- The 90% effective dose of remimazolam in combination with sufentanil for sedation in patients undergoing gastroscopy. [Journal Article]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1929896.FM
- CONCLUSIONS: The ED90 of remimazolam combined with sufentanil for gastroscopy sedation was 17.625 mg, with a low incidence of adverse events. These results provided a clinically relevant dosing benchmark for this promising drug combination.

- Comparison of two automated pupillometry indices in patients with acute brain injury: the prospective multicentre LYNX cohort study. [Multicenter Study]
- CONCLUSIONS: NPi and QPi were correlated and both predicted 6-month outcome, but QPi was far more sensitive to anaesthetics, which probably confounds its association with intracranial hypertension. The indices are not interchangeable in sedated critically ill patients.

- Effects of intraoperative transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation in patients undergoing hip arthroplasty or femur fracture fixation under general anesthesia. [Journal Article]Minerva Anestesiol. 2026 Sep; 92(9):817-831.MA
- CONCLUSIONS: TEAS-assisted general anesthesia significantly improves perioperative outcomes in orthopedic surgery patients by enhancing hemodynamic stability, reducing medication needs, mitigating stress responses, decreasing pain, and preserving cognitive function, while increasing satisfaction and lowering adverse reactions. Further prospective studies are needed to validate these findings.

- Dexketoprofen Trometamol Plus Sufentanil for Analgesia After Thoracoscopic Radical Resection of Lung Cancer: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: Adding dexketoprofen trometamol reduced 48-hour sufentanil consumption in the analyzed population. Pain differences were time-specific secondary findings and did not establish sustained analgesic superiority. The nausea finding requires confirmation, and the trial was insufficient to establish safety for uncommon adverse events.

- Tegileridine versus Sufentanil for Patient-Controlled Intravenous Analgesia After Cesarean Delivery: A Randomized Double-Blind Trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: Among women undergoing cesarean delivery, tegileridine-based PCIA was associated with a lower incidence of PONV and dizziness and improved postoperative recovery quality compared with sufentanil, while postoperative analgesic outcomes were not significantly different between groups. These findings warrant confirmation in larger multicenter studies before routine clinical adoption.

- Preoperative Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio is Associated with Early Postoperative Pain and Opioid Consumption after Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Retrospective Study. [Journal Article]Indian J Orthop. 2026 Sep; 60(9):2313-2321.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Preoperative NLR may serve as a simple and cost-effective biomarker associated with increased postoperative pain and opioid consumption after TKA. Preoperative assessment of NLR may help identify patients at risk for greater pain and higher analgesic requirements, thereby facilitating individualized analgesic management. However, because these findings were derived from a retrospective single-center study, prospective multicenter studies are needed to validate the clinical utility of NLR, determine optimal cutoff values, and develop formal prediction models in accordance with TRIPOD guidelines.

- Effective Dose 90 of Programmed Intermittent Epidural Bolus Volume at Three Ropivacaine Concentrations with Dural Puncture Epidural for Labor Analgesia: A Randomized Sequential Allocation Study. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: When the combined DPE and PIEB technique is applied for effective labor analgesia, the ED90 of PIEB volume at concentrations of 0.075%, 0.1%, and 0.125% is 13.2 mL, 11.1 mL, and 9.4 mL respectively. Since higher concentration corresponds to a higher administered dose of ropivacaine, the ED90 of PIEB volume decreases as concentration increases.

- Untargeted serum metabolomic profiling reveals altered choline-phospholipid and amino acid metabolism in patients receiving subcostal transversus abdominis plane block combined with general anesthesia for radical gastrectomy: A prospective comparative study. [Journal Article]J Int Med Res. 2026 Sep; 54(9):3000605261489359.JI
- ObjectiveThis study aimed to investigate, using clinical serum metabolomics, the effects of general anesthesia combined with transversus abdominis plane block (TAPB) on systemic metabolism in patients undergoing radical gastrectomy compared with general anesthesia alone.MethodsFifty-six patients undergoing laparoscopic-assisted radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer were assigned to a general ane…

- Median effective dose of fospropofol disodium for suppression of the cough reflex during tracheostomy tube exchange in patients with disorders of consciousness receiving fixed-dose sufentanil. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In the presence of sufentanil 5 μg/kg, the ED50 and ED95 of fospropofol disodium for suppressing the cough reflex during tracheostomy tube exchange in patients with disorders of consciousness were 9.41 mg/kg (95% CI, 8.08-10.64 mg/kg) and 12.66 mg/kg (95% CI, 11.01-26.05 mg/kg), respectively. The suppressive effect was dose-dependent; however, higher doses were associated with increased risks of hypotension and apnea, indicating the need for individualized dose titration.

- Effects of Dexmedetomidine or Sufentanil Plus Low-Dose Ropivacaine for Epidural Labor Analgesia on Maternal Intrapartum Temperature Changes and Delivery Outcomes. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Both regimens provide equivalent analgesic efficacy and maternal-neonatal safety. Dexmedetomidine attenuates intrapartum temperature elevation, suggesting a potential advantage for intrapartum temperature management. Multicenter studies are warranted to confirm these findings.

- Effect of Bilateral Ultrasound-Guided Deep Parasternal Intercostal Plane Block Before Extubation on Early Recovery After Cardiac Surgery via Median Sternotomy: A Randomized Controlled Trial. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Bilateral ultrasound-guided DPIP block performed before extubation was associated with improved early recovery after median sternotomy cardiac surgery, reflected by higher QoR-15 score, lower postoperative sufentanil consumption, and less postoperative nausea and vomiting. These findings suggest that the timing of DPIP block administration may be important in optimizing recovery after cardiac surgery. Future multicenter studies or studies with extended follow-up may be conducted to validate the generalizability of these findings.

- The effect of sublingual sufentanil on post-operative pain control in spine surgery. [Journal Article]J Opioid Manag. 2026 Jul-Aug; 22(4):375-384.JO
- CONCLUSIONS: SST appears to be a potentially beneficial adjunctive analgesic therapy in spine surgery patients who experience moderate to severe post-operative pain, resulting in improved pain intensity scores in the post-operative recovery period. Further analysis should examine the impact on longer-term post-operative opioid consumption and post-discharge pain-related outcomes.

- We report a 32-year-old primigravida with no prior symptoms, normal baseline ECG, and no family history of sudden death who developed ventricular fibrillation (VF) shortly after uncomplicated vaginal delivery. She received epidural ropivacaine and sufentanil during labor. Post-resuscitation ECG demonstrated coved ST-segment elevation with T-wave inversion in V1-V2, consistent with spontaneous typ…
