- Effectiveness of different methods of feticide: systematic review and meta-analysis. [Review]Ultrasound Obstet Gynecol. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]UO
- CONCLUSIONS: Feticide is an important procedure to induce asystole prior to TOP. Point estimates from the meta-analysis indicate that the most effective feticidal method is intracardiac KCl. Effectiveness should be considered alongside safety and feasibility when deciding on appropriate methods for different settings. © 2026 The Author(s). - A Retrospective Descriptive Analysis of Consultations Provided by the National Poisons Centre Relating to Medicines on the Aotearoa New Zealand Antidote Stocking Guideline, 2020-2025. [Journal Article]Emerg Med Australas. 2026 Oct; 38(5):e70366.EM
- CONCLUSIONS: There was use of the NZNPC consultation service across all regions, and the recommendations provided for each antidote ranged from mostly in favour of use to mostly against use based on the patient presentation. Utilizing a specialist medical/clinical toxicologist consultation service may assist in rationalizing care and optimizing use of healthcare resources.

- Motility-mediated drug interactions with GLP-1 receptor agonists: labeled evidence and a framework for quantitative assessment. [Journal Article]
- Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) are widely prescribed, and two additional oral products received US approval in 2025 and 2026. All eleven US labels examined describe delayed gastric emptying as potentially affecting the absorption of co-administered oral medications. Since the exenatide program, no study has evaluated a narrow therapeutic index victim across more than one ad…

- Safety Profile Evaluation of Narrow Therapeutic Index Drugs in Tertiary Care Teaching Hospital. [Journal Article]Drug Metab Bioanal. 2026; 19(2):191-201.DM
- CONCLUSIONS: In our study, the most common DRPs observed were related to the drug use process. Heparin and digoxin were found to be high-risk drugs, according to study results. Hence, special observation and monitoring from physicians and other health professionals are needed for the prescriptions with NTI drugs.

- When microbial drug metabolism becomes a drug disposition variable. [Review]Drug Metab Dispos. 2026 Sep 11; 54(10):100407. [Online ahead of print]DM
- Microbial transformation of drugs is experimentally established, but no agreed method determines when a detected pathway materially contributes to drug disposition. This minireview proposes a 5-gate framework for evaluating microbial metabolism as a source of drug-disposition variability. Evaluation begins by asking whether drug-related material reaches a microbial compartment, whether a defined …

- Digoxin Alleviates Osteoarthritis by Inhibiting Macrophage Extracellular Trap Formation via Disruption of the LSP1-SOD1 Interaction. [Journal Article]
- Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic degenerative joint disease and a leading cause of disability worldwide, yet no disease-modifying therapies are currently available. The role of synovial macrophages in OA pathogenesis remains incompletely understood, and the molecular mechanisms by which they drive cartilage destruction have not been fully elucidated. By integrating human OA microarrays, synovial …

- This study characterized the pharmacokinetic interaction between Compound Danshen Tablets (CDT) and atorvastatin (ATV) and investigated absorption- and transporter-related mechanisms underlying this interaction. ATV pharmacokinetics were evaluated after oral and intravenous administration in normal and hyperlipidemic/diabetic rats, with or without repeated CDT treatment. Mechanistic studies inclu…

- A novel method of in-situ functionalized magnetic dispersive solid phase microextraction was established and coupled with high performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detection to determine four cardiac glycosides in human plasma. The adsorbent was prepared by in-situ functionalization of Fe3O4/SBA-15 with surfactant during the extraction process. The synthesized material was characterized …

- UBE2C (Ubiquitin-Conjugating Enzyme E2C) is an E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme involved in the ubiquitin-proteasome system which plays a crucial role in protein degradation and regulation of cell cycle. Overexpression of UBE2C can lead to mitotic defects, genomic instability and uncontrolled cell division, contributing to tumorigenesis. Overexpression of UBE2C in multiple cancers and its associat…

- An Insectified Caco-2 Cell-Based Assay to Monitor Pesticide Transport Processes and Pharmacokinetics. [Journal Article]
- In vitro intestinal models such as Caco-2 cells are integral to pharmacokinetic research. However, insect intestinal cells have proven less tractable for pharmacokinetic studies limiting our knowledge of pesticide pharmacokinetics in these species. To overcome this, we have developed a Caco-2 cell line that has been genetically modified to express insect P-glycoprotein (Pgp), providing a robust '…

- Na[+]/K[+]-ATPase Blockade Reversibly Attenuates Proliferation and Metabolic Function in K562 Human Myelogenous Leukemia Cells. [Journal Article]
- The Na[+]/K[+]-ATPase consumes a substantial portion of cellular ATP to maintain essential electrochemical gradients, yet its role in regulating cancer cell proliferation and phenotypic plasticity remains complicated by its dual function as an ion transporter and a scaffolding receptor. Here, we investigate the physiological consequences of pharmacological NKA blockade using digoxin in K562 human…
