- A review of the millipede fauna of Ethiopia, with the description of a new genus and species of the family Spirostreptidae (Diplopoda, Spirostreptida). [Journal Article]Zootaxa. 2026 Apr 29; 5799(3):559-572.Z
- The known millipede fauna of Ethiopia is reviewed, and its provisional checklist currently contains fewer than 40 species. A new monotypic genus of Spirostreptidae is described from an evergreen tropical forest in Oromiya State, Ethiopia: Altisternostreptusgen. nov., with A. harennasp. nov. as the type species. The new genus differs from other genera of Spirostreptidae/Perustreptinae/Perustreptin…

- Anatomical Variations Favouring Antrochoanal Polyp Genesis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The nasal septum deviation favours contralateral ACP development. However, concha bullosa, middle turbinate hypertrophy and hyperpneumatized ethmoid bulla cells favour ipsilateral ACP development. We recommend systematically reporting anatomical variations on ACP CT scans, performing wide middle meatotomy during ACP removal, correcting variations that may favor recurrence (septal deviation, concha bullosa) during surgery, and closely monitoring patients with such variations for potential recurrence.

- Morphological peculiarities in the integument of enigmatic anomalurid gliders (Anomaluridae, Rodentia). [Journal Article]
- Scaly-tailed squirrels, the most poorly known group of gliding mammals, hold the record for variety of remarkable integument peculiarities. One of the most striking of these features is the scales on the tail, which apparently allow them to reduce energy costs when positioning themselves on a tree trunk. No less interesting is a peculiar spur that supports the flying membrane: the unciform elemen…

- Analysis of white matter characteristics with tract-based spatial statistics according to diffusion tensor imaging in early Parkinson's disease. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: There is wide alteration of white matter microstructure in early PD patients, which is characterized by disruption of projection fibers in the descending pathway, limbic system-related fasciculi, corpus callosum, thalamus after radiation, posterior thalamic radiation, Gratiolet's bundle and other fasciculi in the white matter.

- Expression of IL-17 and syndecan-1 in nasal polyps and their correlation with nasal polyps. [Journal Article]
- Nasal polyp (NP) is a common chronic inflammatory disease of the nasal cavity and sinuses. Although some authors have suggested that NP is related to inflammatory factors such as interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-5, IL-8, granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, and IL-17, the mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis and progression of NP remain obscure. This …

- [Studies on macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of Ophiocordyceps xuefengensis]. [Journal Article]Zhongguo Zhong Yao Za Zhi. 2015 Jul; 40(14):2820-4.ZZ
- The macroscopic characteristics, tissue, caterpillar body wall and powder of Ophiocordyceps xuefengensis in different batch numbers were observed and researched by the macroscopic and microscopic identification methods. The result shows that the morphology, size, abdominal annulations of caterpillar, etc. of 0. xuefengensis are the macroscopic identification characteristics, the caterpillar body …
- [A clinical series of 80 patients with adenosquamous carcinoma of pancreas]. [Journal Article]Zhonghua Wai Ke Za Zhi. 2014 Sep; 52(9):658-61.ZW
- CONCLUSIONS: Adenosquamous carcinoma of pancreas is a rare kind of malignant tumor, nerve invasion can be found in almost all the cases. Patients with adenosquamous carcinoma of pancreas have an unfavorable prognosis. The principle treatments are surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
- A new flea, Ectinorus (Ectinorus) insignis n. sp. (Siphonaptera, Rhopalopsyllidae, Parapsyllinae), with notes on the subgenus Ectinorus in Chile and comments on unciform sclerotization in the superfamily Malacopsylloidea. [Journal Article]
- A list is provided for the species of Ectinorus sensu stricto from Chile. Ectinorus (Ectinorus) insignis n. sp. is described from Chile: this species is characterized by the male genitalia. In the subgenus Ectinorus, the authors report the presence in Chile of E. pilosus Beaucournu & Carmen Castro, 2002 described from Argentina and E. simonsi (Rothschild, 1904) described from Bolivia but also kno…

- Bilateral sensory effects of unilateral passive accessory mobilization in patients with thumb carpometacarpal osteoarthritis. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: This secondary analysis found that the application of a unilateral passive accessory mobilization targeted to the symptomatic CMC joint induced an increase of PPT levels 2 weeks after treatment; however, differences were small and likely of limited clinical value. No contralateral motor effects were observed. Future studies including larger sample sizes are needed to examine the effects of joint mobilization on motor and sensory effects.

- Effects of passive upper extremity joint mobilization on pain sensitivity and function in participants with secondary carpometacarpal osteoarthritis: a case series. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case series provides preliminary evidence that PJM of upper extremity joints diminished pain and may increase PPT tip and tripod pinch in some participants with secondary CMC OA.

- Carpal-metacarpal specializations for burrowing in South American octodontoid rodents. [Journal Article]
- Among the ecomorphologically diverse Octodontoidea rodents, fossorial habits are prevalent in Ctenomyidae and Octodontidae and occur in some members of Echimyidae. To detect traits linked to scratch-digging, we analyzed morpho-structural variation in the carpus and metacarpus of 27 species of extinct and living octodontoids with epigean, fossorial and subterranean habits. Within a context of rela…

- [Management of patients with recurrent purulent sinusitis caused by structural anomaly of the unciform process]. [Journal Article]Vestn Otorinolaringol. 2008; (2):27-9.VO
- We have examined and treated 14 patients suffering from recurrent bacterial sinusitis (RBS) in abnormal unciform process (UP). The duration of the disease was 1 to 3 years, mean 1.9 years. The patients had UP hypoplasia (n=7), UP perforation (n=4), defects due to endonasal surgical intervention (n=3). We made surgical remodeling of the UP by two original techniques. After follow-up for 1-1.5 year…
