  • CONCLUSIONS: POUR is an important early postoperative complication in general surgical patients. Advanced age, male sex, diabetes mellitus, pre-existing lower urinary tract symptoms, spinal anesthesia, prolonged surgery, higher perioperative fluid administration, and postoperative opioid use were associated with increased risk. Careful preoperative risk assessment, early bladder monitoring, and timely intervention may help reduce catheter-related morbidity and support smoother postoperative recovery.

  • CONCLUSIONS: In this institutional cohort, immediate CIC was associated with increased bacteriuria consistent with colonization without higher symptomatic UTI rates in the primary comparison. Associations between delayed CIC initiation and worse infectious and imaging outcomes likely reflect reactive escalation (time-varying exposure) and baseline non-exchangeability rather than a causal effect of "delay." Findings support risk-adapted CIC initiation and symptom-based UTI diagnosis to promote antimicrobial stewardship.

  • CONCLUSIONS: Sacral neuromodulation is an effective and safe treatment option for patients with overactive bladder and chronic urinary retention. Its ability to reduce the need for catheterization and improve voiding function is of great clinical importance, especially in patients with chronic urinary retention. The success of SNM can be increased with appropriate patient selection, careful evaluation during the testing phase, and optimal technical application.

  • CONCLUSIONS: Kidney transplant in patients with posterior urethral valves can achieve durable allograft function when bladder phenotyping, stepwise optimization, reflux management, infection prevention, donor-specific surgical planning, and lifelong follow-up are integrated into care. Clinically significant vesicoureteral reflux should prompt consideration of anti-reflux surgery or native nephroureterectomy according to kidney function, residual diuresis, and reconstructive timing. A multidisciplinary strategy extending through transition to adult services offers the best opportunity to protect the allograft.

  • CONCLUSIONS: The sound anatomical knowledge of pelvic anatomy, risk factors associated with urinary tract injury, and meticulous operative procedure is important for the prevention and early identification of the injuries if any to minimize the morbidity postoperatively. With technical advances and surgical expertise urinary tract injuries can be managed by laparoscopy with excellent outcome.
