- Noninvasive Diagnostic Pathways in Chronic Coronary Syndromes: The Role of Traditional Stress Testing. [Review]Cardiol Clin. 2026 Nov; 44(4):583-594.CC
- Chronic coronary syndromes represent one of the principle causes of death and disability all over the world. ESC guidelines suggest the use of clinical risk scores such as the Risk Factor-Weighted Clinical Likelihood to estimate the probability of obstructive coronary artery disease, and underline the role of functional imaging tests, such as stress echocardiography. This article offers a compreh…

- Total Left Main Occlusion ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction Complicated by Cardiogenic Shock and Delayed Sinus Node Dysfunction. [Case Reports]Am J Case Rep. 2026 Sep 29; 27:e953894.AJ
- BACKGROUND Acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) due to total occlusion of an unprotected left main coronary artery (LMCA) is rare and often fatal, particularly when complicated by cardiogenic shock. CASE REPORT We report the case of a 58-year-old man who presented with sudden, severe chest pain due to an extensive anterolateral STEMI. His condition rapidly deteriorated, with t…

- Response to Dobutamine in Septic Shock With Myocardial Dysfunction: A Single-Center Retrospective Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In septic shock with myocardial dysfunction, early hemodynamic responsiveness to dobutamine identified a subgroup with a more favorable clinical trajectory. Resting echocardiographic parameters did not identify responders. These findings are hypothesis-generating and require prospective confirmation.

- Stellate Ganglion Nrf2 Modulates Oxidative Stress and Heart Rate Responses in Mice and Rats with Heart Failure. [Journal Article]
- Chronic heart failure (CHF) is a growing global health concern characterized, in part, by progressive sympathetic overactivation, which exacerbates this condition. Accumulating evidence identifies oxidative stress as a key driver of sympatho-excitation, mediated by excess reactive oxygen species (ROS) and impaired antioxidant defenses. The redox-sensitive transcription factor nuclear factor eryth…

- Impaired mitochondrial proteostasis underlies cardiomyocyte bioenergetic dysfunction in a murine 3-hit model of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. [Journal Article]Am J Physiol Heart Circ Physiol. 2026 Sep 19. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) predominantly affects older individuals with multiple comorbidities. Although mitochondrial dysfunction appears to be a major contributor to diastolic dysfunction, the mechanisms underlying it during HFpEF remain unclear. We used a clinically relevant two-hit HFpEF model in aged mice to investigate remodeling of cardiomyocyte mitochondrial pr…

- Novel Transvalvular Flow Criteria Reduce Indeterminate Stress Echocardiography and Refine Risk Stratification in Low-Gradient Aortic Stenosis. [Journal Article]Circ Cardiovasc Imaging. 2026 Sep 23; :e018621. [Online ahead of print]CC
- CONCLUSIONS: In this real-world study, the transvalvular flow-based criteria for severe AS markedly reduced the number of indeterminate DSE. Within the indeterminate AS group, patients with reclassified severe AS derived benefit from aortic valve intervention.

- Comparison of arterial blood pressure and quality of induction and recovery in horses anesthetized with diazepam or guaifenesin co-induction combined with xylazine and ketamine and maintained on isoflurane. [Journal Article]
- The objective of this prospective alternating crossover study was to compare quality of induction and recovery and cardiopulmonary function in horses administered guaifenesin or diazepam as co-induction drugs. Six healthy horses were anesthetized twice to undergo an MRI and surgical biopsies, with 5 wk between treatments. Horses were sedated intravenously (IV) with xylazine, 0.6 mg/kg BW, and IV …

- Effects of sympathomimetic agents on heart rate variability during general anesthesia in Thoroughbred horses. [Journal Article]
- Heart rate variability (HRV) is widely used as a noninvasive index of autonomic nervous system activity. The objective of this study was to determine whether the administration of sympathomimetic agents alters HRV indices during general anesthesia in Thoroughbred horses. Five healthy Thoroughbred horses were anesthetized with sevoflurane in oxygen. During 2-5 hr of general anesthesia, five treatm…

- Community Pharmacist Support for Complex Palliative Pharmacotherapy and Home Infusion in Advanced Heart Failure: A Case Report. [Journal Article]J Pain Palliat Care Pharmacother. 2026 Sep 19; :1-8. [Online ahead of print]JP
- Advanced heart failure (HF) may require complex palliative pharmacotherapy, including continuous home infusion of inotropes, diuretics, and opioids, together with careful management of infusion devices, injectable-drug quality, compatibility, and symptom monitoring. However, practical reports describing community pharmacist involvement in such care remain limited, particularly from the pre-discha…

- [Comparison of chiral separation performance of (2-hydroxyethyl-β)-cyclodextrin bonded superficially porous and fully porous particle chiral stationary phases in supercritical fluid chromatography and reversed-phase liquid chromatography]. [Journal Article]
- Chromatography remains a cornerstone technique in analyzing chiral compounds. The development and selection of chiral stationary phases (CSPs) are central to achieving high-resolution enantiomeric separation. This study presents a novel regeneration and functionalization strategy for the preparation of high-performance superficially porous particle (SPP)-CSP, offering a promising alternative to c…

- Altered Neurovascular Coupling Dynamics During Dobutamine-Induced Acute Stress. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Dobutamine-induced acute stress modulated NVC dynamics. Participants with lower DBP in the resting state and higher SBP during acute stress were more prone to have increased NVC induced by stress.

- Computed Tomographic Findings and Clinical Manifestations of Acute Severe Hypersensitivity to a Non-Ionic Iodinated Contrast Agent in a Castrated Male Dog: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Animals (Basel). 2026 Sep 01; 16(17).A
- Severe adverse reactions induced by non-ionic contrast media remain an uncommon complication in veterinary medicine. This report describes the clinical manifestations and sequential computed tomography alterations indicative of acute shock captured during 2 min and 4 min delayed phases in a 10-year-old, castrated male Maltese dog. The patient, previously diagnosed with a cutaneous mast cell tumor…

- Clinical significance of resting and dobutamine stress myocardial work in cirrhotic cardiomyopathy. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: MW was decreased in patients with CCM. Neither MW indices nor a diagnosis of CCM was predictive of the study outcome. Liver disease severity measured by MELD-Na score and E/e' were independent predictors of the study outcome. Although MW is a load-independent measure, in this study, it did not add to the diagnosis CCM more than GLS. Further large-scale studies are required to establish the role of MW in evaluation of patients with liver cirrhosis.
