- Objectives Endotracheal intubation is a critical airway intervention in severe acute poisoning, but its indications, timing, and outcomes are inconsistently described, and there are limited prospective data from Indian emergency departments (EDs). The primary objective of this prospective observational study was to determine the incidence of endotracheal intubation in adults (≥18 years) presentin…

- Global prevalence of suicidal ideation and attempts among older adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis. [Review]Arch Gerontol Geriatr. 2026 Oct 01; 153:106437. [Online ahead of print]AG
- CONCLUSIONS: Approximately 1 in 13 community-dwelling older adults experiences suicidal ideation. The strong ideation-to-action correlation necessitates shifting from reactive psychiatric care toward proactive, community-based interventions and aggressive primary care screening. Given heterogeneity of this magnitude, these pooled values should be interpreted together with their prediction intervals rather than as single figures applicable to every older-adult population.

- A scoping review evaluating artificial intelligence applications across various injury prevention domains. [Review]Injury. 2026 Oct 27; 57(12):113816. [Online ahead of print]I
- CONCLUSIONS: ML-based prediction showed promise for risk stratification in self-harm, suicide, intimate partner violence, and recurrent victimization. Additionally, AI predicted fall risk and identified athletes at risk for future sports-related injuries while detecting modifiable risk factors, including workload, prior injury burden, and strength deficits. Although these findings suggest that AI and ML may have potential applications in supporting earlier risk identification, informing targeted prevention strategies, and facilitating more personalized approaches to injury prevention, the limited available evidence warrants careful interpretation.

- CONCLUSIONS: These findings contribute to the empirical advancement of the 3ST in a Brazilian adolescent population and suggest that psychological pain, hopelessness, and social connectedness across family, school, and peer domains may represent relevant targets at the earliest stages of the suicidal process, with implications for prevention research and practice.

- Exploring community nurses' perspectives on adolescent suicide prevention in Indonesia: A descriptive qualitative study. [Journal Article]Acta Psychol (Amst). 2026 Oct 31; 271:108060. [Online ahead of print]AP
- CONCLUSIONS: Community nurses occupy a potentially important social-psychological and service-system position in adolescent suicide prevention in Indonesia. Their effectiveness depends not only on individual knowledge but also on the social conditions that make disclosure safe and help-seeking legitimate, together with clear protocols, referral pathways, cross-sector collaboration, and institutional support within existing Indonesian adolescent and primary-care platforms.

- The COVID-19 pandemic created social disruptions, leading to high levels of mental health problems for adolescents. Interpersonal stressors, such as lack of familial support, peer victimization, and discrimination, may have further exacerbated teen mental health issues. Yet, the psychological impact of interpersonal stressors and their interactive effects with high levels of loneliness remains un…

- Site-Directed Mutagenesis in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. [Journal Article]J Vis Exp. 2026 Oct 30; (236).JV
- Precise manipulation of the mycobacterial genome is required to study the effect of specific mutations without confounding influences from the diverse genetic backgrounds in clinical isolates. This is particularly important for interrogating gene function and drug resistance mechanisms, where background mutations may enhance or suppress the effects of a mutation of interest. Here, two targeted si…

- Adolescent Depression Characterized by Non-Suicidal Self-Injury Behaviors and Its Correlation with Inflammatory Factors, Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor, and Childhood Traumas. [Journal Article]Psychiatry Clin Psychopharmacol. 2026 Jun; 36(3):241-248.PC
- CONCLUSIONS: Inflammatory factors and BDNF levels in the cohort of adolescent depression patients with NSSI differed from those without NSSI, and different traumas have different effects on inflammatory factors. It was indicated that individuals in the NSSI group experienced more childhood trauma and more prominent inflammatory alterations, which may imply they are more prone to emotional dysregulation, requiring the need for timely and targeted intervention.
