- Biallelic CYB5A disruptions in 46, XY DSD: Novel missense and deep intronic variants. [Journal Article]J Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: Two novel CYB5A variants established the genetic diagnosis in both siblings, expanding the spectrum of pathogenic CYB5A-related DSD. Our findings show that a deep intronic variant can lead to null protein due to disrupted splicing. These results highlight the value of WGS and functional assays for detecting and validating clinically relevant non-coding variants in DSD.

- Environmental enrichment differentially suppresses anxiety-related behaviors, reduces passive avoidance learning, and upregulates hippocampal brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression in high- and low-avoidance Hatano rats. [Journal Article]Physiol Behav. 2026 Oct 06; :115530. [Online ahead of print]PB
- Anxiety disorder risk is influenced by both adverse environmental factors and genetic background. We previously described high-avoidance animal (HAA) and low-avoidance animal (LAA) strains of male Hatano rats that may provide robust models for assessing interactions between genetic background and environment driving anxiety disorder pathogenesis. We examined the potential of environmental enrichm…

- The Autophagic Interaction Between p97/VCP and ABP Protein Expressions in Sertoli Cell Line: the Effects of Chloroquine and Rapamycin. [Journal Article]Reprod Sci. 2026 Oct 06. [Online ahead of print]RS
- Sertoli cells play a pivotal role in spermatogenesis by providing structural support and delivering essential nutrients and signaling molecules to developing germ cells. A key function of these cells is the regulation of androgen-binding protein (ABP), which maintains the high intratesticular testosterone levels necessary for proper spermatogenic progression. Despite the critical nature of ABP, t…

- Worse muscle mass loss in adrenal Cushing syndrome vs. Cushing's disease: a comparative evaluation of chemiluminescence and LC-MS/MS cortisol assessment. [Journal Article]J Endocrinol Invest. 2026 Oct 06. [Online ahead of print]JE
- CONCLUSIONS: In premenopausal women, the muscle mass with CD is significantly higher than that with ACS. This may indicate a higher severity of myopathy in ACS patients. Muscle wasting in Cushing's syndrome represents a multifactorial process driven by mechanical load, subtype-specific androgen status, and cortisol exposure. Furthermore, CL cortisol offers a reliable, accessible first-line assessment tool, while LC-MS/MS provides added value through multi-steroid profiling.

- Social Context Alters Chemical Signalling and Endocrine Profiles in Two Mouse Subspecies. [Journal Article]J Chem Ecol. 2026 Oct 06; 52(5).JC
- Chemical signalling and endocrine state are known to covary with social environment, but the speed of their response to social transitions under natural conditions remains unclear. We examined how major urinary proteins (MUPs) and faecal steroid hormone metabolites respond to shifts between solitary housing and a complex social setting in two house mouse subspecies, Mus musculus musculus and M. m…

- Epidemiological characteristics and temporal trends of male infertility in Egypt (2012-2022): Analysis of 3,037 consecutive cases. [Journal Article]Arab J Urol. 2026; 24(4):265-276.AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This study identified primary infertility, varicocele diagnosis and asthenozoospermia as predominant findings among infertile Egyptian men. Over a decade, temporal declines in sperm concentration, motility, and morphology were observed, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Smoking and elevated gonadotropins negatively influenced semen quality and testicular volume, whereas testosterone levels and varicocele grade showed no significant correlation. These findings highlight the importance of developing integrated, region-specific strategies to address male infertility.

- Adolescent psychological stress impairs spermatogenesis by disrupting meiotic progression in male mice. [Journal Article]PeerJ. 2026; 14:e21750.P
- Psychological stress is a risk factor for male infertility, and adolescence is a critical period of vulnerability to stress. However, the effects of psychological stress on spermatogenesis in adolescent males remain unclear. To investigate this, we used a restraint stress model in adolescent Kunming mice, where animals were restrained for 2 and 4 h per day from postnatal day 28 to 56. Restraint s…

- The oncology and fertility outcomes in patients with ovarian steroid cell tumors: a single center experience. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Ovarian SCTs confined to FIGO stage IA were associated with favorable oncologic outcomes in our cohort, whereas recurrence occurred in patients with stage IC or II disease. For patients with stage IA disease desiring fertility preservation, unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (USO) may be considered. Fertility preservation in stage IC or II disease should be individualized with caution. Long-term follow-up and multi-institutional studies are needed to better define both oncologic and reproductive outcomes.
