- Changes in Corneal Epithelial Barrier Function and Zonula Occludens-1 Distribution with Concomitant Use of Silver Nitrate and Latanoprost in Rabbits. [Journal Article]J Ocul Pharmacol Ther. 2026 Nov; 42(9):579-586.JO
- CONCLUSIONS: A high concentration of AgNO3 with LP exacerbated corneal epithelial barrier impairment, which highlights the importance of preservative concentration control in ophthalmic formulations.

- Efficacy and safety of sepetaprost in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension: results from the randomised, phase 3 ANGEL-J1 study. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: In patients with POAG or OHT, sepetaprost demonstrated IOP-lowering efficacy that was non-inferior to latanoprost, and an acceptable safety profile.

- Latanoprost/timolol fixed-dose combination: two decades of efficacy and safety in glaucoma management. [Systematic Review]
- Topical prostaglandin analogs (PGAs) are recommended as first-line therapy for the treatment of glaucoma. However, many patients do not achieve adequate IOP control with monotherapy and require additional agents. Combination therapy involving the use of two individual eye drops makes the medication instillation regimen complex, often leading to reduced adherence to treatment. Lack of adherence le…

- Different intraocular pressure-lowering effects of latanoprostene bunod across glaucoma subtypes: a 12-month real-world clinical study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: LBN demonstrated differential IOP-lowering effects across glaucoma subtypes, with a notably enhanced effect on PXFG. This superior efficacy in PXFG, likely due to LBN's dual mechanism overcoming pseudoexfoliative outflow resistance, suggests that switching from latanoprost may help delay the need for surgical intervention in this challenging patient population.

- Efficacy of latanoprost in the treatment of ciliary madarosis. [Case Reports]
- Ciliary madarosis, characterized by the partial or complete loss of eyelashes, has limited treatment options, especially in pediatric cases. Prostaglandin analogues, primarily used in glaucoma treatment, have shown potential as a novel approach for promoting eyelash regrowth due to their hypertrichotic effects. We report the case of a 5-year-old boy presenting with isolated eyelash loss on the ri…

- Real-world efficacy, safety, and usability of a microvolume eyedrop delivery device in glaucoma: prospective randomized crossover trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: MD delivered with the Nanodropper adaptor provided additional IOP-L, significantly reduced PBE, and decreased the occurrence and severity of nonsystemic AEs compared with CD in this cohort of stable primary open-angle glaucoma/ocular hypertension participants. MD use among glaucoma participants may enhance tolerability, and improve adherence and long-term IOP control.

- Clinical Benefits of Preservative-Free Treatment for Glaucoma with a Focus on Preservative-Free Latanoprost. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: This review highlights the benefits of preservative-free topical glaucoma therapies and includes a targeted review of preservative-free latanoprost 0.005%. Recent technologic advancements including multidose preservative-free delivery systems and sustained-release drug delivery approaches are also discussed.

- The Investigation of Latanoprost's Effects on the Intraocular Pressure of Healthy Male guinea Pigs Under Light and Dark Regimes. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The reduction in IOP caused by 0.005% latanoprost was more pronounced in guinea pigs kept in darkness compared to the animal exposed to light, suggesting that the diurnal and nocturnal patterns of IOP fluctuations are clinically significant in ocular hypertension therapy and, thus, should be considered when applying ophthalmic hypotensive agents. The study of IOP in guinea pigs provides valuable insights into circadian variations in IOP, which could help optimize treatment protocols by tailoring latanoprost administration to align with peak efficacy periods, potentially improving glaucoma management and therapeutic outcomes.

- A Study of 24-h Efficacy and Safety of Sepetaprost vs. Latanoprost in Patients with Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma or Ocular Hypertension. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: In participants with POAG or OHT, mean 24-h IOP and nocturnal IOP at month 3 were consistently numerically lower with sepetaprost vs. latanoprost. Safety profiles were similar between groups.

- Drug- and Cell-Type-Specific Effects of ROCK Inhibitors as a Potential Cause of Reticular Corneal Epithelial Edema. [Journal Article]
- Rho-associated kinase (ROCK) inhibitors have gained popularity as novel treatment options in the management of glaucoma and corneal endothelial disorders. Among the various ocular side effects, reticular corneal epithelial edema has been most frequently reported, mainly after treatment with netarsudil. To explain the potential mechanisms, we comparatively analyzed the effects of ripasudil and net…

- Disclosing long-term tolerance, efficacy and penetration properties of hyaluronic acid-coated latanoprost-loaded liposomes as chronic glaucoma therapy. [Journal Article]
- Frequent topical administration of hypotensive eye drops in glaucoma patients may lead to the development of dry eye disease (DED) symptoms, because of tear film destabilization and the adverse effects associated with antiglaucoma formulations. To address all this, in the current study preservative-free latanoprost-loaded (0.005 % w/v) synthetic phosphatidylcholine (1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phos…

- Effects of 0.024% latanoprostene bunod on intraocular pressure and pupil diameter in normal cats and cats with congenital glaucoma. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Transient IOP reduction was observed after topical administration of LAT and LBN in FCG cats; and mean IOP difference was statistically significantly greater in LBN-treated eyes. However, the apparent enhanced hypotensive effect of LBN is not clinically significant.

- The effects of topical latanoprost 0.005% treatment on microvascular changes in the optic nerve head and macula. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The initial increase in ONH and peripapillary VD, as well as macular VD, is attributed to the acute reduction in IOP from topical latanoprost 0.005%. However, the diminishment of sustained differences by the 3rd month indicates adaptation of the ONH and retinal microvasculature to decreased IOP through compensatory mechanisms.

- A phase III, multicentre, randomised, investigator-masked, cross-over, comparative, non-inferiority trial evaluating the efficacy and tolerability of generic preservative-free Latanoprost (Polpharma S.A.) compared to Xalatan[®] (Pfizer) in patients with ocular hypertension or primary open-angle glaucoma. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: Latanoprost Polpharma was shown to be non-inferior to Xalatan[®]. Both investigational products were equally well tolerated and safe. The data show a trend in favour of the test product with regards to the severity of hyperaemia and to the velocity of remission of ocular discomfort. Latanoprost Polpharma, being preservative-free, also avoids the cytotoxicity of benzalkonium chloride, the side effects of which may affect patient compliance and lower the quality of life.
