- Comparative glycolipid metabolic toxicities and mechanisms of the rubber-derived contaminants 6PPD and its derivative 6PPD-Q in zebrafish. [Journal Article]J Environ Sci (China). 2026 Nov; 169:379-392.JE
- Emerging pollutants 6PPD and its oxidation product 6PPD-Q enter the environment via rubber product abrasion, with scarce toxicological data for risk assessment. This study compared their toxicity and mechanisms on zebrafish glucolipid metabolism at environmentally relevant and sublethal concentrations. Both induced developmental malformations dose-dependently, with 120hpf larvae LC50 of 991.6 μg/…

- Altered vestibular-related reflex responses in Npc1-/- mice. [Journal Article]Brain Res. 2026 Oct 01; :150573. [Online ahead of print]BR
- CONCLUSIONS: Npc1 deficiency is associated with altered vestibular-related reflex responses that coexist with preserved vestibular hair-cell morphology, cholesterol-associated changes in the saccule, and cerebellar pathology. These findings demonstrate vestibular-related physiological abnormalities but do not permit complete separation of peripheral and central contributions to the balance phenotype. Objective vestibular testing may provide complementary measures for characterizing disease-related balance dysfunction.

- ER-localized and viscosity-responsive fluorescent probe for imaging osteosarcoma microenvironment. [Journal Article]Spectrochim Acta A Mol Biomol Spectrosc. 2026 Sep 28; 366:128881. [Online ahead of print]SA
- Osteosarcoma (OS) is a highly aggressive bone tumor with rapid progression and high metastatic potential. Current clinical diagnosis relies mainly on imaging and biopsy, which are limited in detecting early pathological abnormalities and are unsuitable for real-time or repeated monitoring. Viscosity, a key biophysical parameter of the tumor microenvironment (TME), is closely linked to metabolic a…

- Maternal Gestational and Lactational Exposure to Polystyrene Nanoplastics Triggers Vascular Injury and Lipid Deposition in Mouse Offspring. [Journal Article]Toxicol Sci. 2026 Oct 01. [Online ahead of print]TS
- As pervasive environmental contaminants, nanoplastics (NPs) have garnered increasing concern due to their potential health hazards. However, the impact of gestational and lactational exposure to NPs on offspring vascular structural injury remains unexplored. In this study, we used BALB/c mice to model gestational and lactational exposure to 100 nm polystyrene nanoplastics (PS-NPs) at doses of 0.1…

- Five isonitrogenous (35%) diets with different lipid contents were prepared by adding 0%, 3%, 6%, 9%, and 12% soybean oil (SO) as the single lipid source (with groups designated SO0, SO3, SO6, SO9, and SO12, respectively), followed by a 12-week feeding experiment in juvenile gibel carp (Carassius gibelio) (initial weight: 11.76 ± 0.09 g). The final weight (FW), weight gain rate (WGR), and specifi…

- Pathophysiology of sarcopenia in chronic pancreatitis: Insights from muscle biopsy and molecular profiling. [Journal Article]Pancreatology. 2026 Sep 17. [Online ahead of print]P
- CONCLUSIONS: Sarcopenia is common in patients of chronic pancreatitis, and it is characterized by activation of catabolic signaling, impaired anabolic pathways, mitochondrial dysfunction, and defective autophagy. These findings are hypothesis-generating and, if confirmed in larger mechanistic studies, may help identify targets to mitigate muscle loss and improve outcomes.

- Children's health and well-being are cross-cutting indicators of sustainable development and underpin society's long-term development potential and productivity. The Shanghai Child and Adolescent Health Cohort (SCAHC) was established with a focus on the sociodemographic, environmental and biological determinants of children's growth and development.

- CONCLUSIONS: MDR-PA infection disrupts intestinal flora homeostasis and induces metabolic disorders. The combined use of Qiguiyin Formula and fosfomycin alleviates pulmonary injury by improves the diversity and stability of the intestinal microbiota, corrects the abnormal activation of lipid and amino acid metabolic pathways, and restores the normal metabolic signals of the microbiota, thereby inhibiting lung damage.

- Chronic kidney disease in type 2 diabetes: Identifying key risk factors from Johor national diabetes registry study. [Journal Article]Med J Malaysia. 2026 Sep; 81(5):648-660.MJ
- CONCLUSIONS: CKD affected nearly one-quarter of patients with T2DM in this Johor registry-based study. Older age, hypertension, longer diabetes duration, lipid abnormalities, diabetic retinopathy, cerebrovascular disease, and diabetic foot ulcer were independently associated with CKD. These findings provide useful real-world evidence to support earlier risk identification and future development of a locally derived CKD risk prediction model among Malaysian patients with T2DM.
