- An Insight Into the Aerosolization Pattern of Formoterol Fumarate Dry Powder Inhalation Formulation Actuated Via Two Different Inhaler Devices. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings highlight the significant influence of device design on DPI performance, even when the formulation remains constant. The Aerolizer, a low-resistance inhaler, showed superior delivery efficiency than the Revolizer under standardized conditions. Future studies should include pressure-drop-adjusted or patient-simulated testing to better reflect clinical inhalation profiles and further explore how device mechanics influence drug delivery.

- Comparative In Vitro Deposition Analysis of Formoterol, Glycopyrronium, and Tiotropium Delivered via Capsule-Based DPI. [Journal Article]
- Dry powder inhalers (DPIs) are the mainstay in the treatment of obstructive pulmonary diseases. However, the performance of DPI formulations is highly dependent on the used inhaler device and the patient's inspiratory effort. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the aerosolization behavior of three commercially available capsule-based DPI medications-formoterol (Foradil[®]), glycopyrronium (S…

- The role of capsule aperture size on the dispersion of carrier-based formulation at different air flowrates. [Journal Article]
- The effect of capsule aperture size on the aerosol performance of lactose blend formulation was studied using Foradil® (containing 12 μg of formoterol fumarate (FF[1]) and 24 mg of lactose) dispersed with a powder inhaler Aerolizer® at increasing air flowrates. Apertures sizes of 0.4, 1.0, 1.5, 2.5, and 4.0 mm were introduced at the opposite ends of the capsule. The formulation was dispersed into…

- Bronchodilator efficacy of tiotropium/formoterol (18/12 µg once daily via a Discair inhaler), tiotropium alone (18 µg by Handihaler) or combined with formoterol (12 µg twice daily by Aerolizer) in adults with moderate-to-severe stable COPD. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- Objectives: The bronchodilator efficacy of a once-daily fixed-dose combination of tiotropium/formoterol (18/12 µg administered via a dry-powder inhaler, Discair) [TIO/FORMfixed group] vs a single-dose of tiotropium (18 µg) by Handihaler1 alone [TIOmono group], or combined with formoterol 12 µg twice-daily by Aerolizer2 [TIO/FORMbid group] was compared in patients with moderate-to-severe stable CO…

- Inspiromatic-safety and efficacy study of a new generation dry powder inhaler in asthmatic children. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: Formoterol inhalation via the Inspiromatic is safe and as efficacious as with the Aerolizer. The device is well accepted by asthmatic subjects.

- Cardiovascular safety profile of a fixed-dose combination of glycopyrrolate and formoterol fumarate delivered via metered dose inhaler using co-suspension delivery technology. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: No clinically significant effects on cardiovascular safety occurred at therapeutic or supratherapeutic doses of GFF MDI, apart from a small and transient increase in heart rate following supratherapeutic dose of GFF MDI 144/38.4 μg. Furthermore, there were no unexpected safety findings reported in either healthy volunteers or patients with COPD.

- Efficacy of Formoterol Fumarate Delivered by Metered Dose Inhaler Using Co-Suspension™ Delivery Technology Versus Foradil® Aerolizer® in Moderate-To-Severe COPD: A Randomized, Dose-Ranging Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates non-inferiority of bronchodilator response and bioequivalent exposure of FF MDI 9.6μg to Foradil® 12μg, with both agents exhibiting a similar safety profile in patients with moderate-to-severe COPD. This study supports the selection of FF MDI 9.6µg for further evaluation in Phase III trials.

- Effect of device design on the aerosolization of a carrier-based dry powder inhaler--a case study on Aerolizer(®) Foradile (®). [Journal Article]
- The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of device design of the Aerolizer(®) on the aerosolization of a carrier-based dry powder inhaler formulation (Foradile(®)). The Aerolizer was modified by reducing the air inlet size and mouthpiece length to 1/3 of the original dimensions, or by increasing the grid voidage. Aerosolization of the powder formulation was assessed on a multi-sta…
