- Longitudinal cardiometabolic trajectories in children and adolescents in therapy with second-generation antipsychotics: a real-world multicenter study. [Journal Article]Front Psychiatry. 2026; 17:1940707.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: While demonstrating an acceptable tolerability profile, risperidone and aripiprazole were associated with different cardiometabolic and endocrine variations over a 24-month period in this real-world pediatric cohort. These findings should be interpreted within the context of the study's observational nature and of potential confounding factors (e.g., unmeasured dietary, physical activity, and pubertal factors), highlighting the clinical necessity of longitudinal monitoring in children and adolescent patients.

- Integrated analysis of autophagy-related lncRNAs and oxidative DNA damage reveals molecular signatures of severe sperm abnormalities. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Dysregulation of autophagy-related lncRNAs and increased oxidative DNA damage are strongly associated with severe sperm abnormalities. The observed molecular alterations may represent either contributors to sperm dysfunction or adaptive responses to oxidative stress. Combined evaluation of these markers showed promising discriminatory performance, although validation in larger independent cohorts is required before clinical application.

- Spironolactone-Induced Bilateral Gynecomastia in a Patient With Comorbid Conditions. [Case Reports]
- Gynecomastia is a benign proliferation of male breast glandular tissue caused by an imbalance between estrogen and androgen activity. Spironolactone, a potassium-sparing diuretic commonly prescribed for edema and ascites in chronic liver disease, is a recognized cause of drug-induced gynecomastia because of its antiandrogenic effects. We report the case of a man in his 50s with chronic liver dise…

- Left Ventricular Recovery Following Bromocriptine Initiation at Different Stages of Peripartum Cardiomyopathy: A Report of Two Cases. [Case Reports]
- Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is a rare yet potentially life-threatening form of heart failure that occurs during late pregnancy or within the months following delivery. Bromocriptine, which suppresses prolactin secretion, has emerged as a promising adjunctive therapy for PPCM; however, the optimal timing of its initiation remains uncertain. We describe two patients with PPCM who received brom…

- Hypothalamic prolactin receptor[+] dopaminergic neurons regulate energy metabolism and nociceptive threshold in mice during lactation. [Journal Article]
- Women during lactation undergo significant bone loss and metabolic changes. However, the underlying mechanisms in the brain remain unclear. Herein, we found that prolactin receptor (PRLR)[+] neurons in the hypothalamus control lactation physiology and metabolism in mice. Prolactin induces tyrosine hydroxylase (Th) expression in PRLR[+] dopaminergic neurons of the arcuate nucleus (ARC). Interestin…

- The Neuroendocrine-Cardiovascular Axis in Chronic Kidney Disease: the role of prolactinand gonadal dysfunction. [Review]Cardiorenal Med. 2026 Sep 08; :1. [Online ahead of print]CM
- CONCLUSIONS: Hyperprolactinemia and gonadal dysfunction represent potentially relevant non-traditional cardiovascular risk factors in CKD. Their integration within the broader neuroendocrine-cardiovascular axis provides a novel pathophysiological framework linking endocrine abnormalities, uremic toxicity, and cardiovascular disease. Improved recognition of these disturbances may open new perspectives for cardiovascular risk stratification and targeted therapeutic interventions in CKD and dialysis populations.

- Role of nuclear receptor NR4A2 in prolactin secretion by female rat lactotrophs. [Journal Article]J Endocrinol. 2026 Sep 01; 270(3).JE
- The NR4A nuclear receptor family (NR4A1, NR4A2, and NR4A3) comprises stimulus-responsive orphan nuclear receptors expressed in endocrine tissues, including the anterior pituitary gland. However, their functional roles in lactotrophs remain poorly understood. Because prolactin (PRL) secretion varies markedly across reproductive states, it provides a useful physiological model for investigating gen…

- Primary thyroid dysfunction and changes in the gonadal axis and SHBG in adult men: a prospective cohort study. [Journal Article]Eur Thyroid J. 2026 Oct 01; 15(5).ET
- CONCLUSIONS: In hyperthyroid males during treatment, short-term changes in the gonadal axis are mainly mediated by reduced SHBG, without changes in free T, gonadotropins, or T:E2 ratio. In hypothyroid males, SHBG and gonadotropins increased under levothyroxine supplementation. These findings highlight the importance of assessing SHBG when evaluating the male gonadal axis during thyroid dysfunction.
