- Autoimmune pulmonary alveolar proteinosis may not be invariably lifelong: exponential decay of anti-granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor autoantibodies over more than a decade. [Letter]
- aPAP may not be lifelong: in three long-term cases, anti-GM-CSF autoantibodies peaked early then declined with exponential kinetics, disappearing after 7-16 years, suggesting eventual immune quiescence via attrition of long-lived plasma cells https://bit.ly/4n2m9No.

- Failed resolution as a mechanistic basis of difficult-to-treat rheumatoid arthritis: stromal-myeloid crosstalk in the synovium and emerging resolution-restoring therapies. [Review]
- Modern disease-modifying therapy has transformed rheumatoid arthritis. Even so, many patients cycle through biological and targeted synthetic drugs of distinct mechanisms without achieving sustained remission. This is the difficult-to-treat phenotype defined by the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology. We argue that in a large fraction, refractory disease is not simply inflammation …

- Inhaled granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (molgramostim) as host-directed therapy for pneumonia-related acute respiratory distress syndrome: a multicentre, randomised, placebo-controlled phase 2a trial (GI-HOPE). [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Inhalation of 450 μg rhGM-CSF was safe, and promoted a favourable profile regarding alveolar macrophage activation, oxygenation and SOFA scores over time; however, it did not lead to differences in the GI-HOPE score.

- Genetic architecture of cytokine autoantibodies and associated risk of common diseases. [Journal Article]
- Anti-cytokine autoantibodies are increasingly recognized as modulators of immune function and determinants of disease risk, yet their genetic basis and population-level impact remain unclear. Here we perform genome-wide association studies of autoantibodies against IL-1α, IL-6, IL-10, IFN-α, IFN-β, IFN-γ and GM-CSF in 15,000 individuals from the Danish Blood Donor Study. We identify 52 genome-wid…

- Vaccines for Cancer: A Translational Science Review. [Journal Article]JAMA. 2026 Sep 21. [Online ahead of print]JAMA
- CONCLUSIONS: Cancer vaccines can treat several types of malignant neoplasms, including melanoma, prostate cancer, and bladder cancer. Adverse effects associated with cancer vaccines are generally mild and of short duration, promoting eventual integration of vaccination into treatment regimens with chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Cancer vaccines are increasingly undergoing evaluation for primary prevention.

- Prevalence of clinically-relevant cerebrospinal fluid abnormalities in first-episode psychosis: a systematic review and meta-analysis. [Journal Article]Brain Behav Immun. 2026 Sep 20; :107024. [Online ahead of print]BB
- CONCLUSIONS: The most common clinically-relevant CSF abnormality, CSF-restricted oligoclonal bands, had a pooled prevalence of 7.1%, similar to the reported prevalence of a clinically-relevant abnormality on brain MRI. The probability of detecting an abnormality was higher among patients with a high index of suspicion for a secondary cause, and this was most marked for anti-NMDAR antibodies. However, few included studies reported healthy controls, and none explicitly tested whether presence of these abnormalities alter treatment response or outcomes, so the specificity and treatment implications of these findings for psychosis will benefit from future research.

- Comparative evidence on the independent contribution of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor to anti-GD2 immunotherapy in neuroblastoma: a systematic review and gap analysis. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Available comparative evidence is insufficient to determine the independent contribution of GM-CSF to the efficacy or safety of anti-GD2 immunotherapy in neuroblastoma. These findings should not be used to justify modification of licensed product-specific anti-GD2 regimens. A randomized trial holding the anti-GD2 backbone and relevant co-interventions constant is needed to isolate the effect of GM-CSF.

- Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid cytokine-based clustering identifies prognostically relevant cytokine phenotypes across interstitial lung diseases. [Journal Article]Respir Investig. 2026 Sep 18; 64(6):101511. [Online ahead of print]RI
- CONCLUSIONS: BALF cytokine profiling can identify cytokine intensity-defined ILD subgroups that are associated with prognosis and are not fully captured by conventional disease classification. Although RA-ILD shares cytokine features with IPF and iNSIP, it also exhibits distinct immune characteristics. These findings suggest that intrapulmonary cytokine profiling could facilitate ILD stratification.

- ILC3s as central regulators of mucosal homeostasis and disease pathogenesis (Review). [Review]Int J Mol Med. 2026 Nov; 58(5).IJ
- Type 3 innate lymphoid cells (ILC3s) constitute key components of mucosal innate immunity and serve key roles in maintaining mucosal barrier homeostasis and regulating inflammatory responses. The present review summarizes the biological characteristics and regulatory mechanisms of ILC3s, while discussing their interactions with the gut microbiota and pathological functions in mucosa‑associated di…

- High-Resolution IVIM MRI Characterizes Diffusion-Perfusion Properties of the Parasagittal Dura. [Journal Article]
- The objectives of this study were to characterize the diffusion-perfusion properties of the parasagittal dura (PSD) using high-resolution intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) MRI and to explore whether PSD-specific IVIM metrics reflect distinct fluid-transport-related signal behavior compared with CSF and brain parenchyma. Ten healthy volunteers underwent 3 T MRI, including high-resolution 3D T2-F…

- Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis: Rethinking Surfactant Homeostasis Through Alveolar Macrophage Lipid-Handling Dysfunction. [Review]Arterioscler Thromb Vasc Biol. 2026 Sep 17. [Online ahead of print]AT
- Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis is a rare lung disease characterized by the accumulation of surfactant lipids and proteins within the alveolar space, leading to impaired gas exchange and progressive respiratory dysfunction. In most cases, pulmonary alveolar proteinosis arises from disruption of GM-CSF (granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor) signaling, resulting in defective alveolar mac…

- CONCLUSIONS: CCL22-mediated T cell recruitment may contribute to the mucosal breach of tolerance in smokers. In joints, CCL22 could promote inflammation and recruit activated and regulatory T cells to LAMP3+ DCs, a subset characterised by robust T cell modulatory potential.

- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that thioperamide helps reestablish immune balance in SOD1[G93A] mice by influencing both inflammatory and regulatory T cell pathways.
