- Dermatologic Adverse Events Associated with T-Cell Engager Therapy. [Review]
- T-cell engager therapies, including bispecific T-cell engagers and the immune-mobilizing monoclonal T-cell receptor against cancer tebentafusp, are an emerging class of anticancer immunotherapy, with rapid expansion of the class since initial approval of blinatumomab in 2014 and with distinct dermatologic adverse events increasingly recognized across agents. Tebentafusp and talquetamab demonstrat…

- Severe Phototoxic Vesiculobullous Eruption Following Sequential Exposure to Terbinafine, Ciprofloxacin, and Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 May; 18(5):e109704.C
- Phototoxic drug eruptions are well-recognized adverse reactions to several classes of medications, including fluoroquinolones, sulfonamides, and antifungals. However, sequential photosensitization following exposure to multiple agents is rarely described. We present the case of a 44-year-old Hispanic male commercial driver who developed a severe, vesiculobullous, photo-distributed rash following …

- The Steroid Veil: Complications in Identifying Lupus. [Case Reports]
- While topical steroids are an invaluable tool used for the treatment of pruritic rashes, they can also complicate attempts at a definitive diagnosis. The temporal association between steroid use and biopsy must be taken into account when investigating the underlying etiology of such rashes. In patients with a history of dermatologic disease with the onset of a new rash, management should include …

- Photodistributed Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis: a systematic review and proposal for a new diagnostic classification. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Physicians should be aware that UVR may precipitate SJS/TEN in patients taking susceptible drugs. After a 24-h delay from UVR exposure, a non-distinct, photodistributed rash appears with no flu-like prodrome and progresses for at least 48 h to include vesiculobullous eruptions and mucous membrane involvement. Photodistributed SJS/TEN appears to be photo-drug-induced with a unique onset and rash presentation that should be recognized as a distinct diagnosis.

- Photodistributed eruptive telangiectasias: an uncommon adverse drug reaction. A retrospective case series. [Journal Article]Clin Exp Dermatol. 2022 Nov; 47(11):2012-2017.CE
- Drug-induced photodistributed telangiectasia (PT) is a cutaneous adverse effect (AE) resulting from the interaction of ultraviolet radiation with pharmacotherapy. Reports of PT in the literature are scarce. We report 25 cases of drug-induced PT highlighting the potential relationship between the onset of skin lesions, drug intake and photo exposure. We alert practitioners that PT is a possible de…

- Pellagra in a patient with primary Sjögren's syndrome. [Case Reports]
- A 27-year-old woman presented with persistent dryness of the mouth and eyes. She presented with permanent photodistributed rash involving the face and distal extremities. Laboratory tests showed positive Sjögren's syndrome (SS)-A and SS-B antibodies. Histological examination of minor salivary gland biopsy revealed inflammatory infiltration grade 4 according to Chisholm's classification. Skin biop…

- Systemic lupus erythematosus presenting as Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis: a report of three cases. [Case Reports]
- Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are life-threatening dermatological conditions that are characterized by mucositis, epidermal detachment and erosions. The underlying etiology in SJS and TEN is almost invariably secondary to drugs. Rarely, other causes such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), infections and vaccinations have been implicated. This report descr…

- [Photodistribution of varicella in an adult]. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: The clinical lesions and the evolution of a photoaggravated varicella differs from those of classical varicella. The vesicles are selectively distributed on areas previously sunburned or suntanned. The more tanned or more erythematous the area is, the greater the number of lesions. They are often at the same stage of development and the course can be shortened with only one or two progressive phases. Inflammatory modifications secondary to ultraviolet exposure induces in photoexposed areas an increase in vascular flow and also an increase in capillary permeability, which can promote diapedesis of the lymphocytes or the transit of viral particles. Therefore, sun exposure during the incubation of the virus can enhance the deposit of viral pArticles in the cutaneous areas submitted actinic stress. The amount of virus in sun exposed areas is greater than in the non-exposed ones.
- Docetaxel (taxotere) induced subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus: report of 4 cases. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Pathogenetically, docetaxel may evoke a lupus-like eruption through its proapoptotic effects on replicating cells, which could in turn provoke the release of nucleosomes postulated to be target antigens in LE. It seems reasonable to postulate that the rapidly replicating keratinocyte, when subjected to the cytotoxic effects of docetaxel, would also manifest nucleosome release followed by a local autoimmune reaction in a genetically predisposed host.
