- Field-deployable visual detection of Burkholderia gladioli and its toxigenic pathovar using a one-step RPA-CRISPR/Cas13a assay. [Journal Article]Microbiol Spectr. 2026 Sep 25; :e0214326. [Online ahead of print]MS
- Burkholderia gladioli pathovar cocovenenans produces the potent mitochondrial toxin bongkrekic acid (BA), causing severe foodborne outbreaks. Conventional detection methods are constrained by prolonged turnaround times and the need for sophisticated instruments, limiting their utility for on-site surveillance. In this study, two independent one-step RPA-CRISPR/Cas13a detection systems were establ…

- Progress in educational theory and translational implementation of simulation-based education for healthcare professionals: an integrative analysis from theory to effectiveness. [Review]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1947067.FM
- CONCLUSIONS: SBE effectiveness is conditional on alignment of aims, activities, assessment, high-quality debriefings, mastery-based pacing, and psychologically safe climates. Functional and psychological fidelity should supersede device sophistication. Translational approaches position SBE within organisational quality and economic frameworks.

- A Case of Delayed-Onset Hyphema After PreserFlo MicroShunt Implantation. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Sep; 18(9):e116822.C
- We report a case of delayed-onset hyphema with reflux bleeding adjacent to the PreserFlo MicroShunt (PFM) tube entry site. A 66-year-old Japanese man with bilateral primary open-angle glaucoma underwent PFM implantation in the left eye because of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) and progressive visual field loss despite treatment with four topical anti-glaucoma agents. He had previously underg…

- A 48-Month, Prospective, Multicenter, Natural History Study of Choroideremia. [Journal Article]Ophthalmol Sci. 2026 Oct; 6(10):101361.OS
- CONCLUSIONS: Preserved fundus autofluorescence area has an advantage over EZ area as a clinical endpoint in CHM due to its ease and precision of measurement. Importantly, several functional measures of visual field correlated highly with PFAF area, supporting its validity as an outcome measure. The average annual decrease in PFAF area was ∼10%.

- Feasibility of an adjustable-angle arthroscope during ACL femoral tunnel creation: an ex vivo porcine knee study. [Journal Article]Front Surg. 2026; 13:1899167.FS
- CONCLUSIONS: This study successfully developed an adjustable-angle arthroscope based on a hinge-linkage mechanism and demonstrated, through quantitative testing, that it provided greater visual-field coverage than conventional 30° and 70° fixed-angle arthroscopes. By enabling dynamic multiangle visualization within a single arthroscopic system, this device may provide a more flexible visualization strategy for complex arthroscopic procedures and has potential clinical applicability.

- Blue magnetophosphene perception under subthreshold magnetic stimulation in a human retinal degeneration model. [Journal Article]Front Neurosci. 2026; 20:1893022.FN
- Extremely low-frequency magnetic fields (ELF-MF; <300 Hz) can induce visual percepts known as magnetophosphenes through weak, subthreshold electric fields in neural tissue. Although magnetophosphene perception has been characterized in healthy observers, the anatomical locus of interaction (retinal vs. cortical) remains incompletely constrained, particularly under conditions of severe retinal dys…

- Neuromonitoring in the Decompressed Brain: Rethinking Physiology, Monitoring, and Thresholds After Decompressive Craniectomy. [Editorial]Neurocrit Care. 2026 Sep 24. [Online ahead of print]NC
- Decompressive craniectomy (DC) is a life-saving intervention for refractory intracranial hypertension across traumatic, ischemic, and hemorrhagic etiologies. While its immediate hemodynamic benefits are well established, DC fundamentally disrupts intracranial physiology by abolishing the closed-box condition of the cranial vault, thereby altering the interpretation of all monitored parameters. Ne…

- RS-CARES: Context-Aware Cross-Modal Alignment with Semantic Spatial Prior for Referring Remote Sensing Image Segmentation. [Journal Article]J Imaging. 2026 Sep 19; 12(9).JI
- Remote sensing referring image segmentation faces critical challenges including arbitrary target rotation, drastic scale variation, cluttered complex backgrounds, and large visual-language semantic gaps. Existing mainstream segmentation models adopt fixed-receptive-field backbones, coarse unidirectional cross-modal interaction and static learnable object queries, which easily cause small-object m…

- A Deep Reconstruction Framework with Ringing Artifact Suppression for Overexposed Remote Sensing Image Restoration. [Journal Article]J Imaging. 2026 Aug 26; 12(9).JI
- Computational imaging shifts part of the aberration correction from optical hardware to algorithms, offering a viable path toward compact, simplified systems. However, overexposed regions-often caused by phenomena such as water-body reflections-can readily induce severe ringing artifacts in reconstructed images. To address this problem, we propose a Ringing-perceptive Cooperative Reconstruction N…

- Serum Serine as a Metabolic Marker of Optic Neuropathy in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus After Vitreoretinal Surgeries. [Journal Article]Metabolites. 2026 Aug 28; 16(9).M
- Background: Optical neuropathy is a severe complication in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) undergoing vitreoretinal surgeries. Early diagnostic indicators are critical to preventing irreversible vision loss. This study aimed to evaluate the alterations in blood serum amino acid profiles, with a specific focus on serine levels, and their potential clinical association with the severi…

- Portable Paper-Based Colorimetric Biosensor for Rapid Screening of Organophosphate Exposure via Acetylcholinesterase Activity and RGB Image Analysis. [Journal Article]Biosensors (Basel). 2026 Sep 03; 16(9).B
- CONCLUSIONS: The proposed platform demonstrated the feasibility of translating a pH-based AChE assay into a portable paper-based format for semi-quantitative visual and RGB-assisted screening. Its evaluation in human samples demonstrated the feasibility of its use under field conditions as a proof-of-concept. Further studies are needed to optimize its analytical performance and validate its application in larger and more diverse populations.

- Exploring the Synergy Between Language Semantic Guidance and Visual Attention in Knowledge Distillation for Semantic Segmentation Under a Limited Field of View. [Journal Article]Biomimetics (Basel). 2026 Sep 16; 11(9).B
- Semantic segmentation for autonomous driving is challenged by limited field-of-view (FoV), where occlusions and restricted viewpoints reduce available visual information. Existing approaches often incur considerable computational overhead, which is unsuitable for autonomous driving systems. To build robust and lightweight semantic segmentation models, attention-based knowledge distillation (KD) c…

- Scaling vision to the body: Height predicts visual experience and perceptual performance. [Journal Article]J Exp Psychol Gen. 2026 Sep 24. [Online ahead of print]JE
- The visual system adapts to the statistics of everyday experience, yet these statistics depend on the observer's physical body. We combined large-scale egocentric video and behavioral testing to examine how stature shapes the "visual diet" of hands and faces and how this diet affects perceptual performance. In Experiment 1, automated analyses of over 200 hr of eye-tracked egocentric video reveale…
