- Cannabidiol/cannabigerol exposure and neuropathy-related outcomes after neurotoxic chemotherapy: a real-world cohort study. [Journal Article]Front Pain Res (Lausanne). 2026; 7:1945720.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: Post-chemotherapy CBD/CBG exposure was associated with lower observed hazard of neuropathy-related diagnosis-code outcomes, whereas pre-chemotherapy exposure was not significant. These exploratory findings require cautious interpretation because of sparse exposed-arm events, EHR exposure limitations, and potential competing-risk bias.

- Pharmacologic Treatments for Female Menopausal Vasomotor Symptoms: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis for the American College of Physicians. [Review]Ann Intern Med. 2026 Oct 06. [Online ahead of print]AIM
- CONCLUSIONS: Estrogens reduced VMS frequency and severity and improved QoL (with or without progestogens and with BZA). NKRAs, SNRIs, and SSRIs improved VMS frequency, QoL, and sleep. Estrogens with and without progestogens were of high economic value. Harms data were limited. Little comparative information exists.

- When the Electromyography (EMG) and the Patient Disagree: Unraveling a Motor Neuron Disease Mimic With Small-Fiber Dysfunction. [Case Reports]
- Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by upper and lower motor neuron dysfunction. Electromyography (EMG) is central to its evaluation, but neurogenic abnormalities and fasciculations are not specific to ALS and must be interpreted within the clinical phenotype and disease trajectory. This study reports a 52-year-old man with an approximatel…

- Gender Differences in Health Risk Factors for Co-Use of Gabapentin and Opioids among Black Americans. [Journal Article]
- Despite recent increases in gabapentin misuse among Black Americans who use opioids, there is a dearth of research examining gabapentin misuse among this high-risk group. The current study examines associations between health-related risk factors (e.g., pain and insomnia) and gabapentin misuse among Black adults who use opioids, as well as gender differences in these associations. Data were deriv…

- Pharmacological targeting of bunyavirus-induced synaptic impairment prevents neuronal hyperexcitability. [Journal Article]
- Orthobunyaviruses are linked to a broad spectrum of neurological disorders. However, the molecular determinants governing bunyavirus neuropathogenesis remain poorly understood, precluding the identification of drugs able to alleviate virus-induced neuronal dysfunctions. Here, we show that the prevalent, yet neglected, orthobunyavirus Ťahyňa virus (TAHV) disrupts neuronal integrity and proteostasi…

- Vulvodynia in Pediatric and Adolescent Populations: A Case Series on Presentation and Management. [Journal Article]J Pediatr Adolesc Gynecol. 2026 Sep 30. [Online ahead of print]JP
- CONCLUSIONS: Vulvodynia remains an underrecognized condition in PAG, with many patients experiencing delayed diagnosis and misdiagnosis. TG appeared well tolerated and was associated with favorable clinical outcomes, supporting further research comparing its use to other treatment modalities in PAG populations.

- When a Psychiatric Diagnosis Is Actually Perimenopause. [Journal Article]Am J Nurs. 2026 Sep 30. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- Perimenopause, the hormonal transition preceding menopause, typically begins in the late 30s to mid-40s and lasts an average of seven years. Its neurobiological effects, including disruptions to serotonin synthesis, dopamine signaling, γ-aminobutyric acid receptor activity, and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis reactivity, produce a symptom profile nearly identical to primary psychiatric disord…

- Patient-Reported Outcomes of Mirogabalin in Patients with Postoperative Spinal Cord-Related Central Neuropathic Pain Inadequately Controlled with Conventional Gabapentinoids: A Retrospective Real-World Study. [Journal Article]J Korean Neurosurg Soc. 2026 Sep 30. [Online ahead of print]JK
- CONCLUSIONS: Although the findings may overestimate treatment effectiveness because of the retrospective design and reliance on subjective patient assessment, switching to mirogabalin provided additional clinically meaningful pain relief in approximately half of the patients with persistent postoperative spinal cord-related central neuropathic pain that was inadequately controlled with conventional gabapentinoids. These findings suggest that mirogabalin may represent a promising alternative treatment option for patients with residual spinal cord-related central neuropathic pain who have limited therapeutic options.

- Targeting neurovascular dysfunction in diabetic neuropathic pain: a review of mechanism-based pharmacotherapy beyond gabapentinoids. [Review]Daru. 2026 Sep 29; 34(2).DARU
- CONCLUSIONS: Finally, modern management of DNP is shifting to a mechanism-based approach. A change from a generic, empirical drug prescription to a more precise, individual-based approach to drug prescription (phenotypic pain profile) has great potential to improve therapeutic outcomes, especially for refractory diabetic neuropathy.

- The patient was a woman in her 20s. In June of a certain year, she experienced cardiopulmonary arrest due to acute epiglottitis and was admitted to the ICU and required mechanical ventilation. From the first day of hospitalization, she exhibited generalized seizures and was diagnosed with acute symptomatic seizures following hypoxic brain injury. Treatment with diazepam and levetiracetam was init…
