- FANCD2 knockdown suppresses malignant phenotypes and is associated with caspase/PARP-mediated apoptosis in NCI-H2052 pleural mesothelioma cells. [Journal Article]Front Genet. 2026; 17:1926600.FG
- CONCLUSIONS: In summary, FANCD2 may contribute to PM progression by supporting malignant phenotypes and limiting apoptosis. FANCD2 restoration and caspase inhibition partially reversed the growth suppression and apoptosis induced by FANCD2 knockdown, supporting the involvement of caspase-dependent apoptotic signaling. In addition, FANCD2 expression was positively associated with the computationally estimated proportion of M2 macrophages, suggesting that FANCD2 may represent an exploratory prognostic marker and a candidate therapeutic target for further investigation in PM.

- Integrated transcriptomic and metabolomic ecotoxicity assessment of earthworms exposed to ZnO and Mn-doped ZnO nanomaterials. [Journal Article]Front Toxicol. 2026; 8:1927574.FT
- Zinc oxide (ZnO)-containing nanomaterials may elicit toxic responses in environmental organisms such as earthworms. In this study, we investigate the time-dependent gene expression and metabolomic response in earthworms exposed to ZnO and Mn-doped ZnO (ZnO:Mn) nanomaterials (both at 850 mg/kg soil) and MnCl2.

- Artificial intelligence cooperation and domestic absorptive capacity: evidence from ASEAN economies. [Journal Article]R Soc Open Sci. 2026 Oct 07; 13(10):261565.RS
- Cross-border artificial intelligence (AI) cooperation is expanding, but evidence on its effect on domestic technological capability in recipient economies is scarce. Drawing on absorptive capacity theory, we create a composite AI absorptive capacity index for 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) economies, encompassing innovation foundations, application foundations and industrial su…

- Association Between Diagnostic Imaging, Medication Intake, and Health Outcomes in Chronic Whiplash-Associated Disorders: An Observational Study. [Journal Article]Physiother Can. 2026 May; 78(2):177-187.PC
- Purpose: Studies have demonstrated that medication and diagnostic imaging (DI) use and, more broadly, health care resource utilization, are not necessarily concordant with clinical practice guidelines. However, these studies did not evaluate the concurrent presence of clinical manifestations. This study therefore aimed to investigate the association between medication intake and DI, and health ou…

- An Environmental Scan of Canadian Physiotherapy Dry Needling Regulations. [Journal Article]Physiother Can. 2026 Aug; 78(3):300-307.PC
- Purpose: Dry needling (DN) regulations among the Canadian physiotherapy colleges were compiled to make recommendations toward a national guideline. Method: DN regulatory data extracted from regulatory body websites using an environmental scan framework was checked by an independent reviewer. Colleges were contacted to fill gaps identified from the web. Extracted content was compared to recommenda…

- Exploration of the Perceived Value of Self-Leadership Capacity in Physical Therapist Clinicians. [Journal Article]Physiother Can. 2026 May; 78(2):220-228.PC
- Purpose: Self-leadership, or leading oneself, is a critical component of leadership linked to improved individual performance, team effectiveness, and patient and organizational outcomes. This qualitative study explores physical therapist clinicians' perceived value of self-leadership in their clinical practice and their interactions with inter-professional team members. Method: Purposeful sampli…

- Student Perceptions of MPT-PhD Programmes in Canada: A Qualitative Study. [Journal Article]Physiother Can. 2026 Aug; 78(3):408-416.PC
- Purpose: Hybrid training programmes (MPT-PhD) were developed at four Canadian universities to support aspiring clinician-scientists in the physiotherapy field. The purpose of this study was to qualitatively explore the experiences of MPT-PhD trainees to understand (1) the supports needed to be successful within this programme, (2) the associated barriers that can arise within this programme, and …

- Perspectives of intensive care professionals on extubation practices, causes of delays, and proposed solutions: A cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]Can J Respir Ther. 2026; 62:176-184.CJ
- CONCLUSIONS: ICU healthcare professionals perceived delayed extubation as mainly associated with modifiable organizational and workflow-related barriers. Addressing these barriers through interprofessional collaboration, protocol standardization, and targeted training may optimize the extubation process and ultimately may inform future quality improvement initiatives in Saudi ICUs.

- Episodic memory in aging: neurocognitive bases and clinical implications of the distinction between hippocampal and frontal patterns. [Review]Dement Neuropsychol. 2026; 20:e20260505.DN
- Episodic memory is one of the cognitive domains most vulnerable to age-related changes and the early stages of neurodegenerative syndromes. In Brazilian clinical practice, however, the interpretation of memory performance frequently remains restricted to the quantitative analysis of delayed recall, without adequate consideration of the underlying neurocognitive mechanisms. This study aimed to cri…

- The gender of the examiner affects pain perception and reporting: a systematic review and meta-analysis. [Review]Pain Rep. 2026 Dec; 11(6):e1486.PR
- The gender of examiner/experimenter can influence patients' pain experiences because of social and interpersonal dynamics. However, the magnitude and direction of this influence is unclear. This systematic review and meta-analysis investigated whether the gender of the examiner affects pain perception and reporting. After registration in PROSPERO (CRD42023473445), electronic searches were conduct…

- From Failure to Flow: Indocyanine Green Improves Preoperative Mapping for Lymphaticovenular Anastomosis After Negative Contrast-enhanced Ultrasonography. [Case Reports]Plast Reconstr Surg Glob Open. 2026 Oct; 14(10):e8146.PR
- Accurate identification of functional lymphatic vessels is essential for lymphaticovenular anastomosis (LVA) but it remains challenging. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) is increasingly used for preoperative mapping; however, failure to detect vessels of adequate caliber often leads to deferral of LVA. We report a case where CEUS indicated no suitable lymphatic vessels intraoperatively, yet a …

- Transcriptomic Identification and Validation of NDUFS2 in Acute Rat TMJ Synovitis and Its Functional Role in LPS-Induced Synovial Fibroblast Inflammation. [Journal Article]J Inflamm Res. 2026; 19:614759.JI
- CONCLUSIONS: Our findings identify NDUFS2 as a key ROS-related gene associated with acute TMJ synovitis through transcriptomic screening. In vitro evidence indicates that NDUFS2 modulates inflammatory responses in synovial fibroblasts via mtROS-mediated mitochondrial oxidative stress. These findings provide an experimental basis for further exploration of TMJ synovitis pathogenesis.
