-1RAs may reduce alcohol consumption by decreasing use frequency. Experimental studies and randomized controlled trials are needed to test the mechanisms and potential efficacy of GLP-1RAs in people with AUD.

- Does Housing Eviction Modify the Effects of Alcohol Outlet Density on Hospitalizations for Assault and Alcohol Use Disorder in Pennsylvania? [Journal Article]Alcohol Clin Exp Res (Hoboken). 2026 Jul; 50(7):e70372.AC
- CONCLUSIONS: Reducing housing evictions may mitigate the impact of alcohol outlet density on AUD and assault. Future research, policy, and practice should explore opportunities for jointly addressing the alcohol environment and neighborhood housing conditions.

- Neuroinflammation, Glia-Neuron Crosstalk, and Energy Metabolism in Alcohol Use Disorder. [Review]Biochemistry (Mosc). 2026 Jun; 91(6):847-866.B
- Chronic alcohol and other psychoactive substance use is accompanied not only by disturbances in classical neurotransmitter systems but also by persistent activation of innate and adaptive immunity, leading to neuroinflammation. This review summarizes experimental and clinical data on how microglia and astrocytes act as central mediators at the intersection of immune, metabolic, and neuronal proce…

- Immediate Spirometric Response to Submaximal Exercise in Healthy Young Adult Males. [Journal Article]Cureus. 2026 Jun; 18(6):e110381.C
- CONCLUSIONS: A single bout of submaximal exercise produced significant immediate changes in spirometric parameters in healthy young adult males. Expiratory flow indices improved after exercise, while FVC decreased, and the FEV1/FVC ratio remained stable.

- A Bayesian Learning Model for Joint Risk Prediction of Alcohol and Cannabis Use Disorders. [Journal Article]Stat Med. 2026 Jul; 45(15-17):e70656.SM
- Substance use disorders (SUDs) are a serious public health concern in the United States. Alcohol and cannabis are two of the most widely used substances. For adolescent/youth users of alcohol or cannabis, we propose a joint Bayesian learning model to predict their risks of developing alcohol use disorder (AUD) and cannabis use disorder (CUD) in adulthood based on their personal risk factors. The …

- Prevalence and determinants of alcohol use disorder and its association with adherence to antihypertensive therapy among adult hypertensive patients in a hospital setting, Northwest Ethiopia. [Journal Article]Ann Med. 2026 Dec; 58(1):2699553.AM
- CONCLUSIONS: AUD is common among hypertensive patients and is significantly associated with poor adherence to antihypertensive therapy. Integrating alcohol use screening and intervention into routine hypertension care may improve medication adherence and treatment outcomes.
