- Incidental intestinal parasitic infections detected during colonoscopy: A case series of hookworm in a Cambodian immigrant and whipworm in Korean patients. [Case Reports]Parasites Hosts Dis. 2026 Oct 02. [Online ahead of print]PH
- Intestinal helminth infections have become uncommon in Korea but still occur sporadically, either as residual native infections or as imported infections among immigrants. We retrospectively reviewed 4 cases of intestinal helminth infections incidentally identified during colonoscopy at a single academic hospital between January 2019 and March 2026. One Cambodian immigrant had hookworm infection …

- Deep learning-based dose prediction for stereotactic prostate cancer radiotherapy with CyberKnife. [Journal Article]J Appl Clin Med Phys. 2026 Oct; 27(10):e70784.JA
- CONCLUSIONS: The proposed U-Net-based model demonstrated the ability to learn and reproduce characteristic dose distributions in CyberKnife prostate cancer radiotherapy. The model may provide patient-specific dose estimates for setting initial planning objectives to assist in automating treatment planning and improving inter-planner consistency.

- Trends and Survival Outcomes of Adjuvant Chemotherapy in Low-Risk Stage II Colon Cancer: A National Cancer Database Analysis. [Journal Article]Dis Colon Rectum. 2026 Sep 30. [Online ahead of print]DC
- CONCLUSIONS: Although adjuvant chemotherapy use in low-risk Stage II colon cancer has decreased over time, it continues to be administered, especially among younger patients. In this retrospective analysis of low-risk Stage II colon cancer, we were unable to identify a survival advantage with chemotherapy. Guideline-defined high-risk criteria, rather than subjective clinical judgement, should remain the basis for treatment decisions. This conclusion is timely given that colorectal cancer has become the most common cause of cancer deaths in patients < 50 years. See Video Abstract.

- CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates that North-to-South India tele-robotic oncologic surgery using the SSI MANTRA system is technically robust, clinically safe, and oncologically sound when supported by dedicated fiber-optic connectivity. This approach represents a scalable strategy to improve access to advanced cancer surgery across geographically diverse regions.

- Caudal regression syndrome (CRS) refers to a spectrum of congenital structural defects of the caudal region. We present a case of caudal regression syndrome with the objective of correlating the symptoms of caudal regression syndrome with the detailed imaging findings. A 05-year-old boy who was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in August 2025 , presented with a post-urethroplasty st…

- We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of group B Streptococcus (GBS) rectovaginal colonization prevalence, serotype distribution, and antimicrobial drug resistance (AMR) rates among pregnant women in the Asia-Pacific region. We included articles published in the MEDLINE, Embase, and PubMed databases during January 2014-October 2025. Overall, 1,623 studies were identified; 98 of those…

- Adult Onset Hirschsprung's Disease With Overlapping Presentation of Sigmoid Volvulus: Two Case Reports With Literature Review at Tikur Ambessa Specialized Hospital, AAU, Ethiopia. [Journal Article]
- Adult-onset Hirschsprung's disease (HSD) is uncommon and frequently leads to diagnostic difficulty after infancy. It is a congenital illness that causes intestinal obstruction due to a lack of ganglion cells. Approximately 1 in 5000 live newborns have this illness, and 95% of HSD cases are identified in infants. This case report will fill a knowledge gap at a low-resource setting where published …

- Recurrent rectal foreign-body insertion in a child with caregiver-reported problematic short-form video use: A hypothesis-generating case report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: We report a rare case of recurrent rectal foreign-body insertion in a preschool child. Our analysis leads us to hypothesise that there may be a potential link between the child's unusual behavior and problematic use of short-form video apps. The putative association identified in this study is speculative and merely hypothesis‑generating; no definitive causal conclusions can be drawn. Larger‑scale studies are needed to validate or refute this potential association. In addition, when encountering similar preschool‑aged pediatric patients, clinicians should remind caregivers to pay attention to children's media‑exposure status, and implement prudent supervision, patient guidance, and reasonable media use.

- Application of synthetic computed tomography based on a deep learning model in pelvic radiotherapy planning: A feasibility study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The findings of our study demonstrate the feasibility of applying sCT generated from MRI using a deep learning model to pelvic radiotherapy planning. The MRI-only workflow proposed on this basis eliminates systematic errors introduced by CT-MRI image registration, optimizes the clinical workflow, and fully exploits the superior soft-tissue contrast of MRI to improve target delineation accuracy. The proposed approach provides a novel technical paradigm for achieving more precise and efficient individualized radiotherapy.
