- Heterotrophic inorganic carbon fixation varies with temperature and resource availability in marine and soil bacterial isolates. [Journal Article]Appl Environ Microbiol. 2026 Sep 28; :e0062826. [Online ahead of print]AE
- Inorganic carbon use in cellular metabolism is ubiquitous in all living organisms. The assimilation of inorganic carbon into biomass via heterotrophic inorganic carbon fixation (HICF) is estimated to contribute significantly to global carbon fixation, yet the controls on this process in strictly heterotrophic microorganisms remain poorly understood. To identify potential drivers of HICF, we culti…

- Validation of an ovine lung parenchyma material model with pressures representing the breathing cycle for high-velocity impacts. [Journal Article]Biomech Model Mechanobiol. 2026 Sep 27; 25(5).BM
- Lung injury risk from high-velocity blunt impacts is thought to depend on lung pressure. Risk is typically assessed with finite element models (FEMs), but models do not typically account for lung pressure, nor do they account for lung viscoelasticity. The objective of this study is to translate and then validate a set of lung material models that consider both tissue viscoelasticity and pressure …

- Bio-Based Brewer's Spent Grain Particleboards: Effect of Rosin Coating and Wood Veneer Reinforcement on Structure and Properties. [Journal Article]Polymers (Basel). 2026 Sep 20; 18(18).P
- Brewer's spent grain (BSG) is an abundant agro-industrial by-product with potential for manufacturing sustainable particleboards, although its relatively low cellulose content limits the mechanical performance of the resulting boards. In this study, particleboards were produced from BSG using a soybean protein concentrate (SPC)-based adhesive at three adhesive contents. In addition, rosin surface…

- Synergistic Valorization of Ternary Industrial Solid Wastes for Sustainable Loess Stabilization: Mix Optimization, Strength Evolution, and Microstructural Mechanisms. [Journal Article]
- This study investigates the mechanical properties and strength formation mechanism of loess solidified with a ternary blend of fly ash, lithium slag, and magnesium slag. The mix proportion was optimized using response surface methodology with a Box-Behnken design. Unconfined compressive strength (UCS) tests, digital image correlation (DIC), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscop…

- Stress Field Prediction and DIC-Informed Spatial Regularization for AlSi10Mg Alloy Tensile Specimens Based on Graph Neural Networks. [Journal Article]
- High-fidelity finite-element (FE) simulation of nonlinear full-field responses in AlSi10Mg tensile specimens is computationally expensive, while the available digital image correlation (DIC) data in this study consist only of engineering-strain screenshots rather than exportable numerical fields. This work therefore develops a simulation-to-experiment framework for rapid full-field stress predict…

- Camel Milk Exosomes Alleviate Doxorubicin-Induced Cardiotoxicity by Regulating Apoptosis and Autophagy via the NF-κB and MAPK Pathways. [Journal Article]
- Doxorubicin (Dox)-induced cardiotoxicity (DIC) is a major clinical challenge in cancer therapy. Camel milk exosomes (CMEs) have been applied in anti-tumor treatments as they have a variety of effects, including on inflammation, oxidative stress, metastasis, and apoptosis. However, their role in DIC treatment remains incompletely understood. This research was designed to evaluate the protection pr…

- Calycosin Safeguards Mitochondrial Genomic Stability and Iron Homeostasis via the NRF2/NRF1-TFAM Axis to Mitigate Doxorubicin-Induced Cardiotoxicity. [Journal Article]
- Doxorubicin (DOX) remains a cornerstone of chemotherapy but is limited by dose-dependent doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity (DIC). Recent evidence suggests that mitochondrial dysfunction, particularly oxidative stress and ferroptosis, drives DIC progression. While the flavonoid Calycosin (CAL) is known for its cardioprotective properties, the precise mechanism by which it maintains mitochondrial …

- BMSC-derived EVs alleviate doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity via miR-210-3p involving the ACVR1B-SMAD3-PGC-1α signaling axis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: BMSC-EVs-derived miR-210-3p attenuates doxorubicin-induced mitochondrial damage, an effect that was accompanied by suppression of the ACVR1B-SMAD3 cascade and restoration of PGC-1α. This study proposes a potential "EVs-miR-210-3p-ACVR1B" regulatory axis, highlighting candidate targets for further therapeutic exploration in DIC.

- From Morphology to Mechanics: Quantitative Evidence of Glenoid Fossa Depth Variation Shaping the Traumatic Response of the Mandibular Condyle. [Editorial]J Stomatol Oral Maxillofac Surg. 2026 Sep 24; :103010. [Online ahead of print]JS
- CONCLUSIONS: Glenoid fossa depth is a key modulator of the mandibular condyle's response to traumatic loading. A deeper fossa enhanced osseous containment, which effectively disperses traumatic load, mitigates stress concentration and displacement at the condylar neck, and consequently, may lower the risk of fracture. These findings provide a quantitative biomechanical basis for using glenoid fossa depth as a potential imaging biomarker for fracture risk assessment.

- The prognostic value of DIC score combined with lactate in patients with cirrhosis complicated by variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding: a single-center retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The combination of DIC score and lactate independently predicts the risks of 28-day mortality, MODS, and ICU admission in patients with liver cirrhosis and VUGIB. Multidimensional validation demonstrated that this model exhibited superior discrimination, calibration, and net clinical benefit compared with any single score, and thus can be applied for early risk stratification at admission.
