- After the lights go out: announcement-phase public relational expression and later continuity-oriented responses to an AI agent shutdown in an account-linked longitudinal study of Weibo posts. [Journal Article]Front Psychol. 2026; 17:1971726.FP
- When an artificial intelligence (AI) agent becomes unavailable, users may seek to preserve its records, recreate its persona, or maintain access through another service. This study examined public discourse surrounding the July 2026 discontinuation of user-built Doubao agents. The event-relevant corpus contained 5,372 Weibo posts; the longitudinal analysis retained 114 accounts contributing 1,719…

- Family socioeconomic status and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder symptoms in preschool children: a cross-sectional study of 21,366 parent-child dyads in Yan'an, western China. [Journal Article]Front Psychiatry. 2026; 17:1943855.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: Higher family SES is associated with lower ADHD symptom levels in preschool children from western China, with a clear dose-response relationship. These findings underscore the importance of socioeconomic resources in early childhood mental health and may inform the development of targeted intervention strategies for low-SES families. Longitudinal studies are warranted to establish causality and elucidate underlying mechanisms.

- Distribution and factors associated with refractive errors among young adults attending ophthalmic clinics in Iraq: a multicenter cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]Front Ophthalmol (Lausanne). 2026; 6:1904325.FO
- CONCLUSIONS: Refractive errors were frequent among young adults attending tertiary ophthalmic clinics in Iraq. The observed associations with demographic, familial, social, and behavioral factors provide clinically useful information for targeted refractive assessment, counseling, and service planning in young adults. Population-based longitudinal studies are needed to confirm the generalizability and temporal nature of these associations.

- GLP-1 receptor agonists in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis: protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. [Journal Article]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1800909.FM
- Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is a major global chronic liver disease without approved pharmacotherapy. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) show therapeutic promise due to their multi-faceted metabolic benefits, but their efficacy on histological endpoints in MASH requires definitive synthesis.

- Physical activity, entertainment screen time, and dietary fat profiles and concurrent weight status among school-attending Chinese children and adolescents: CHNS 2004-2011. [Journal Article]Front Public Health. 2026; 14:1945546.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: In the 2004-2011 CHNS analytic sample, the measured behaviors formed heterogeneous combinations, but the selected profiles did not independently distinguish concurrent weight status after adjustment. The findings are historical and sample-specific; they should not be interpreted as current national profile distributions or as validation of profile-based interventions.

- Albuminuria, kidney function, and automatically quantified retinal vascular phenotypes in hospitalized adults with type 2 diabetes. [Journal Article]Front Endocrinol (Lausanne). 2026; 17:1957415.FE
- CONCLUSIONS: The primary analyses did not demonstrate FDR-significant associations of either kidney marker with the retinal vascular phenotypes. Exploratory complete-case and sensitivity analyses suggested a model-dependent eGFR-related pattern, whereas UACR remained largely null. These cross-sectional findings are hypothesis-generating and require independent longitudinal validation.

- Evaluation of cardiovascular risk using smartwatch-measured pulse wave velocity in China: a nationwide cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]Front Cardiovasc Med. 2026; 13:1865667.FC
- CONCLUSIONS: In this cross-sectional study, SW-PWV was associated with age, sex, and BMI, with SW-PWV ≥10 m/s linked to a higher prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors and CVD. These findings suggest that the guideline-derived 10 m/s threshold of cfPWV might serve as a preliminary or exploratory threshold reference for SW-PWV, though direct validation against conventional cfPWV and prospective longitudinal studies are required before clinical implementation.

- Incidence and Characteristics of Adverse Events: The 2024 Patient Safety Incidents Inquiry in Korea. [Journal Article]J Korean Med Sci. 2026 Oct 12; 41(39):e301.JK
- CONCLUSIONS: Using a standardized three-stage medical record review, the 2024 Patient Safety Incident Inquiry provides updated descriptive baseline data on confirmed adverse events across tertiary and general hospitals in Korea. These findings may support institutional patient safety improvement efforts and inform national patient safety planning.

- Racial discrimination and preterm birth subtype among a prospective cohort of nulliparous Black women in the United States, 2010-2013. [Journal Article]Am J Epidemiol. 2026 Oct 13. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- Racial discrimination has been associated with an increased risk of preterm birth (PTB) among Black women. Few studies have examined whether this association differs by clinical presentation of PTB. We examined the association between racial discrimination and PTB subtype using data from a 2010-2013 clinic-based prospective cohort study of nulliparous women among women who self-reported Black rac…

- Ten rules for robust taxonomy in ecological datasets. [Journal Article]New Phytol. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]NP
- Accurate taxonomy, including species identification and naming, underpins ecological inference, yet taxonomic information in ecological datasets is often inconsistently recorded or weakly standardized. With the increasing integration of ecological datasets across taxa and regions, datasets with poor taxonomic practices can hinder data exchange and propagate errors. We propose 10 rules to improve …
