- Work-Related Musculoskeletal Pain and Analgesic Use Among Undergraduate Dental Students in Iraq: A Multi-Institutional Cross-Sectional Study. [Journal Article]J Multidiscip Healthc. 2026; 19:640391.JM
- CONCLUSIONS: A high prevalence of WMSP was reported among Iraqi dental undergraduates, with nearly half of affected students reporting analgesic use. Higher analgesic-related pharmacological knowledge was independently associated with lower odds of reported analgesic consumption. A combined approach utilizing ergonomic and pharmacological education may promote better pain-management behaviors and safer analgesic use; however, longitudinal or interventional studies are needed to evaluate its effectiveness.

- Enhancing acetaminophen solubility and stability using an aqueous betaine chloride-acetic acid natural deep eutectic solvent: experimental and mechanistic insights. [Journal Article]RSC Adv. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]RA
- Improving the aqueous solubility of moderately soluble drugs using safe and sustainable solvent systems remains an important challenge in pharmaceutical formulation. In this study, a series of aqueous natural deep eutectic solvents (NADESs) were systematically designed and evaluated to enhance the solubility, stability, and biocompatibility of acetaminophen (ACP). The effects of hydrogen bond don…

- Two decades of prescription opioid-related cardiovascular safety signals: a FAERS-based pharmacovigilance study using machine learning. [Journal Article]Front Drug Saf Regul. 2026; 6:1898403.FD
- CONCLUSIONS: This study provides the first large-scale, cardiovascular adverse events-focused pharmacovigilance analysis across FDA-approved prescription opioids using over two decades of FAERS data. The findings highlight the need for targeted cardiovascular risk assessment and monitoring, and support more refined prescribing practices and opioid safety labeling. The results showed that the integration of traditional Empirical Bayes signal detection with unsupervised machine learning may enable scalable pharmacovigilance analyses and uncover latent cardiovascular risk patterns that may be masked in broader adverse event assessments.

- Effects of plant extract formulations on anxiety-like behavior, sociability, and gut microbiota diversity in paracetamol-treated adult zebrafish. [Journal Article]Biomol Biomed. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]BB
- Plant extract-based formulations may influence behavior and gut microbiota, but their effects following acute paracetamol (PAR) exposure remain unclear. This preliminary study evaluated the behavioral effects of two formulations, coded MOD and TEL, and explored TEL-associated microbiota changes in adult zebrafish. Sixty fish were randomized to six groups (10/group). PAR exposure (5 mM for 24 h) w…

- Liver metabolic zonation enables hepatocytes to carry out diverse, spatially organized functions essential for liver homeostasis and metabolism. However, in vitro recapitulation of zone-specific diversity, particularly in human pluripotent stem cell (PSC)-derived hepatocyte-like cells (HLCs), remains challenging, as these cells typically exhibit an immature phenotype. Here, we report a scalable d…

- Pregnancy Complicated by Citrin Deficiency and Gestational Diabetes Mellitus: Perioperative Metabolic Management and Postoperative Analgesic Challenges Following Caesarean Delivery. [Case Reports]
- Citrin deficiency is a rare autosomal recessive metabolic disorder caused by pathogenic variants in the SLC25A13 gene. Pregnancy in affected women is uncommon and presents unique challenges because conventional obstetric management may conflict with metabolic requirements. The coexistence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) introduces additional complexity. A 25-year-old, gravida 2 para 0+1 wo…

- Bridging evidence gaps in opioid-sparing postoperative pain control for percutaneous nephrolithotomy: a network meta-analysis identifying optimal strategies. [Systematic Review]
- Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is the gold standard for large renal calculi, yet postoperative pain from tract dilation, capsule injury, and inflammation often delays recovery, prolongs hospital stays, and reduces patient satisfaction. Amid the opioid crisis, reliance on opioids for pain control raises concerns over adverse effects like respiratory depression, nausea, and dependence. This ha…

- Alcohol-induced dose dumping is a significant concern for modified-release oral dosage forms, as it can compromise the intended release behaviour. For enteric-coated formulations, alcohol exposure may lead to loss of enteric functionality and unintended premature drug release in the stomach. Although previous studies have mainly assessed the loss of enteric performance in delayed-release dosage f…

- CONCLUSIONS: Brief structured preoperative psychological support was associated with more favorable postoperative pain trajectories and lower postoperative anxiety scores in a sample with low baseline anxiety. These findings suggest that feasible psychoeducational and relaxation-based interventions may support early perioperative symptom management in this population.
