- Associations of dietary proteins with serum total testosterone and sex hormone-binding globulin concentrations in middle-aged men. [Journal Article]Int J Food Sci Nutr. 2026 Sep 09; :1-13. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- Evidence linking dietary protein intake with testosterone and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) is limited. We examined these associations in 2,546 Finnish men aged 42-60 years using 4-day food records and multivariable-adjusted models. Higher total and animal protein intakes and a higher animal-to-plant protein ratio were associated with lower total testosterone and SHBG, whereas plant protein…

- MicroRNA and Nutrient Metabolic Protein Signatures in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Their Links to Insulin Resistance and Inflammation. [Journal Article]J Vis Exp. 2026 Sep 08; (235).JV
- Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine and metabolic disorder in women of reproductive age, but the relationships between circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) and nutrition-related proteins remain incompletely understood. This study investigated the associations of serum miR-146a, miR-642a, and miR-2861 with metabolic and inflammatory markers in PCOS. The study included 62 women with PC…

- Adolescent depression as a systemic multimorbidity catalyst: integrated genetic and metabolic pathway analysis. [Journal Article]Epidemiol Psychiatr Sci. 2026 Sep 09; 35:e53.EP
- CONCLUSIONS: Adolescent depression confers systemic vulnerability through genetic and metabolic mechanisms, with amplified risks in females and individuals aged ≤55 years. These findings support early, integrated interventions to mitigate long-term multimorbidity.

- Naringin Administration Is Associated with Reduced Reproductive Toxicity Following Subchronic Low-Dose Chlorpyrifos Exposure in Rats. [Journal Article]Iran J Pharm Res. 2026 Jan-Dec; 25(1):e169653.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Naringin administration was associated with attenuation of CPF-induced reproductive alterations and improved oxidative stress markers and hormonal parameters. These findings support further investigation of naringin for pesticide-induced male reproductive dysfunction; however, validation in humans is required. The limited range of naringin doses and the absence of molecular investigations highlight the need for further studies to elucidate the underlying mechanisms and translational relevance to human reproductive health.

- Understanding the Endocrine Consequences of Transfusion-Dependent Thalassemia: A Detailed Exploration of Key Influences. [Journal Article]Indian J Hematol Blood Transfus. 2026 Sep; 42(5):1839-1849.IJ
- Children with transfusion-dependent thalassemia (TDT) often face various endocrine complications from iron overload, extramedullary hematopoiesis, and bone marrow expansion, influenced by genetic and non-genetic factors like blood transfusions and iron chelation. This study aims to evaluate the interplay between genetic predisposition, iron overload, and endocrine dysfunction. This was a prospect…

- Perceived stress during gender-affirming hormone therapy: a comparative study of feminizing and masculinizing hormone therapy in an international multicenter prospective cohort. [Journal Article]Anxiety Stress Coping. 2026 Sep 08; :1-15. [Online ahead of print]AS
- Gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) can improve mental wellbeing, but psychological responses to GAHT may differ between feminizing (FHT) and masculinizing hormone therapy (MHT). The effects of GAHT on perceived stress, particularly over time, remain underexplored. This study examined (1) within-person changes in perceived stress after 3 and 12 months of GAHT and (2) potential differences in …

- Testosterone-Related Voice Change in Cisgender Women: A Survey of Prescribers and Voice Clinicians. [Journal Article]J Voice. 2026 Sep 08. [Online ahead of print]JV
- CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggests that prescribing providers and voice clinicians alike recognize voice change as an increasingly common androgenic effect of testosterone therapy, though counseling and management varied. Laryngologists often relied on clinical judgment, including a temporal relationship between testosterone exposure and subsequent voice change, reflecting the absence of standardized diagnostic criteria. These findings underscore the need for voice‑related testosterone research in cisgender women and collaboration between prescribing providers and voice clinicians for informed counseling and timely referral when voice changes occur.

- Estrogen-progestogen therapy remains the clinical gold standard for managing menopausal symptoms; however, the growing emphasis on precision medicine underscores the need for individualized strategies for females with specific contraindications or distinct clinical profiles. This narrative review examines the physiological mechanisms, clinical efficacy, and safety profiles of progestogen-only and…

- Optimizing outcomes of micro-TESE for men with nonobstructive azoospermia. [Journal Article]Curr Opin Urol. 2026 Aug 06. [Online ahead of print]CO
- CONCLUSIONS: Surpassing the current ceiling of micro-TESE success requires a highly individualized, multidisciplinary strategy. This encompasses rigorous genetic and endocrine profiling, phenotype-specific preoperative optimization, and meticulous, tissue-sparing microsurgical techniques. As noninvasive biomarkers and artificial intelligence transition into clinical maturity, their integration will further refine patient selection and intraoperative decision-making, ultimately elevating the standard of care for this severe cohort of male infertility.

- The Neuroendocrine-Cardiovascular Axis in Chronic Kidney Disease: the role of prolactinand gonadal dysfunction. [Review]Cardiorenal Med. 2026 Sep 08; :1. [Online ahead of print]CM
- CONCLUSIONS: Hyperprolactinemia and gonadal dysfunction represent potentially relevant non-traditional cardiovascular risk factors in CKD. Their integration within the broader neuroendocrine-cardiovascular axis provides a novel pathophysiological framework linking endocrine abnormalities, uremic toxicity, and cardiovascular disease. Improved recognition of these disturbances may open new perspectives for cardiovascular risk stratification and targeted therapeutic interventions in CKD and dialysis populations.

- Trans and nonbinary adults assigned female at birth (TNBF) are at elevated cardiovascular risk, an effect proposed to occur secondary to testosterone use. However, gender minority (GM) stress may also contribute to cardiovascular risk. Therefore, we examined the relative association of GM stress and testosterone to blood pressure (BP) and its regulation in TNBF adults. In 24 TNBF adults (12 not u…
