- Co-infections in sexually transmitted infections: A case series emphasizing the need for comprehensive evaluation. [Case Reports]Indian J Sex Transm Dis AIDS. 2026; 47(1):60-63.IJ
- Sexually transmitted infections frequently coexist and are often under-recognized due to overlapping or atypical presentations. We report four cases of concurrent sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in adult males, including various combinations of syphilis, gonorrhea, chancroid, HIV, molluscum contagiosum, and pediculosis pubis. Detailed sexual history, examination, and laboratory confirmatio…

- Atypical genital-predominant mpox mimicking chancroid and herpes simplex virus infection: a case report and literature synthesis. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the diagnostic dilemma posed by genital mpox, which can initially mimic herpes simplex virus infection or chancroid. Maintaining a high index of clinical suspicion is essential, particularly in patients with epidemiological risk factors and evolving systemic features. These findings are consistent with global reports of atypical, sexually associated mpox presentations.

- Complete reference genomes of Haemophilus ducreyi isolates ITG3105, CIP76118, and TMA3542, using Oxford Nanopore and Illumina sequencing. [Journal Article]Microbiol Resour Announc. 2026 Jun 09; 15(6):e0142525.MR
- We report the complete reference genome sequences of three Haemophilus ducreyi isolates (ITG3105, CIP76118, and TMA3542), generated using Oxford Nanopore and Illumina sequencing, and hybrid assemblies. Each genome has a closed circular chromosome; ITG3105 and TMA3542 also have plasmids. These reference genomes support genomic, epidemiological, and antimicrobial resistance surveillance of H. ducre…

- Responding to Sierra Leone's first Haemophilus ducreyi outbreak: Lessons for emergency preparedness and response. [Journal Article]Int J Infect Dis. 2026 Jul; 168:108731.IJ
- Sierra Leone reported its first outbreak of cutaneous Hemophilic ducreyi in November 2025 amid ongoing public health emergencies. The outbreak, initially detected in a primary school in Bombali district, Northern Sierra Leone, resulted in 449 suspected and 96 confirmed cases, primarily among children aged 5-15 years, with no associated deaths. Rapid activation of the district emergency operations…

- Assessment of the role of Haemophilus ducreyi coinfection on outcomes of Yaws treatment in the southwestern part of Ghana. [Journal Article]PLoS Negl Trop Dis. 2026 Mar; 20(3):e0014182.PN
- CONCLUSIONS: These results support the ongoing use of a single dose azithromycin in yaws elimination programmes, as evidenced by the healing rates observed. Nonetheless, greater focus should be directed toward improving diagnostic and treatment approaches for individual patients. Further research is necessary to better understand the aetiology of cutaneous ulcers in yaws-endemic regions.

- A Pre-pandemic Baseline: Assessing Gaps in Sexually Transmitted Infection Knowledge Among Healthcare Providers at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of a Saudi Tertiary Care Hospital. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study establishes a crucial pre-pandemic baseline, identifying critical knowledge gaps in guideline-based STI management among OB/GYN professionals, including recommended diagnostics and treatments. These findings highlight an urgent need for targeted, continuous medical education to improve clinical competency and patient safety, offering a benchmark for measuring future educational interventions and pandemic-related disruptions on clinical practice.

- Clinical characteristics of Haemophilus ducreyi genital ulcer disease in Malawi. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This review confirmed the high prevalence and persistence of chancroid in Malawi. However, additional investigations are needed to further characterize the epidemiology of chancroid and determine the reasons for its persistence in Malawi.

- Genital ulcers are a frequent reason for consultation in Primary Care, primarily due to new in sexual practices in recent years. They are caused by different reasons; its origin is usually infectious and they are transmitted through sexual contact. Its etiology can be non-infectious too. This review, focused on Primary Care, aims to provide an updated overview of the clinical characteristics, dia…

- Expert Consensus Study on the Redesign of the Sexually Transmitted Infection Surveillance System in Korea. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Although a consensus was not reached in some of the surveys in this study, it involved the collection of various expert opinions. Therefore, policies should be promoted with a prioritized focus on items with high agreement, but items for which no consensus was reached need to be reviewed in greater depth through additional research and investigation.

- Mapping the distribution of yaws and Haemophilus ducreyi in the western north region of Ghana. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Serological surveillance without molecular testing may undermine efforts to interrupt yaws transmission. More comprehensive community surveillance detecting yaws and H. ducreyi infections is critical in developing strategies to achieve the WHOs yaws eradication goal.

- Prevalence and etiology of vulval pruritus among women across different age groups: A cross-sectional study in a dermatology outpatient department. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Infectious causes, especially VVC and candidal intertrigo, are the predominant aetiologies of vulval pruritus in women across various age groups, followed by, dermatophytosis, genital warts, herpes genitalis, and chancroid. Noninfective causes include LSC, and lichen sclerosus also play a significant role, varying by age and hormonal status. A comprehensive clinical evaluation, with an assessment of sexual history, hygiene practices, and comorbidities, is essential for accurate diagnosis and effective management.
