- Diagnostic challenges in primary aldosteronism evaluation and finerenone use. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the diagnostic challenge of PA evaluation in a patient with normal-range aldosterone and suppressed renin and provides clinical experience with finerenone after intolerance to a steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist.

- Dissolution Rate and Stability Improvement of Hydrochlorothiazide and Valsartan by Co-Amorphous Formulation. [Journal Article]
- The current study aimed to improve the dissolution rate and physical stability of two antihypertensive drugs, hydrochlorothiazide, and valsartan, through the development of a co-amorphous system. A co-amorphous system was successfully prepared at molar ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:6 employing rotary evaporation technique. Characterization of the formulations was performed using powder X-ray diffract…

- Predicting the reduction of functional mitral regurgitation with optimized medical therapy in HFrEF patients by standard echocardiography and non-invasive pressure-volume loop model. [Journal Article]Int J Cardiol. 2026 Sep 30; :134956. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: The combined assessment of echocardiography-derived VE and LVEDVi was associated with FMR improvement in the primary model; however, VE was no longer independently associated after additional adjustment for baseline E/e'. FMR improvement was closely associated with LV reverse remodeling, although a causal direction cannot be established from this observational study.

- Metabolic and Clinical Outcomes of Combined Pitavastatin and Valsartan Therapy in Patients With Acute Myocardial Infarction: A Multicenter Prospective Observational Study. [Journal Article]J Lipid Atheroscler. 2026 Sep; 15(3):533-543.JL
- CONCLUSIONS: This multicenter, prospective observational study of 836 patients with acute myocardial infarction and 48-week follow-up demonstrated that combined pitavastatin and valsartan therapy was associated with a low incidence of MACEs and was not associated with unfavorable metabolic profiles, although it should be cautiously interpreted due to the lack of a control arm and missing substantial follow-up data.

- The consequences of medicine shortages on healthcare utilization and care fragmentation. [Journal Article]
- We evaluate the consequences of medicine supply disruptions for healthcare utilization, care fragmentation, and costs. To provide causal evidence on such systemic effects, we examine the global recall of valsartan in July 2018, a widely used antihypertensive medicine. Drawing on German healthcare claims data covering 30,976 affected patients, we employ a difference-in-differences design with matc…

- Prognostic effect of polypharmacy in ambulatory patients with heart failure: a machine learning-based analysis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: High polypharmacy is associated with reduced long-term survival in patients with heart failure. This highlights the need for personalized prescribing strategies to minimize the risks associated with polypharmacy while maximizing therapeutic benefits.

- Stress-Induced Cardiomyopathy Following Elective Lumbar Disc Nucleotomy: Multimodal Cardiac Evaluation With 2D-STE and D-SPECT in a Patient With Severe Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) Contraindication. [Case Reports]
- Minimally invasive lumbar spinal surgery can precipitate rare perioperative Takotsubo syndrome (stress-induced cardiomyopathy, SIC), a condition frequently misdiagnosed as acute myocardial infarction. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) serves as a valuable diagnostic tool for the multimodal evaluation of Takotsubo syndrome, helping exclude alternative etiologies such as myocarditis. Diagnosis of Ta…

- Sex differences in leptin levels but not in the leptin response to sacubitril/valsartan in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Women with HFrEF showed markedly higher circulating leptin levels than men at both baseline and follow-up. Leptin levels increased significantly in both sexes. However, there were no significant differences in absolute or relative leptin changes between women and men. Sex influences baseline leptin concentrations, but not the response to ARNI therapy. Further prospective studies are needed to clarify the mechanisms and clinical significance of leptin changes during sacubitril/valsartan treatment.

- Sacubitril/Valsartan in Patients with HFrEF Undergoing Maintenance Hemodialysis, Evidence of Cardiac Reverse Remodeling During 12-Month Follow-Up: Case Series. [Case Reports]
- Background and Clinical Significance: Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) is highly prevalent among patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) undergoing maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) and is associated with poor clinical outcomes. Sacubitril/valsartan (SV) is a cornerstone therapy for HFrEF; however, its use in dialysis patients remains limited due to safety concerns and lack…

- The hemodynamic effects of sacubitril/valsartan in the first 24 h of initiation in pediatric cardiac intensive care unit patients: insights using high-fidelity data. [Journal Article]
- Sacubitril/valsartan is increasingly used in pediatric cardiac patients, though its acute physiologic effects in critically ill children remain incompletely characterized. We sought to define the early hemodynamic and tissue-level response to sacubitril/valsartan using high-fidelity physiologic data. This was a retrospective study of children in a cardiac intensive care unit with continuous physi…

- Long-Term Renal Function and Clinical Outcomes of Sacubitril/Valsartan in HFrEF and Stage 3-4 Chronic Kidney Disease: A 24-Month Single-Centre Cohort. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this single-arm cohort of HFrEF with stage 3-4 CKD, S/V was generally well tolerated, with stable renal function and low event rates over 24 months. These descriptive, hypothesis-generating findings cannot establish comparative benefit and require confirmation in controlled studies.

- Effect of Sacubitril/Valsartan versus Angiotensin Receptor Blocker or Calcium Channel Blockers on Ambulatory Blood Pressure and Safety in Hypertensive Patients: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials. [Journal Article]J Cardiovasc Pharmacol. 2026 Sep 18. [Online ahead of print]JC
- Sacubitril/valsartan, the first angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitor (ARNIs), has antihypertensive and organ-protective effects. However, previous meta-analyses have mainly compared it with angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) and neglected other commonly used antihypertensive agents, while its effect on ambulatory blood pressure remains unclear. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the effi…

- To determine the effects of the comprehensive disease-modifying pharmacological approach among patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, a cross-trial, aggregate-data analysis was performed to estimate the expected combined effect of quintuple therapy by multiplying trial-level HRs, assuming independent and multiplicative treatment effects from Phase III randomised clinical tria…

- Long-Term Control of Refractory Cardiogenic Pleural Effusion in a Cat Treated with Sacubitril/Valsartan and Hydrochlorothiazide: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Animals (Basel). 2026 Aug 31; 16(17).A
- Sacubitril/valsartan is an angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) widely used in human heart failure and has demonstrated potential cardiorenal and neurohormonal effects in experimental canine studies. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that acts at a more distal segment of the nephron than furosemide. Its addition to loop diuretic therapy may enhance sodium and fluid excretion …
