- The Afferent Threshold Hypothesis: A Unified Neural Framework for Functional Bladder Capacity and Nocturia. [Journal Article]Int Neurourol J. 2026 Sep; 30(3):192-204.IN
- The Weiss nocturia indices have structured clinical thinking about nocturia for over 2 decades. By deriving simple ratios from the frequency-volume chart, they classify nocturia into nocturnal polyuria, reduced nocturnal bladder capacity, and mixed etiology. The arithmetic is sound. But the framework rests on an unexamined assumption: that the maximum voided volume, almost always the first mornin…

- Social Context Alters Chemical Signalling and Endocrine Profiles in Two Mouse Subspecies. [Journal Article]J Chem Ecol. 2026 Oct 06; 52(5).JC
- Chemical signalling and endocrine state are known to covary with social environment, but the speed of their response to social transitions under natural conditions remains unclear. We examined how major urinary proteins (MUPs) and faecal steroid hormone metabolites respond to shifts between solitary housing and a complex social setting in two house mouse subspecies, Mus musculus musculus and M. m…

- Effectiveness of a Sodium Intake Monitoring Smartphone Application (NamakBan) on Clinical Outcomes of Patients Diagnosed With Hypertension: A Randomized Clinical Trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]Nurs Open. 2026 Oct; 13(10):e70909.NO
- CONCLUSIONS: In this RCT, the NamakBan application, used alongside usual care, was associated with modest but statistically significant improvements in systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and self-reported sodium intake over 2 months. However, the objective urinary sodium-to-potassium ratio did not differ between groups. The findings should therefore be interpreted with caution: dietary sodium was assessed via unblinded self-report, follow-up was limited to 2 months, the trial was single-centre and the application was available only on Android.

- Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Cotula cinerea Essential Oil: Integrated Chemical, In Vivo, Histological, and Computational Evaluation. [Journal Article]Chem Biodivers. 2026 Oct; 23(10):e71793.CB
- The anti-inflammatory activity of Cotula cinerea essential oil (EO) was evaluated using integrated chemical, in vivo, histological, and computational approaches. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) identified trans-thujone (51.86%), santolina triene (10.60%), and sabinene (6.17%) as the most abundant constituents. In benzylthiouracil (BTU)-treated Wistar rats, EO administration reduced t…

- Delayed graft function (DGF) is a rare complication following living-donor kidney transplantation, most commonly caused by ischemic acute tubular necrosis (ATN). We report a case in a 51-year-old woman with diabetic nephropathy who underwent an ABO-compatible living-donor kidney transplant from her younger brother. Although the procedure was completed without major complications, the patient deve…

- Serum-Creatinine-Estimated Augmented Renal Clearance is Associated with Marked Weight Loss after Severe Traumatic Brain Injury. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Serum-creatinine-estimated augmented renal clearance (ARC) was common after severe TBI and was associated with marked day-28 weight loss. These findings are hypothesis generating and suggest that eARC may identify a metabolically vulnerable subgroup, but prospective studies using measured creatinine clearance, detailed sodium-water balance assessment, and direct body composition measures are needed.

- ctDNA- and cfDNA-based liquid biopsy in bladder cancer and urothelial carcinoma: bibliometric mapping and cross-database coverage analysis, 2008-2025. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: The expanded search identifies a larger DNA-focused literature than the original strategy and confirms unequal database coverage. Thematic clusters and citation bursts trace a shift from early methylation-marker research towards ctDNA-based molecular residual disease assessment and perioperative treatment stratification. Bibliometric prominence describes research activity, not diagnostic accuracy, predictive validity or treatment benefit.

- Global trends and hotspots in bladder cancer: A bibliometric analysis (2016-2025). [Review]Urologia. 2026 Sep 28; :3915603261483766. [Online ahead of print]U
- CONCLUSIONS: Frequent keywords such as biomarkers, prognosis, non-muscle invasive bladder cancer, chemotherapy, and radical cystectomy, together with highly cited and recently prominent terms including tumor microenvironment and immune checkpoint inhibitors, reflect areas of substantial research activity and evolving scientific interest. Thematic evolution analyses further indicate changing patterns in keyword co-occurrence over time, particularly for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer, upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma, and meta-analysis. The translation of these trends into clinical practice requires further evidence synthesis, clinical trials, guideline evaluation, and broader stakeholder input.

- Effects of automated peritoneal dialysis and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis on residual kidney function in Chinese patients with new-onset end stage kidney disease. [Journal Article]
- Automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) is a widely used dialysis modality for patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). However, controversy remains regarding the rate of residual kidney function (RKF) decline between patients treated with APD and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). This study aimed to investigate the effect of peritoneal dialysis modality on the rate of RKF decli…

- Species-Level Reconfiguration and Retrospective Bridging Assessment of a Multiplex PCR Panel for Complicated and Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: V5 increased species-level reporting resolution while retaining generally high retrospective pathogen and AMR agreement with the original parent-study comparators. Paired analyses did not identify statistically significant directional changes in shared-target classifications. Newly introduced targets require comprehensive validation, and prospective evaluation of the final V5 configuration is needed before conclusions regarding clinical or stewardship benefit can be made.

- Deep Learning-Assisted Classification of Urinary Red Blood Cell Morphology for Glomerular Hematuria Screening: A Pilot Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This YOLOv5l-based pilot study demonstrates the feasibility of rapid, morphology-aware urinary RBC classification and preliminary concordance with expert microscopy. The system may support expert-guided workflow research, but should not be interpreted as standalone diagnostic performance. Multicenter validation with independent clinical reference standards is required before clinical implementation.
