- Giant Cervicothoracic Ganglioneuroma Misdiagnosed as Neurofibroma on Core Needle Biopsy: Transcervical Resection and Postoperative Neurological Sequelae: A Case Report. [Journal Article]
- Ganglioneuroma (GN) may be misdiagnosed as neurofibroma when core needle biopsy samples only contain Schwannian stroma without mature ganglion cells. Even giant cervicothoracic GNs may be resectable through a transcervical approach alone. Recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy and Horner syndrome are foreseeable, anatomically predictable risks requiring dedicated preoperative counseling.

- Riedel thyroiditis mimicking malignancy: a fatal surgical outcome. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: RT can mimic malignancy and, when radical surgery is undertaken for diagnostic uncertainty, may prove fatal. Adequate tissue sampling with IgG4 immunostaining is essential before contemplating radical surgery.

- Clavipectoral fascia block associated with intermediate cervical plexus block versus intermediate cervical plexus block alone in clavicle surgeries: a randomized clinical trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this randomized clinical trial, the addition of a clavipectoral fascia plane block to an intermediate cervical plexus block was not associated with a statistically significant reduction in immediate postoperative morphine consumption or PACU length of stay. However, given the unexpectedly low opioid consumption and the resulting floor effect, modest differences between interventions cannot be excluded. Larger adequately powered studies are required to better define the role of combined regional anesthesia techniques in clavicle surgery.

- Long Term Results of Surgical Treatment of Chronic Venous Thoracic Outlet Syndrome: A Single Centre Experience. [Journal Article]Eur J Vasc Endovasc Surg. 2026 Oct 16. [Online ahead of print]EJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Chronic VTOS can be effectively treated with good long term functional outcomes. Re-PTAs were necessary in half of the cases (anticipated). This treatment algorithm diminished the need of secondary interventions in 50% of the cases, as well as the need for long term anticoagulation usage.

- Comparison of Shoulder Field Anesthesia (SFA) with Interscalene Block (ISB) for Analgesia After Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery: A Randomized Noninferiority Trial. [Journal Article]J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2026 Oct 16. [Online ahead of print]JB
- CONCLUSIONS: SFA was noninferior to ISB for the prespecified cumulative 48-hour pain end point. ISB provided superior pain relief during the first 4 to 8 hours, but SFA offered a lung-sparing alternative with similar cumulative opioid requirements and patient satisfaction, fewer clinically apparent block-related complications, and a shorter hospital stay. These findings support a risk-benefit framework to guide individualized analgesic selection.

- Robotic nerve-sparing enucleation of thoracic sympathetic trunk schwannoma with narrow-band imaging: technical considerations. [Journal Article]
- Schwannomas arising from the thoracic sympathetic trunk can cause Horner's syndrome, and surgical resection carries a risk of further nerve injury. We describe a technique for robotic nerve-sparing enucleation of a thoracic sympathetic trunk schwannoma presenting with Horner's syndrome. After exposure of the epineurium and perineurium, careful dissection of these neural sheath structures revealed…

- Moderate-risk variants in hereditary breast and ovarian cancer: seven-year experience from a specialized center. [Journal Article]
- Moderate-risk gene variants represent an increasingly recognized component of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC) predisposition, yet their clinical interpretation and management remain less standardized than those of high-penetrance genes. This study provides a seven-year real-world evaluation of genetic variants in ATM, BARD1, CHEK2, RAD51C, and RAD51D in individuals undergoing germline…

- Robotic selective thoracic sympathectomy for hyperhidrosis: refined technique and anatomical variation. [Case Reports]Multimed Man Cardiothorac Surg. 2026 Oct 14; 2026.MM
- Primary hyperhidrosis substantially impairs quality of life. Conventional sympathectomy risks compensatory hyperhidrosis through trunk disruption, whilst selective sympathectomy preserves the trunk while dividing preganglionic and postganglionic fibres. We describe a technique refinement and a previously undescribed anatomical variant. A 23-year-old man had severe refractory palmar, axillary, pla…

- Low-Volume Superior Trunk and Superficial Cervical Plexus Block With Sedation as the Sole Regional Anesthetic for Proximal Humerus Fracture Fixation in a Patient With Alzheimer Disease. [Case Reports]
- BACKGROUND Proximal humerus open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) is usually performed under interscalene brachial plexus block (ISB) or general anesthesia (GA). ISB causes ipsilateral phrenic nerve paresis in nearly all patients, and GA may raise the risk of postoperative neurocognitive disorders in elderly patients with cognitive impairment. We report the feasibility of a low-volume regio…

- Hemi-see-saw nystagmus with superimposed pendular oculopalatal tremor: case report and systematic review. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: HSSN is an uncommon nystagmus, most often vascular in origin and frequently involving the pontine tegmentum. While it usually presents with a jerk waveform, association with OPT may produce a pendular phenotype, suggesting a distinct brainstem-cerebellar mechanism. Larger anatomically and oculographically characterized series are needed to clarify structure-function correlations and prognosis.

- Iatrogenic Horner syndrome following internal jugular vein catheterization in an infant: a case report and literature review. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights that iatrogenic HS can occur after open surgical IJV catheterization in infants. Awareness of this rare complication, careful surgical technique, and prompt recognition are essential to ensure optimal outcomes.

- Transient Horner Syndrome Following Interscalene Nerve Block for Rotator Cuff Repair: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- Horner syndrome is a well-recognized constellation of symptoms resulting from the disruption of the sympathetic pathway. It may occur in a variety of clinical contexts, including trauma, tumors, or iatrogenic causes. We report a rare case of transient Horner syndrome following rotator cuff repair with interscalene nerve block. Imaging ruled out structural or vascular causes. The syndrome resolved…

- Extended Foville Syndrome Due to a Pontine Tegmental Hemorrhage: A Clinicoradiologic Case Report. [Case Reports]
- Foville syndrome is a rare pontine tegmental syndrome classically characterized by ipsilateral abducens and peripheral facial nerve palsies with contralateral hemiparesis. Extended variants involving additional ocular motor, sensory, and autonomic pathways are uncommon, particularly when caused by hemorrhagic stroke. We report a 59-year-old Filipino male with uncontrolled hypertension who present…

- Contrast-enhanced ultrasound combined with diagnostic nerve block for differentiating cervical sympathetic ganglion from metastatic lymph node: a case report. [Journal Article]
- Differentiating cervical sympathetic ganglion (CSG) from metastatic lymph nodes in the central neck compartment remains a diagnostic challenge, particularly in patients with thyroid carcinoma. Conventional imaging modalities, including contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) and ultrasound, may yield indeterminate findings due to overlapping morphological characteristics. We present a case wit…

- CONCLUSIONS: LSG-PRF is a minimally invasive neuromodulatory strategy associated with suppression of sympathetic hyperactivity and post-MI VAs, accompanied by attenuated ganglionic inflammation and modulated cardiac neuro-immune signaling. Preliminary clinical experience supports feasibility and warrants prospective trials.
