- Real-world trends in anti-androgen prescribing and associated costs for prostate cancer in Japan: a nationwide analysis. [Journal Article]Jpn J Clin Oncol. 2026 Jul 03. [Online ahead of print]JJ
- CONCLUSIONS: In Japan, ARSI use and related expenditures increased substantially between 2016 and 2023. Despite modest prescription volumes, ARSIs accounted for most anti-androgen-related costs.

- Neoadjuvant Chemohormonal Therapy for Patients With Very-high Risk Localized Prostate Cancer in Clinical Stages T2 and T3a. [Journal Article]In Vivo. 2026; 40(2):1098-1105.V
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that for patients with very-high risk prostate cancer limited to T2-T3a disease, NCHT does not improve biochemical recurrence outcomes, and tumor biology-particularly primary Gleason pattern 5-plays a more decisive role in prognosis than neoadjuvant systemic intensification. While cytotoxic therapy combined with androgen deprivation remains of investigational interest, its utility in organ-confined but biologically aggressive prostate cancer appears limited based on current evidence. Further large-scale, prospective studies are warranted to clarify the optimal patient selection for neoadjuvant approaches.

- MAP4 phosphorylation induced by ARID1A loss sensitizes colorectal cancer cells to EMP. [Journal Article]
- Mutational inactivation of the tumor suppressor gene ARID1A is a key driver of tumorigenesis in various types of cancer, making it a promising therapeutic target for anticancer drug development. Here, we performed a synthetic lethal drug screening in an approved drug library with ARID1A isogenic CRC cell lines and identified estramustine phosphate sodium (EMP), an FDA approved antimicrotubule che…

- Efficacy and safety of first-line treatments for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer based on phase II and III randomized controlled trials: A PROSTA-MAP systematic review and network meta-analysis. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: While raising concerns about safety profiles, our findings highlight that the PARPi doublet with ARSI probably has the greatest benefit in mCRPC patients with HRR gene alterations.

- Impact of Neoadjuvant Chemohormonal Therapy With GnRH Antagonist and Low-Dose Estramustine in Very High-Risk Prostate Cancer Undergoing Robotic Radical Prostatectomy. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In patients with very high-risk PC undergoing robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy, a GnRH antagonist and low-dose EMP yielded better BCR-free survival outcomes than NHT.

- Trends in novel antiandrogen receptor signal inhibitor use and medical costs in prostate cancer. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: ARSI usage and medical costs associated with prostate cancer increased significantly from 2016 to 2021. Despite the limited use of ARSIs, a considerable proportion of the medical costs for prostate cancer-specific agents had been spent on ARSIs.

- The relationship between Sjögren's syndrome and recurrent pregnancy loss: a bioinformatics analysis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This is one of the first studies to reveal that Sjögren's syndrome shares common biological pathways with RPL. KCNN3 was identified as the hub gene associated with Sjögren's syndrome and RPL, and may be a new target for mechanistic studies on Sjögren's syndrome and RPL.

- Synergistic combination effect of the PCA-1/ALKBH3 inhibitor HUHS015 on prostate cancer drugs in vitro and in vivo. [Journal Article]Anticancer Drugs. 2025 Jan 01; 36(1):19-27.AD
- Prostate cancer antigen-1/ALKBH3, a DNA/RNA demethylase of 3-methylcytosine, 1-methyladenine (1-meA), and 6-meA, was found in prostate cancer as an important prognostic factor. Additionally, 1-meA has been associated with other cancers. The ALKBH3 inhibitor HUHS015 was found to be effective against prostate cancer both in vitro and in vivo . Herein, we investigated the effect of HUHS015 in combin…

- Treatment of castration-resistant prostate cancer is and has been a challenge. In 1957, the chemist Imre Könyves came to Sweden as a refugee from Hungary and started to work at AB Leo, a pharmaceutical company in Helsingborg. In 1961, he started to synthesize compounds where the oestrogens were linked to a mustard group by a carbamate. This resulted in estramustine phosphate, which was initially …

- Microtubule depolymerization induces ferroptosis in neuroblastoma cells. [Journal Article]
- Estramustine (EM), a clinically successful hormone-refractory anti-prostate cancer drug, exhibited potent anti-proliferative activity, depolymerized microtubules, blocked cells at mitosis, and induced cell death in different cancer cells. Altered iron metabolism is a feature of cancer cells. Using EM, we examined the plausible relationship between microtubule depolymerization and induction of fer…

- Prognostic signature based on S100 calcium-binding protein family members for lung adenocarcinoma and its clinical significance. [Journal Article]Comput Methods Biomech Biomed Engin. 2026 Jan; 29(1):37-53.CM
- The S100 family proteins (S100s) participate in multiple stages of tumorigenesis and are considered to have potential value as biomarkers for detecting and predicting various cancers. But the role of S100s in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) prognosis is elusive. Transcriptional data of LUAD patients were retrieved from TCGA, and relevant literature was extensively reviewed to collect S100 genes. Diffe…

- Radiation Therapy for Locally Advanced Prostate Cancer: How Do We Treat Patients with cN1 Disease? [Review]
- Radiotherapy (RT) for high-risk localized prostate cancer (HRLPC) can be controversial in the context of increasing detection of suspicious lymph nodes via advanced imaging techniques. The EORTC 22683 trial initially established RT with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) as the standard of care for HRLPC, but many patients remain uncured. GETUG-AFU-12 showed that addition of docetaxel and estramu…
