- Kratom: An Emerging Cause of Drug-Induced Hyperpigmentation. [Review]Cutis. 2026 Sep; 118(3):82-84.C
- Mitragyna speciosa, a tree of the Rubiaceae family native to Southeast Asia, is the plant used in kratom products. Traditional use involves chewing fresh leaves or brewing them into tea, whereas modern products are marketed as loose powders, capsules, tablets, and other formulations. Kratom use has increased in recent years and is an underrecognized cause of hyperpigmentation, which is hypothesiz…

- Delayed serum sickness-like reaction mimicking septic shock after antivenom therapy: A case report. [Case Reports]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Oct 23; 105(43):e51039.M
- CONCLUSIONS: Delayed antivenom-related serum sickness-like reactions may mimic septic shock and may be accompanied by elevated procalcitonin. In patients who develop rash and hypotension within days after antivenom therapy, clinicians should treat possible sepsis promptly while reassessing antivenom exposure, skin findings, complement levels, urinalysis, microbiological evidence, and treatment response.

- Cutaneous Adverse Events Associated with Semaglutide, Liraglutide and Tirzepatide: A Systematic Review. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Although most cutaneous AEs associated with GLP-1 and GIP/GLP-1 RAs are mild and manageable, clinically relevant drug-specific differences exist. The recognition of common and uncommon skin manifestations may facilitate earlier diagnosis, support treatment adherence, and reduce the adverse outcomes.

- Noninfectious skin lesions in Crohn's disease patients treated with ustekinumab: a multicenter observational retrospective GETAID study. [Multicenter Study]J Crohns Colitis. 2026 Oct 09; 20(10).JC
- CONCLUSIONS: Skin lesions requiring dermatological assessment occurred during ustekinumab treatment and displayed heterogeneous clinical phenotypes. A history of anti-TNF-induced immune-mediated skin reactions may identify patients at increased risk, particularly for psoriasiform eruptions.

- Psoriasiform Drug Eruption following Fremanezumab: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: The complex effect of CGRP inhibitors on immune modulation may increase the risk of inflammatory skin reactions. These skin manifestations are important for clinicians to be aware of in patients with and without a history of inflammatory conditions. This case report offers further insight into the possible immune system effects present in inflammatory conditions such as psoriasis.

- Persistent Truncal Eruption With Hematologic Disease. [Journal Article]Int J Dermatol. 2026 Oct 22. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- We present a clinicopathological challenge involving a persistent truncal eruption in a patient with Waldenström macroglobulinemia. Clinical examination showed erythematous to violaceous macules and plaques, and biopsy demonstrated a dermal lymphoplasmacytic infiltrate with IgM/κ restriction. Molecular analysis identified MYD88 L265P in the cutaneous specimen. Integration of the clinical history,…

- Concurrent Versus Sequential Postoperative Radiotherapy and CDK4/6 Inhibitors in Breast Cancer with Positive Regional Nodes: A Multi-Center Safety and Toxicity Study. [Journal Article]Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys. 2026 Oct 22. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Concurrent CDK4/6 inhibitor therapy and postoperative RT demonstrate a manageable safety and tolerance profile. Given that treatment discontinuation due to ≥G 3 toxicities was observed in both groups, close toxicity monitoring and comprehensive management throughout the treatment course should be implemented when combining RT with CDK4/6i.

- Case Report: Fatal varicella-zoster virus meningoencephalitis with Froin-like cerebrospinal fluid and hydrocephalus following pembrolizumab-containing chemoimmunotherapy. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights VZV CNS infection as an important diagnostic consideration in ICI-treated patients who develop herpes zoster and neurological symptoms, because infection may mimic or coexist with a neurological irAE. The temporal relationship with pembrolizumab raises, but does not establish, the possibility that PD-1 blockade modified the inflammatory response. Prompt virological testing and adequately dosed antiviral therapy are central to management; the role of adjunctive immunomodulation remains uncertain and should be individualized.

- Skin Toxic Effects and Survival With Enfortumab Vedotin-Pembrolizumab in Advanced Urothelial Carcinoma. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this cohort study of 185 patients with locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma receiving first-line EVP therapy, treatment-emergent skin toxic effects were associated with longer OS. These findings support further prospective validation of skin toxic effects as an early clinical marker of treatment benefit and investigation of the biological mechanisms underlying this association.

- Association between prophylactic desloratadine use and docetaxel-induced skin toxicities in patients with early-stage breast cancer: an inverse probability-weighted retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Desloratadine prophylaxis was associated with lower skin-toxicity risk, particularly for pruritus. Rash risk was lower but imprecisely estimated; HFS risk was not lower. These hypothesis-generating findings warrant validation in a prospective randomized trial.

- [Severe cutaneous adverse reactions]. [Review]Ugeskr Laeger. 2026 Sep 21; 188(39).UL
- Severe cutaneous adverse reactions are rare, potentially life-threatening T-cell-mediated drug reactions. They present with rapid onset skin lesions and may involve the mucosa and multiple organs. This review finds that early identification, drug withdrawal, supportive care, and immunomodulatory therapy are essential. JAK inhibitors have shown promise in Stevens-Johnson's syndrome/toxic epidermal…

- Diagnostic Complexity of Adult-Onset Still's Disease in the Setting of Nosocomial Infection and Antibiotic Hypersensitivity. [Journal Article]
- Adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) is a diagnosis of exclusion and may be difficult to recognize when infection and drug hypersensitivity coexist. A 31-year-old woman presented with high-spiking fever, arthralgia, and a generalized eruption after ampicillin exposure. Initial investigations for infection and autoimmune disease were unrevealing. Her clinical course was subsequently complicated by s…

- Phenotype Switching in Pediatric Inflammatory Skin Diseases During Biologic Therapy: A Literature Review Focused on Atopic Dermatitis and Psoriasis. [Review]
- Biologic therapies are highly efficacious for pediatric atopic dermatitis (AD) and psoriasis (PsO); however, their expanding use has led to increased reports of phenotype switching-a paradoxical condition where biologics induce new-onset immune-mediated dermatoses. To address clinical uncertainty regarding these complex reactions, this review evaluates real-world case reports, case series, and ob…

- Evaluation of Suspected Hypersensitivity Reactions to Oral Iron Preparations in Children. [Journal Article]Int Arch Allergy Immunol. 2026 Oct 15; :1. [Online ahead of print]IA
- CONCLUSIONS: True hypersensitivity to oral iron preparations appears to be uncommon in children. Appropriate allergy evaluation, including drug provocation testing when indicated, may help clarify suspected reactions and prevent unnecessary avoidance of iron therapy.
