- Inhibitor-Regulated Cas12a Activation Enables Highly Sensitive and One-Pot Detection of Drug-Resistant Genes in River Water. [Journal Article]Anal Chem. 2026 Aug 25; 98(33):24024-24034.AC
- Monitoring environmental drug-resistance genes (DRGs) plays a pivotal role in preventing the transmission of antimicrobial resistance, thereby reducing public health risks. In this study, a one-pot recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA)/clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR) assay was developed for monitoring DRGs in river water. To overcome compatibility challenges…

- Direct oral anticoagulants in cancer-associated venous thromboembolism: trial robustness and clinical trade-offs. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: DOACs are viable alternatives to low-molecular-weight heparin for cancer-associated thrombosis, but their comparative efficacy is statistically fragile and offset by bleeding risk. Considering these findings, treatment decisions require an individualized approach, weighing comorbidities and bleeding risk.

- In vitro comparison of the effects of abelacimab, dalteparin, and apixaban on catheter-induced clotting and thrombin generation. [Journal Article]Res Pract Thromb Haemost. 2026 Jul; 10(5):106832.RP
- CONCLUSIONS: Abelacimab and dalteparin suppress catheter-induced clotting more effectively than apixaban. Clinical trials are needed to determine whether abelacimab prevents catheter-induced clotting in patients with cancer.

- Apixaban Versus Low-Molecular-Weight Heparin for Cancer-Associated Venous Thromboembolism: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. [Review]J Clin Med. 2026 Jul 08; 15(14).JC
- Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE), particularly in the context of cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT), is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with malignancy. While apixaban has emerged as a potential alternative to low-molecular-weight heparins (LMWHs), uncertainty remains regarding the consistency of its safety profile across different LMWH agents. Methods: This systemati…

- Pharmacological thromboprophylaxis in hospitalized patients with acute infectious diseases: a meta-analysis. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: This analysis quantifies the effect of thromboprophylaxis in patients with acute infectious diseases. Although available results show that thromboprophylaxis is associated with fewer VTE events, limited data, sparse safety and mortality reporting, and heterogeneity among studies preclude reliable risk-benefit evaluation. Further prospective research is warranted.

- During pregnancy, anticoagulant effect of low molecular weight heparin can be determined with both thrombelastography and anti-factor Xa activity, or not? [Journal Article]
- Venous thromboembolism is a common cause of maternal mortality. Many women need regional anaesthesia during vaginal delivery or caesarean section. However, the risk of epidural or spinal haematoma is increased if regional anaesthesia is administered during ongoing thromboprophylaxis with low molecular weight heparin (LMWH). The aims of this pilot study are to evaluate the anticoagulant effect of …

- Livedoid Vasculopathy in a Female Patient With a History of COVID-19 Infection During Pregnancy: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Acta Dermatovenerol Croat. 2025 Sep; 33(3):129-132.AD
- Livedoid vasculopathy is a rare, chronic thrombo-occlusive disease characterized by recurrent livedoid skin changes, atrophic white plaques, and ulceration. It most commonly affects the dermal vessels of the distal lower extremities, ankles, and feet, bilaterally. While it is commonly associated with hypercoagulable states, systemic autoimmune diseases, and malignancies, we report a case of a pre…
- Heparin to prevent recurrent placenta-mediated pregnancy complications in women with antiphospholipid syndrome: a systematic review. [Systematic Review]Res Pract Thromb Haemost. 2026 May; 10(4):106634.RP
- CONCLUSIONS: There is no high-quality evidence from RCTs that demonstrates a beneficial effect of LMWH in women with APS and placenta-mediated pregnancy complications without a history of recurrent miscarriage.

- Heparin-like compounds improve the biophysical properties of eosinophilic mucus. [Journal Article]Allergol Int. 2026 Jun 05. [Online ahead of print]AI
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that heparin-like compounds interact with EET-associated histones and alter the mucus polymer network, thereby improving the biophysical properties of pathological mucus by reducing its viscosity and enhancing its hydrophilicity.

- Cerebral venous thrombosis in pregnancy. [Case Reports]BMJ Case Rep. 2026 Mar 25; 19(3).BC
- Headaches in pregnancy are a common occurrence, and most differentials are benign but cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is a life-threatening secondary headache that is more common in pregnancy and postpartum. CVT is caused by an occlusion of the dural venous sinus and/or cerebral veins and presents with various non-specific presentations and has numerous causes and risk factors which make clinica…

- Impact of dalteparin sodium and luteal phase support on serum markers, interleukins, and pregnancy outcomes in patients with in vitro fertilisation failure. [Journal Article]J Med Biochem. 2026 Jan 28; 45(1):190-199.JM
- CONCLUSIONS: The combination of LPS and DS appears to be a safe and effective strategy for improving pregnancy outcomes and QOL in patients with repeated IVF failure. This combined treatment may exert its beneficial effects by modulating key serum markers and interleukins, such as CA-125 and IL-6, involved in implantation and pregnancy maintenance.

- A Service Evaluation of Anti-Xa Measurements in Patients with Kidney Impairment in a Tertiary Centre. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this report, trough anti-Xa measurement of dalteparin is independently associated with bleeding in patients with CKD. Further prospective, larger studies are warranted to validate these results before it can be universally recommended in clinical practice. </p>.

- Double pylorus in an elderly female patient: a case report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Double pylorus is a rare but clinically relevant condition that may first be detected when complications such as gastrointestinal bleeding occur. Reported associations with H. pylori infection and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug exposure represent observational trends rather than established causal relationships, as the evidence remains heterogeneous and limited. The condition likely develops in the setting of multifactorial impairment of gastroduodenal mucosal integrity, particularly in older or medically vulnerable individuals.

- Impact of postoperative weight loss on anticoagulant dosing after major lower limb amputation. [Journal Article]Ann R Coll Surg Engl. 2026 May; 108(5):366-370.AR
- CONCLUSIONS: Major amputation is associated with clinically relevant postoperative weight loss, yet anticoagulant dose adjustments were uncommon. Routine postoperative weight monitoring and prompt review of weight-based therapy are recommended to improve dosing accuracy and reduce potential anticoagulation risk.

- Spontaneous inferior epigastric artery hemorrhage in a COVID-19 patient with membranous nephropathy on anticoagulant therapy: a Case Report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the critical balance between thromboprophylaxis and bleeding risk in COVID-19 patients with MN. It underscores the need for individualized anticoagulation strategies, pharmacodynamic monitoring, and multidisciplinary decision-making to mitigate risks in this high-risk population. The interplay of COVID-19-induced coagulopathy, renal impairment, and immunosuppressive therapy amplifies both thrombotic and hemorrhagic tendencies, necessitating extreme vigilance in clinical management.
