- Inferior vena cava hyperechoic structure in a patient with cardiac myxoma: a surgical case report and literature review. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: We report a rare case of IVC hyperechoic structure mimicking a true thrombus in a patient with cardiac myxoma. This phenomenon may be related with spontaneous echo contrast and echocardiographic artifacts. Our case highlights an important diagnostic pitfall in echocardiographic assessment of the IVC and emphasizes the importance of integrating findings from multiple imaging modalities.

- Does the stria of Gennari integrity reflect acquired visual field defects? [Journal Article]
- Visual input reaches the primary visual cortex (V1) at the stria of Gennari, a band of highly myelinated fibers at the level of layer IV. Damage to the visual pathways can cause visual field defects (scotomas) that prevent visual input from reaching V1. Here, we evaluate whether the stria of Gennari degrades in the absence of visual input. Using 7 Tesla MRI, we investigate the integrity of the st…

- Inferior homonymous quadrantanopia as a bedside localizing clue in the emergency department. [Journal Article]Am J Emerg Med. 2026 Sep 09; 110:363-365. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the diagnostic importance of bedside visual field examination in emergency neurologic localization and underscores its role in uncovering binocular field deficits even when patients report monocular symptoms. Structured visual field assessment guides appropriate workups and ensures prompt definitive care.

- Clinical Reasoning: A 60-Year-Old Diabetic Woman With Fluctuating Visual Disturbances. [Case Reports]Neurology. 2026 Oct 13; 107(7):e218487.Neur
- Visual disturbances are a common presenting complaint in neurology, and the characteristics of these complaints combined with the examination findings are important in localization and then the generation of a complete differential diagnosis. Patients with diabetes, particularly in the setting of hyperglycemia, can have multiple reasons for vision changes localized throughout the visual pathways,…

- Behind the Curtain: A Pediatric Dermoid Tumor Masquerading as Craniopharyngioma. [Case Reports]
- Dermoid cysts are rare, benign congenital tumors arising from ectodermal remnants that become trapped during neural tube closure. They frequently occur in midline structures such as the sellar region, where proximity to critical neurovascular structures creates diagnostic and surgical challenges. Craniopharyngiomas, in contrast, are benign epithelial tumors originating from Rathke's pouch remnant…

- Transparent 3D-printed brain tumor model integrating tractography for planning minimally invasive transcortical resection of an intraventricular meningioma: A case report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: A transparent, modular 3D-printed model integrating patient-specific tractography may serve as a useful adjunct for preoperative planning of minimally invasive transcortical approaches to deep-seated intraventricular tumors. This design may improve intuitive visualization of complex three-dimensional anatomical relationships during trajectory planning; however, its independent effect on operative decision-making and clinical outcomes requires prospective evaluation.

- Use of three-dimensional-printed models for preoperative planning in endoscopic endonasal surgery for tuberculum sellae meningioma: A case report and literature review. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Patient-specific 3D printing may represent a useful adjunct for preoperative planning and surgical simulation in selected TSM; however, further prospective studies are needed to define its cost-effectiveness and clinical impact, and its role in the acquisition and validation of the surgical learning curve in advanced SBS.

- Histopathological analysis of a retrieved cerebral thrombus revealing occult lung adenocarcinoma: a case report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Tumour embolism is a rare but clinically relevant mechanism of ischaemic stroke. It should be considered in patients with embolic stroke of undetermined source, even in the absence of markedly elevated D-dimer levels. Histopathological analysis of thrombectomy specimens may provide clinically relevant diagnostic information and facilitate early detection of occult malignancy in selected patients.

- Stroke Following Facial Laser Resurfacing Procedure-A Case Report. [Case Reports]Lasers Surg Med. 2026 Aug 19. [Online ahead of print]LS
- CONCLUSIONS: Post-procedural stroke is a rare, life-threatening complication that may occur after medical interventions, including energy-based dermatologic procedures. In this case, paradoxical embolism through an undiagnosed PFO, facilitated by intraprocedural Valsalva, was the likely mechanism. Dermatologists should remain vigilant for this possibility and optimize pain control to reduce Valsalva and associated thromboembolic risk.

- Technical nuances of endoscopic transcortical transventricular fenestration for management of giant suprasellar arachnoid cysts in adults: illustrative cases. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Giant ACs warrant closer surveillance and often surgery due to higher risks of deficits. Careful anatomical orientation and controlled dual fenestration are key to achieving durable decompression. Endoscopic ventriculocisternostomy is a feasible and effective approach for symptomatic SACs. https://thejns.org/doi/10.3171/CASE26372.

- Case Report: Isolated homonymous hemianopia after reversal of anticoagulation with andexanet alfa. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Stroke is a major risk factor for atrial fibrillation, and anticoagulation in specific settings is evidence-based. Anticoagulation, however, increases the risk of haemorrhage and may require the use of a reversal agent (e.g., Andexanet alfa) in cases of severe bleeding. Unfortunately, reversal of anticoagulation in this setting can lead to an ischemic stroke and visual loss.

- Clipping of a giant thrombosed anterior communicating artery aneurysm with A3-A3 bypass: A technical case report with 4K video. [Journal Article]Surg Neurol Int. 2026; 17:416.SN
- CONCLUSIONS: Prophylactic A3-A3 bypass provides critical distal ACA protection during the surgical management of giant thrombosed AComA aneurysms. This strategy may enhance surgical safety and reduce ischemic complications. A video of the surgical operation is presented, and the safety and reliability of the surgical procedure are discussed.

- Subcortical brain mapping strategies for intraoperative identification of the optic radiation during asleep and awake surgery: a scoping review. [Review]Brain Spine. 2026; 6:106175.BS
- CONCLUSIONS: A modified picture-naming task during awake mapping, presenting two figures diagonally on a screen, has proven useful in estimating the OR boundary, allowing maximal safe resection while limiting postoperative deficits to an acceptable quadrantanopia in most low-grade glioma surgeries. Alternative awake paradigms show promise but require further validation. Intraoperative neurophysiological recording techniques are technically feasible, and their role could be relevant in the future, particularly for patients unsuitable for awake surgery. However, methodological standardization and clinical validation are needed.

- Pediatric recurrent intracranial hypertension secondary to All-Trans Retinoic Acid treatment in a patient with acute promyelocytic leukemia: value of retinal nerve fiber layer thickness in management. [Case Reports]Turk J Pediatr. 2026 Jun 08; 68(3):501-514.TJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Changes in papilledema were detected on OCT earlier than on clinical examination. This case illustrates the reversibility of IH secondary to ATRA therapy, the feasibility of completing ATRA treatment despite the side effect of IH, the importance of medical treatment for IH in combination with appropriate dose adjustments, and the accuracy and convenience of RNFL thickness as a biomarker for treatment efficiency. Managing IH in the context of a chronic systemic disorder requires a collaborative approach, close follow-up, and individualized management.
