  • Periapical abscess precipitating diabetic ketoacidosis and reversible sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy: a case report. [Case Reports]
    Front Endocrinol (Lausanne). 2026; 17:1853265.Jin J, Liao L, … Qiu YFE
  • CONCLUSIONS: This case underscores that odontogenic infection can be a potent trigger for life-threatening DKA and septic shock with multi-organ dysfunction in diabetic patients. It highlights the critical importance of thorough physical examination, including oral cavity inspection, in the evaluation of sepsis or DKA. The presentation and complete reversibility of SICM reinforce that treatment must focus on correcting the underlying septic and metabolic insults. Early multidisciplinary management is essential for optimal outcomes.

  • Banana Peel Modified with Deep Eutectic Solvents for Pharmaceutical Water Remediation. [Journal Article]
ACS Omega. 2026 Jun 16; 11(23):34226-34244.Gil GC, Tavares Barboza JA, … Chamorro AFAO
  • Banana peel (BP) has gained attention as a sustainable, low-cost biosorbent for removing pharmaceuticals from aquatic environments. In this study, BP was modified using a choline chloride/methanesulfonic acid (ChCl/MSA) deep eutectic solvent to produce a chemically and structurally enhanced material (BP-ChCl/MSA) for pharmaceutical adsorption from water. The modified biosorbent was comprehensivel…

The second case presented with diarrhea and a hepatic abscess, also associated with colonic ulcers. Both patients showed a favorable clinical outcome following treatment. Amoebiasis is caused by the parasite Entamoeba histolytica. It is transmitted…
