- Malignancies in inborn errors of immunity: a retrospective-prospective study on a large Italian cohort of pediatric and adult patients. [Multicenter Study]
- CONCLUSIONS: The multicenter, registry-based design of our study enabled a reliable estimation of cancer incidence among IEI patients and a direct comparison with the general population, while the longitudinal dataset provided valuable insights into the cancer spectrum and outcomes across different IEI subtypes. Tailored surveillance strategies, early IEI diagnosis and multidisciplinary management are essential to improve long-term outcomes.

- Use of subcutaneous infliximab biosimilar CT-P13 in the Common Variable Immune Deficiency associated enteropathy. [Journal Article]Rev Esp Enferm Dig. 2026 Oct 08. [Online ahead of print]RE
- Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is the most common symptomatic primary immunodeficiency in adults; non-infectious gastrointestinal involvement may be present in up to 50% of patients, with the small intestine and colon being the most frequently affected areas. Studies have evaluated the effectiveness of biological therapy in this setting. Experience with infliximab is limited, and to the …

- CHAPLE-Like Enteropathy and Renal Microangiopathy in an Adult Patient With CD46 Deficiency. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case supports considering CD46-associated disease in adults with a CHAPLE-like phenotype, particularly when enteric protein loss and hypogammaglobulinemia coexist with renal microangiopathy despite normal C3 and C4. The response to complement blockade supports a complement-mediated disease process. Documented protein loss should prompt reassessment of a presumptive diagnosis of primary antibody deficiency.

- Pathway-level transcriptional convergence between Gaucher disease and common variable immunodeficiency reveals concordant interferon and antigen-processing signatures. [Journal Article]Immunol Lett. 2026 Oct 06; :107248. [Online ahead of print]IL
- CONCLUSIONS: GD and CVID exhibit selective pathway-level transcriptional convergence rather than a shared causal mechanism, supporting robustness-aware pathway analysis across heterogeneous disorders.

- Advances in the Phenotyping and Management of Common Variable Immunodeficiency. [Review]Immunol Allergy Clin North Am. 2026 Nov; 46(4):699-721.IA
- This article highlights advances in the phenotyping and management of common variable immunodeficiency (CVID). Advances in phenotyping include the use of cell-based, soluble, and genetic profiling, combined with novel applications like machine learning, to better define high-risk (complicated CVID) and low-risk (uncomplicated CVID) patient populations. Advances in management include first-in-clas…

- Evaluation of Regulatory B10 Cells in Common Variable Immunodeficiency Patients with and without Autoimmunity. [Journal Article]Iran J Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2026 Aug 12; 25(Sup 11):152-164.IJ
- Common variable immunodeficiency disease (CVID) is the most prevalent symptomatic inborn errors of immunity, determined by defective B cell function, impaired antibody production, and susceptibility to frequent respiratory infections, enteropathy, autoimmunity, and malignancy. Due to the importance of autoimmunity in CVID and the probable role of regulatory B lymphocytes, we aimed to determine th…

- Transient hypogammaglobulinemia of infancy: revisiting an old entity. [Review]Expert Rev Clin Immunol. 2026 Oct 04; :1-9. [Online ahead of print]ER
- Transient hypogammaglobulinemia of infancy (THI) is one of the most common primary antibody deficiencies presenting in early childhood and is characterized by delayed maturation of humoral immunity with spontaneous normalization of immunoglobulin G (IgG) levels in most patients. Although THI has traditionally been considered a benign, self-limited disorder, increasing evidence suggests that it re…

- Are Selenium Status and Inflammation Linked to Cardiometabolic Risk Factors in Inborn Errors of Immunity? [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The present findings suggest alterations in the endogenous antioxidant defense system in patients with IEI, characterized by reduced erythrocyte GPx activity and lower plasma selenium concentrations. The inverse association between selenium and usCRP concentrations suggests a potential link between selenium status and systemic inflammation. However, these findings should be interpreted cautiously, as inflammation may influence circulating selenium concentrations, and the cross-sectional design does not establish causal inferences. Further longitudinal studies are warranted to clarify the relationship between selenium status, inflammation, and antioxidant defense in IEI.

- Chronic autoimmune cytopenias in pediatric age group: Clinical features and outcome. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Management of chronic immune cytopenia remains challenging. Chronic immune thrombocytopenia had the worse end of study treatment response. The contribution of genetic predisposition in areas with high consanguinity rates remains to be determined.

- The immunogenic cross-talk in pediatric MASLD: does subclinical immune dysfunction accelerate early hepatic destruction? [Review]
- The pathogenesis of pediatric Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) is increasingly recognized as an immunometabolic process driven by chronic low-grade inflammation (metainflammation). While nutritional surplus and visceral adiposity are established primary drivers, the contribution of underlying subclinical host immune variations remains largely unexplored. This mini-…

- Cardiac tamponade caused by effusive-constrictive pericarditis in a patient with common variable immunodeficiency: a case report. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: ECP with tamponade is a rare life-threatening complication in CVID patients. In the case of unexplained cardiopulmonary failure in an immunocompromised patient, tamponade cannot be considered only due to the infection. Urgent echocardiography, drainage, and investigation of various infectious, tuberculous, malignant and inflammatory causes is crucial.

- The basal ganglia comprise a metabolically active group of nuclei implicated in refining movement and emotion. We present the case of a 52-year-old man with common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) who presented to the hospital with severe thrombocytopenia and concern for recurrent basal ganglia stroke. Three months prior, the patient presented for acute confusion and mydriasis and underwent MRI b…

- ABACHAI - Safety and efficacy of abatacept (s.c.) in patients with CTLA4 insufficiency or LRBA deficiency, a phase II clinical trial. [Journal Article]J Allergy Clin Immunol. 2026 Sep 19. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: ABACHAI was the first prospective interventional trial, examining abatacept treatment in CTLA-4 insufficiency and LRBA deficiency. Abatacept demonstrated a favourable safety profile and organ-specific efficacy with strongest responses in lymphoproliferation and immune activation. Patients with refractory cytopenias or progressive organ involvement may require additional or alternative therapeutic strategies.
