- Interface Control of Poly(L-lactic Acid)/Hydroxyapatite Composites by Using Bisphosphonate. [Journal Article]
- Poly-(L-lactic acid)/hydroxyapatite (PLLA/HAp) composites have attracted significant attention as environmentally friendly tough materials due to their excellent biocompatibility and mechanical strength. However, the poor organic-inorganic interfacial adhesion between PLLA and HAp has been a significant challenge, often resulting in the premature elution of PLLA and a reduction in the mechanical …

- Comparative efficacy of interventions for vascular calcification and stiffness in dialysis patients:a systematic review and network meta-analysis. [Review]Cardiorenal Med. 2026 Sep 08; :1. [Online ahead of print]CM
- CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that SUCRA rankings indicate STS has a potential comprehensive advantage in improving vascular stiffness and delaying calcification progression, making it a reasonable exploratory choice for dialysis patients with concurrent VC and VS. While EA ranks highest in SUCRA for reducing CAC volume score, it has limited impact on VS and requires caution regarding long-term safety. Given the limited sample size, network sparsity for some outcomes, and mostly non-significant between-group comparisons, large-scale, head-to-head RCTs are needed to further validate these findings.

- Surface Functionalization of Metal Oxide Nanoparticles: Interfacial Design Rules for High-Loading Electrochemical Nanofluids. [Journal Article]Langmuir. 2026 Aug 25; 42(33):24099-24110.L
- High-solid-loading nanofluids are attractive for energy storage and related electrochemical applications but remain fundamentally limited by aggregation, sedimentation, and prohibitive viscosity growth. This work establishes that Brønsted acid site density, governed by the acidity, grafting density, and molecular structure of surface-grafted functional groups, serves as a unifying design paramete…

- Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid and Other Dentine Bioactive Molecule-Releasing Agents for Regenerative Endodontic Procedures: A Systematic Review. [Review]Int Endod J. 2026 Aug 10. [Online ahead of print]IE
- CONCLUSIONS: Qualitative analysis suggested that 9% etidronic acid (HEBP), 1% phytic acid, chitosan and 10% citric acid might serve as alternatives to 17% EDTA use for releasing bioactive molecules from dentine. However, the methodological issues and lack of robust evidence limit the strength and comparability of the findings, highlighting the need for further well-designed and rigorous studies before clinical translation.

- Effects of Continuous Chelation with Etidronate on Mechanical Properties of the Root Canal Dentin: A Systematic Review with Meta-Analysis. [Review]Dent J (Basel). 2026 Jul 18; 14(7).DJ
- Background: Continuous chelation with etidronic acid (1-Hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid, HEDP) has been proposed as a less aggressive alternative to sequential irrigation with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) in endodontics. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to compare the effects of these two protocols on the mechanical properties and structure of root dentin. Methods:…

- A Self-Healing, Transparent, and Hydrophobic Flame-Retardant Coating for Wood Based on Bio-Derived Flame Retardants and Fluorosilane Surface Treatment. [Journal Article]
- Wood's inherent flammability, arising from its cellular organic composition, demands effective protective strategies. This study aimed to develop a multifunctional bio-based wood coating simultaneously integrating flame retardancy, optical transparency, moisture-triggered self-healing, and surface hydrophobicity within a single formulation. An intumescent flame retardant (PAGHR) was synthesized v…

- Application of High-Performance Liquid Chromatography to Quantify Formaldehyde Release From the Chemical Interaction of Sodium Hypochlorite and EDTA. [Journal Article]J Endod. 2026 Sep; 52(9):1508-1515.e3.JE
- CONCLUSIONS: HPLC is an appropriate analytical method for detecting formaldehyde after the chemical interaction of NaOCl and EDTA. The interaction between NaOCl and HEDP did not result in the release of formaldehyde. Further research is required to justify patient exposure rates and potential occupational health hazards in clinical settings.

- Dissolution versus dislodgment of dentin debris by pulsed erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser-activated endodontic irrigants. [Journal Article]
- The aim of this study was to weigh dissolving versus physical effects of laser-activated irrigation (LAI) when cleaning simulated human root canals. Dentin debris was selected as the composite organic/inorganic substrate. The cleaning effects of plain 3% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl, proteolytic), plain 9% 1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDP, decalcifying), or combined 3% NaOCl + 9% HED…

- Effect of temperature and ultrasonic activation on the antibacterial efficacy of sodium hypochlorite alone and combined with etidronic acid in an internal root resorption model. [Journal Article]Arch Oral Biol. 2026 Jul; 187:106598.AO
- CONCLUSIONS: Both temperature elevation and PUI improved antibacterial efficacy, and NaOCl/HEDP demonstrated the strongest temperature-dependent response. Their combined use resulted in the highest bacterial reduction, although complete bacterial removal was not achieved.

- The effectiveness of an adjunctive SAF Infinitum procedure performed under continuous chelation was evaluated for reducing hard-tissue debris (HTD) after single-file root canal preparation. Thirty mandibular incisors with flattened canals were pair-matched and prepared using Reciproc Blue R25 or XP-endo Rise Shaper under irrigation with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite combined with etidronic acid. - Cleaning ability of reciprocation and rotation motions in conjunction with either continuous or sequential chelation: An SEM study. [Journal Article]J Conserv Dent Endod. 2026 Mar; 29(3):252-259.JC
- CONCLUSIONS: The cleaning abilities of the OC and OR file systems are comparable. Sequential chelation resulted in cleaner and more open dentinal tubules regardless of the file system used. Continuous chelation with reciprocation yielded cleaner canals than with rotation motion.

- Effect of ethylenediaminetetraacetic, etidronic, and peracetic acids with different concentrations on the removal of Enterococcus faecalis biofilms from root canal walls: an in vitro study. [Journal Article]
- E. faecalis is one of the most important microbiological factors responsible for the failures after root canal treatment. The knowledge about the efficacy of HEBP and PAA with different concentrations, when they are used alone or associated with NaOCl on E. faecalis biofilms is limited. In the present study, the efficacy of 17% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), 9% and 18% etidronic acid (HE…

- Effect of Dual Rinse HEDP on the push-out bond strength of AH Plus and AH Plus Bioceramic sealers: an in vitro study. [Journal Article]
- BACKGROUND: The adhesion of root canal sealers to dentin is critical for preventing microleakage and ensuring long-term endodontic success. Irrigating agents influence dentin surface characteristics and thus affect sealer bond strength. This study aimed to compare the effects of continuous chelating (NaOCl + HEDP) and sequential chelating (NaOCl followed by EDTA) protocols on the bond strength of…
