- Why Albuterol is Outdated: More Effective Strategies for Managing Asthma Exacerbations. [Review]Immunol Allergy Clin North Am. 2026 Nov; 46(4):631-637.IA
- While short-acting beta-agonists have been a mainstay of therapy during acute asthma exacerbations and for patients with intermittent asthma, there is increasing evidence that the use of combination inhalers, containing both an inhaled corticosteroid and a fast-acting bronchodilator, lead to improvement in symptom control, reduction in severe asthma exacerbations, and increased adherence to medic…

- Early versus late escalation to extrafine BDP/FF/GB single-inhaler triple therapy in COPD: a real-world subgroup analysis by disease duration since diagnosis. [Journal Article]Respir Med. 2026 Oct 05; :109195. [Online ahead of print]RM
- CONCLUSIONS: Early escalation to SITT in COPD may result in more durable sustained clinical benefits compared with later intervention, reducing exacerbations and maintaining disease stability and control up to 12 months.

- Airway inflammation and asthma control in patients using salbutamol or budesonide/formoterol reliever: a randomised, controlled study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Patients with moderate asthma treated with BUD/FORM MART recorded less variation in asthma outcomes and lower rates of exacerbation events than those treated with BUD/FORM maintenance therapy plus SABA, suggesting improved asthma control.

- Recurrent multiterritorial ischemic stroke with persistent moderate hypereosinophilia: A case report with focused literature review. [Case Reports]J Int Med Res. 2026 Sep; 54(9):3000605261491519.JI
- Persistent hypereosinophilia may be overlooked during stroke evaluation when conventional vascular risks coexist. We report the case of a man in his late 50s who had hypertension, type 2 diabetes, continued active smoking, and eight clinically apparent magnetic resonance imaging-confirmed strokes in multiple bilateral territories over 29 months. Before systemic glucocorticoid exposure, absolute e…

- Evaluating Satisfaction and Quality of Life with Elpenhaler: A Pooled Analysis of Real-Life Studies. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Treatment delivered via the Elpenhaler is associated with high patient satisfaction and with significant and sustained improvements in quality of life, supporting its effectiveness in real-world respiratory care. The identification of factors associated with satisfaction and quality of life improvement may help in personalising treatment and optimising care.

- Comparative analysis of infarct-reducing properties of β1 -, β2 -, and β3 -adrenergicreceptor ligands in ischemia and reperfusion of the heart. [Journal Article]Pharmacology. 2026 Sep 15; :1. [Online ahead of print]P
- CONCLUSIONS: β 1 -AR blockade increases cardiac tolerance to I/R in vivo. β 2 -AR blockade and β 2 - AR stimulation do not affect cardiac resistance to I/R in vivo. β 3 -AR blockade does not affect cardiac resistance to I/R in vivo.

- Achieving clinical remission in moderate-to-severe asthma using inhaled triple therapy. [Journal Article]ERJ Open Res. 2026 Sep; 12(5).EO
- CONCLUSIONS: Among patients with asthma that was uncontrolled by an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS)/long-acting β2-agonist (LABA) combination prior to study entry, a higher proportion achieved clinical remission by switching to inhaled triple therapy than by continuing ICS/LABA.

- Formoterol attenuates lipopolysaccharide-induced mnemonic impairment in the delayed nonmatch to position task in rats. [Journal Article]Behav Pharmacol. 2026 Sep 02. [Online ahead of print]BP
- The delayed nonmatch to position (DNMTP) task is an instrumental learning paradigm applied to assess higher executive functions including attention and working memory in rats. In this study, the effect of systemic challenge with the acute inflammatory stimulus [lipopolysaccharide (LPS) 0.25 mg/kg, intraperitoneally] was assessed in Wistar rats on performance in the DNMTP task. By means of validat…

- Trends in the Use and Costs of Medications for Respiratory Management Included in the 2022 Benefit Plan of the Colombia Health System. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: After the 2022 Benefit Plan update for respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, increases in the dispensing and direct pharmaceutical costs of the newly included therapies were observed. These temporal changes suggest modifications in prescribing and dispensing patterns, potentially reflecting greater access to recommended first-line therapies, although causal attributions to the Benefit Plan update cannot be established, given the descriptive nature of this study.

- Inhaled corticosteroids with short-acting β2-agonists as rescue therapy for asthma: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. [Review]J Asthma. 2026 Sep 08; :1-9. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: ICS-SABA reliever therapy provides consistent reductions in asthma exacerbations and systemic corticosteroid use without compromising safety, supporting its role as a pragmatic alternative to ICS-formoterol rescue therapy. Future research should include head-to-head comparisons with ICS-formoterol, pediatric-focused trials, and long-term real-world studies to optimize asthma care.
