  • Recovering LSPR coloration in dried metal-nitride nanoparticle powders by sol-gel silica embedding. [Journal Article]

  • Plasmonic transition-metal nitrides such as TiN and HfN display localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR)-driven color in dilute dispersion, but their dried powders are nearly black. Here we show that embedding TiN or HfN nanoparticles in amorphous SiO2 by a one-pot sol-gel process recovers a visible LSPR-derived coloration of HfN in the dry state, despite a heterogeneous product in which single…
  • Acid origin modulates the protective effect of an experimental anti-erosive gel against enamel erosion. [Journal Article]
J Dent. 2026 Oct 14; 176:107105. [Online ahead of print]Cardoso TBDSS, Estenico MR, … Ávila DMDSJD
  • CONCLUSIONS: Experimental fluoride-containing gels, with or without stannous ions, reduced enamel mineral release compared with the Carbopol 980 placebo under the citric acid challenge. However, this protective effect was not observed under hydrochloric acid, indicating that the effect of the formulations on mineral release depended on the erosive acid used. The findings highlight the importance of considering the type of erosive acid used when evaluating and comparing anti-erosive formulations.
  • Silver Vanadate: From Synthesis to Diverse Applications and Perspectives. [Review]
    Chem Rec. 2026 Sep 25; :e70257. [Online ahead of print]Gu C, Fang D, … Zhang DCR
  • Silver vanadate is an important class of multifunctional inorganic materials with broad application prospects in photocatalysis, sensing, batteries, and antibacterial fields, owing to its unique crystal structure and excellent optical, electrical, and catalytic properties. This paper systematically reviews the main synthesis methods of silver vanadate, including hydrothermal, ion exchange, and so…
  • Stannous Fluoride Toothpaste: Improving gingival health without a new habit adoption. [Review]
J Dent Hyg. 2026 Aug 03; 100(4):68-74.Jordan BA, Saltz AEJD
  • Purpose Dental hygienists are uniquely positioned to improve oral and overall health outcomes with evidence-based treatment plans. One recommendation that has yet to see its full potential is the use of stannous fluoride (SnF2) toothpaste. Stannous fluoride is more than just an anticaries agent. Its formulation within a toothpaste offers superior performance in reducing plaque, gingivitis, sensit…
