- Chronic Eosinophilic Pneumonia: A Diagnostic Challenge With Atypical Bronchoalveolar Lavage Findings and an Organizing Pneumonia Pattern. [Journal Article]Respirol Case Rep. 2026 Oct; 14(10):e70780.RC
- Chronic eosinophilic pneumonia (CEP) is a rare eosinophilic lung disease. We report a 61-year-old man with asthma who presented with progressive exertional dyspnoea for 2 months and worsening productive cough for 2 weeks. Peripheral blood eosinophilia was 15% (1314 cells/μL), and chest computed tomography showed bilateral peripheral, upper-lobe-predominant opacities. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) …

- Overview of Cancer Rehabilitation Provided in Palliative Care Units in Japan: A Nationwide Survey. [Journal Article]Phys Ther Res. 2026; 29(2):125-132.PT
- CONCLUSIONS: The findings highlight the need for further evaluation of the effectiveness of interventions tailored to unmet medical needs, as well as the development of evidence stratified by cancer type and disease stage. Such evidence may inform future policies to strengthen rehabilitation within PCUs.

- Thoracic fluid content as a predictor of ventilatory weaning and postoperative pulmonary complications in infants undergoing open heart surgery: A prospective observational study. [Journal Article]Indian J Anaesth. 2026 Sep; 70(9):1042-1049.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: TFC > 45 kΩ-1 was associated with delayed weaning in infants following OHS. Additionally, electrical cardiometry can be used as an objective bedside trend monitor for assessing postoperative pulmonary complications in this cohort.

- Integrative Omics Analysis Reveals a CD206+ Macrophage/Dendritic Cell-CD155-TIGIT+ Regulatory T Cell Axis as a Protective Immune Checkpoint Pathway in Atherosclerosis Progression. [Journal Article]Barrier Immun. 2026 Sep; 2(3):131-146.BI
- RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis revealed transcriptional features indicative of sustained immunosuppression within regulatory T cells (Tregs) isolated from atherosclerotic tissues, highlighting the critical contribution of immune checkpoint (ICP) receptor-ligand interactions to atherosclerosis progression. To comprehensively characterize the roles of ICP signaling in this context, we integrated…

- Postoperative pulmonary complications after totally thoracoscopic cardiac surgery: a retrospective cohort study comparing single-lumen and double-lumen endotracheal tubes. [Journal Article]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1928907.FM
- CONCLUSIONS: An SLT-based strategy was associated with improved perioperative efficiency, fewer pulmonary and airway complications, and faster recovery. These findings warrant further investigation in prospective studies.

- Gata4 regulates fibroblast migration in a fibroblast-source-dependent manner under physiological matrix stiffness. [Journal Article]Front Cardiovasc Med. 2026; 13:1865878.FC
- Fibroblast migration contributes to the spatial organization of tissue repair and extracellular matrix remodeling, but the transcriptional mechanisms regulating this process under physiologically relevant mechanical conditions remain incompletely understood. We investigated whether GATA4 regulates fibroblast migration in a tissue-of-origin-dependent manner. Cardiac fibroblasts (CFs), lung fibrobl…

- A mechanical stimulation-related gene signature predicts prognosis, reflects immune microenvironment remodeling, and identifies COL22A1 as a potential therapeutic target in lung adenocarcinoma. [Journal Article]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1918878.FI
- CONCLUSIONS: We established an MSRG-based prognostic signature that not only predicts survival in LUAD but also reflects tumor immune microenvironment remodeling and potential immune escape. Our preliminary findings also suggest that COL22A1 is involved in LUAD progression and may have potential as a therapeutic target.

- circHIPK3 promotes pro-fibrotic epithelial reprogramming via the miR-29a-3p/SPARC axis with associated enhancement of TGF-β/SMAD signaling. [Journal Article]Noncoding RNA Res. 2026 Dec; 21:11-27.NR
- CONCLUSIONS: We identify a circHIPK3/miR-29a-3p/SPARC axis driving pro-fibrotic epithelial reprogramming and TGF-β/SMAD enhancement in experimental pulmonary fibrosis, revealing a mechanism and potential therapeutic target.

- Integrative multi-omics analysis prioritizes ALDH2 as a candidate Puerarin-associated target linked to macrophage infiltration in lung adenocarcinoma. [Journal Article]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1918481.FI
- CONCLUSIONS: Puerarin suppressed tumor growth in a murine LUAD model and was associated with ALDH2 upregulation and increased macrophage infiltration. Integrated analyses prioritize ALDH2 as a candidate molecule potentially linking puerarin treatment to changes in the tumor immune microenvironment. Direct puerarin-ALDH2 binding, macrophage-specific ALDH2 regulation, and the functional consequences for macrophage polarization require further experimental validation.

- Oral health in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: are physicians prepared to integrate it into routine care? [Journal Article]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1945808.FM
- CONCLUSIONS: Despite generally positive attitudes towards oral health in COPD, routine oral health assessment remains infrequently incorporated into clinical practice. The identified associations highlight potential areas for improving the integration of oral health into COPD care; however, the cross-sectional design does not permit causal inference.

- Neutrophil extracellular traps promote lung colonization of triple-negative breast cancer by inducing mesenchymal to epithelial transition. [Journal Article]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1892317.FI
- Metastatic recurrence is still a major problem for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in the pulmonary microenvironment are known to play key roles in the metastatic colonization and outgrowth of TNBC. However, the exact role that NETs play in determining the phenotypic plasticity and reactivation of disseminated tumor cells (DTCs) during acute relapse rem…

- CONCLUSIONS: Genomic profiling using a 50-gene NGS panel identified additional genomic alterations in patients with advanced NSCLC; however, documentation of the influence of these findings on SDM remained limited. Implementation of a standardized post-NGS documentation template may improve SDM documentation and facilitate more comprehensive integration of genomic findings into routine precision oncology practice.
