- Mechanistic insights into the influence of aqueous ethanolic media on the permeability of HPMC phthalate-based isolated films. [Journal Article]Eur J Pharm Biopharm. 2026 Oct 09; :115258. [Online ahead of print]EJ
- Alcohol-induced dose dumping is a significant concern for modified-release oral dosage forms, as it can compromise the intended release behaviour. For enteric-coated formulations, alcohol exposure may lead to loss of enteric functionality and unintended premature drug release in the stomach. Although previous studies have mainly assessed the loss of enteric performance in delayed-release dosage f…

- Pharmacological inhibition of MET impairs hepatic regeneration and recovery in a murine model of acetaminophen-induced liver injury. [Journal Article]Toxicol Appl Pharmacol. 2026 Oct 09; :118079. [Online ahead of print]TA
- CONCLUSIONS: Overall, MET inhibition using capmatinib notably impaired regeneration and resolution of AILI, without altering peak injury, emphasizing MET's direct role in reparative response.

- Brief preoperative psychological support and postoperative pain and anxiety in living kidney donors: A randomized controlled trial. [Journal Article]Gen Hosp Psychiatry. 2026 Oct 06; 103:137-143. [Online ahead of print]GH
- CONCLUSIONS: Brief structured preoperative psychological support was associated with more favorable postoperative pain trajectories and lower postoperative anxiety scores in a sample with low baseline anxiety. These findings suggest that feasible psychoeducational and relaxation-based interventions may support early perioperative symptom management in this population.

- Impact of Migraine and Its Management in 5 Gulf Countries: Results of a Social Media Platforms Listening Study. [Journal Article]JMIR Form Res. 2026 Oct 09; 10:e82843.JF
- CONCLUSIONS: The study finds that analysis of migraine discourse across the 5 Gulf countries reveals active engagement by patients and HCPs in migraine-related discussions on various social media platforms. However, many rely on self-management and alternative medicine instead of seeking professional medical help, which leads to improper management of symptoms. The findings should be regarded as compelling descriptive signals in discourse rather than predictive or inferential outcomes. Social media listening may help to identify possible gaps in management and suggest areas for improvement, but these findings need further validation.

- Low pressure (8 mmHg) pneumoperitoneum does not significantly reduce postoperative visual analog scale score after laparoscopic cholecystectomy: Randomized trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]PLoS One. 2026; 21(10):e0360476.Plos
- CONCLUSIONS: LPP (8 mmHg) was feasible without increasing operative duration. It did not show a statistically significant reduction in VAS pain scores at 6 hours. Larger studies are required to confirm safety equivalence regarding rare surgical complications.

- Paracetamol overdose: systematic review of case reports and national toxicological data (2018-2023). [Systematic Review]Cent Eur J Public Health. 2026 Sep; 34(3):191-195.CE
- CONCLUSIONS: The majority of paracetamol intoxications reported in the literature and in national toxicological data were intentional, with adolescent females representing a key risk group. Increased attention to the safe use and communication of paracetamol-related risks is needed.

- Tebentafusp desensitization in an adult with metastatic uveal melanoma. [Journal Article]J Oncol Pharm Pract. 2026 Oct 09; :10781552261495131. [Online ahead of print]JO
- IntroductionMetastasis occurs in almost 50% of patients with uveal melanoma. In patients who are HLA-A*02:01 positive, first line treatment is the Immune mobilizing monoclonal T cell receptor Against Cancer (ImmTAC), tebentafusp, which increases overall survival significantly at one year compared to single-agent immunotherapy or chemotherapy. Hypersensitivity reactions (HSR) to cancer therapeutic…

- Food-Derived Extracellular Vesicles Enable Oral Liver-Targeted Delivery of Curcumin for Acute Liver Failure. [Journal Article]ACS Appl Bio Mater. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]AA
- Oral delivery of water-repelling drugs for acute liver failure (ALF) often runs into problems like poor solubility, instability, and low absorption. In this work, we found that extracellular vesicles derived from honey (HEVs) can serve as a natural nanocarrier that works orally and targets the liver on its own. After isolating and characterizing these vesicles, we saw they are membrane-bound nano…

- The occurrence of paracetamol in water motivates the development of treatment processes that combine contaminant removal with reduced dependence on grid electricity. Iron-electrode electrocoagulation was optimized using a regulated direct-current power supply, a face-centered central composite design, and response surface methodology. The initial paracetamol concentration (0.1-0.3 mg·mL[-1]), rea…

- High Doses of N-Acetyl-P-Aminophenol Cause Acute Changes in Electroencephalographic and Electrocardiographic Activities in Wistar Rats. [Journal Article]Basic Clin Pharmacol Toxicol. 2026 Nov; 139(5):e70321.BC
- N-acetyl-p-aminophenol (APAP), or acetaminophen, is the most prescribed analgesic and antipyretic, even used in association with other drugs. Because it is easily bought in drugstores, much evidence about its toxic effects is known due to high doses or continuous use, which can lead to death in cases of intoxication. The present study aimed demonstrate the ability of APAP to change the brain and …

- An Organoid-Based Assay for Evaluating Oxidative Stress-Reactive Fluorescent Probes Using the CERO 3D Bioreactor in a Mouse Hepatic Oxidative Injury Model. [Journal Article]Methods Mol Biol. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]MM
- Oxidative stress is a central driver of acute liver injury, and protein carbonylation and lipid aldehyde formation are among its most direct chemical signatures. Most carbonyl-reactive fluorescent probes have been characterized only in two-dimensional culture, and their behavior in three-dimensional tissue is often unclear. Here we describe a protocol for evaluating carbonyl-reactive fluorescent …
