- Recombinant expression and antimicrobial activity of Aureocin A53 against Staphylococcus aureus isolated from bovine intramammary infections. [Journal Article]Iran J Vet Res. 2026; 27(1):92-98.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Our results underscore the feasibility of producing active recombinant A53. Further studies are needed to evaluate its effectiveness against additional S. aureus isolates and to optimize expression and recovery processes. Improving production scalability will be essential to evaluate the stability and efficacy of peptide in in vivo models, such as the bovine mammary gland, thereby supporting its potential therapeutic application.

- Bovine Mastitis and Detection of Staphylococcus aureus Among Dairy Cows in Dessie Town, Northeast Ethiopia: Prevalence and Associated Risk Factors. [Journal Article]Vet Med Int. 2026; 2026:9069263.VM
- CONCLUSIONS: This study revealed a high burden of both clinical and subclinical mastitis in dairy farms around Dessie Town, with S. aureus being a leading pathogen. The strong association between mastitis and risk factors such as hygiene and teat anatomy highlights the need for integrated control measures, farmer training, and routine screening to improve udder health and milk quality.

- Mastitis and breast abscess associated with nipple piercings: a case study. [Journal Article]Emerg Nurse. 2026 Oct 08. [Online ahead of print]EN
- This article presents a composite case study of a 27-year-old woman who attended a first contact service with right breast pain and systemic symptoms six months after undergoing a nipple piercing. She was subsequently diagnosed with non-lactational mastitis and treated successfully with antibiotics. The article reviews the anatomy of the female breast, the presentation and management of mastitis …

- Whole-genome resequencing of the Kazakh coarse-wool fat-tailed sheep identifies functional variants in disease-associated genes. [Journal Article]
- The Kazakh coarse-wool fat-tailed sheep is an indigenous breed of Central Asia and represents a valuable genetic resource adapted to harsh continental environmental conditions. Despite its economic importance, its genomic architecture, population structure, and the genetic basis of disease resistance remain largely unexplored. Whole-genome sequencing was performed on 20 Kazakh coarse-wool fat-tai…

- Predicting probability of cure in bovine clinical mastitis. [Journal Article]Prev Vet Med. 2026 Oct 02; 257:107042. [Online ahead of print]PV
- Knowledge of the probability that a dairy cow will cure of mastitis when treated with antimicrobials would facilitate informed treatment decisions. A generalised linear mixed model was created for predicting the probability of cure of cases of clinical mastitis. Cure was defined as the absence of subclinical and clinical mastitis over the subsequent two or three milk-recordings. The data describe…

- Staphylococcus aureus in bovine intramammary infections: A global systematic review and meta-analysis of prevalence and antimicrobial resistance patterns. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: S. aureus is highly prevalent in bovine IMIs worldwide, with marked regional heterogeneity and substantial resistance to commonly used antimicrobials, emphasizing the urgent need for targeted surveillance, prudent antimicrobial use, and improved mastitis control strategies at the global and regional levels.

- Review and assessment of sensor-based disease detection in dairy cattle: conceptual and practical challenges. [Review]J Dairy Res. 2026 Oct 06; :1-8. [Online ahead of print]JD
- Recent advances in sensor technologies and machine learning have increased expectations for actionable disease detection in dairy cattle, yet farm-level adoption remains limited. This conceptual review outlines an implementation trajectory from proof of concept to deployment as follows: (i) case definitions and defensible reference standards for diseases such as mastitis, lameness and respiratory…

- Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) remains the most aggressive form of breast cancer with a worse prognosis than other subtypes. Its high metastatic potential, limited availability of targeted therapies, and increased likelihood of being diagnosed at an advanced stage make it one of the most complex clinical challenges in breast cancer. Today, thanks to the advent of antibody-drug conjugates (A…

- This study focuses on the development of nanocapsules loaded with Tagetes minuta essential oil (TEO-NC) for milking management in sustainable dairy systems. The nanocapsules were prepared by nanoprecipitation, and their physicochemical properties were evaluated for 60 days at 4°C and 25°C. Antimicrobial and disinfectant activities were evaluated in the presence and absence of organic matter and o…

- The corpus luteum transcriptome is dysregulated in dairy cows with mastitis. [Journal Article]Theriogenology. 2026 Oct 03; 268:118238. [Online ahead of print]T
- Mastitis-induced inflammation in dairy cows can trigger premature luteolysis and subsequent pregnancy loss; however, the molecular mechanisms underlying these effects remain poorly understood. This study aimed to characterize changes in gene expression in the corpus luteum of cows with clinical or subclinical mastitis compared with healthy cows. Multiparous pregnant cows from a commercial pasture…

- Physiological, genetic and inflammatory factors influencing somatic cell count in goat milk: a review. [Review]
- Somatic cell count (SCC) is widely used as an indicator of milk quality and udder health in ruminants; however, its interpretation in goats remains complex due to species-specific physiology and multifactorial variability. A key challenge in goat dairy production is distinguishing physiological from pathological SCC elevation. This critical narrative review synthesizes current knowledge on physio…
