- Drug-Dependent Disruption of Amyloid Nanofibril-Mediated Wrinkling in Supraparticle Assemblies. [Journal Article]ACS Appl Bio Mater. 2026 Oct 05. [Online ahead of print]AA
- Supraparticles (SPs) are secondary particles formed through nanoparticle self-assembly with porous architectures and bioinspired structural features suitable for drug delivery applications. Although binder-mediated structural control influences SP assembly, how different loaded drugs systematically alter amyloid nanofibril (ANF) and SP structures remains unclear. In this study, neutral, basic, an…

- Acute Effects of a Low Dose of Caffeine on Physiological and Performance Factors in Young Male Soccer Players: A Randomized Crossover Study. [Journal Article]Curr Dev Nutr. 2026 Oct; 10(10):109528.CD
- CONCLUSIONS: Within the limits of the current sample size, acute ingestion of 3 mg·kg-1 caffeine elicited modest physiological responses in adolescent soccer players, significantly augmenting postexercise HR without substantially altering BP, RPP, or soccer-specific performance factors. However, given the observed numerical improvements in functional test results, these findings should be interpreted cautiously, as low-dose caffeine may offer subtle practical benefits that warrant further investigation with greater statistical power.

- Acute Caffeine Intake Does Not Modulate Active or Reactive Inhibition in Non-Clinical Young Adults, and ADHD Symptoms Do Not Moderate Its Effects. [Randomized Controlled Trial]Hum Psychopharmacol. 2026 Nov; 41(6):e70067.HP
- CONCLUSIONS: Caffeine produced no acute benefit for either form of inhibition, and ADHD symptoms did not moderate its effects. Bayes factors supported the absence rather than the nondetection of these effects, arguing against an acute improvement of inhibitory control that scales with ADHD symptom severity in nonclinical young adults. Whether this also holds for chronic consumption or for adults with diagnosed ADHD remains to be tested.

- Assessment of Excised and Reconstructed Human Pigmented Skin Models for In Vitro Permeation Testing. [Journal Article]Eur J Pharm Sci. 2026 Oct 04; :107681. [Online ahead of print]EJ
- Percutaneous absorption is essential in the safety assessment of topical drugs and cosmetic products, but the potential impact of skin pigmentation on dermal absorption remains understudied. Here, a novel framework integrating quantitative pigmentation characterization, barrier function assessment, and in vitro permeation testing (IVPT) to investigate the role of melanin in percutaneous absorptio…

- Acetaminophen toxicity: A comprehensive revie. [Review]Forensic Sci Rev. 2026 Jul; 38(2):111-128.FS
- Poisoning by acetaminophen is a serious public health concern because of its accessibility and the ease with which overdoses can occur accidentally or on purpose. The liver metabolizes acetaminophen, and when taken in excess, it is transformed into a poisonous metabolite that seriously damages the liver and may result in hepatic failure and death. The cornerstone of treatment is the early adminis…
- Scoparone protects against acetaminophen-induced acute liver injury: Insights from In vivo experiments and RNA sequencing. [Journal Article]Biochem Biophys Rep. 2026 Dec; 48:102792.BB
- CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates that Scoparone effectively protects the liver from acetaminophen-induced injury. The results provide novel insights into the anti-inflammatory and antioxidative effects of Sco and suggest it as a potential therapeutic strategy for liver injury.

- Interplay between semi-continuous blending and continuous twin-screw wet granulation: impact of blend uniformity on CQAs of low-dose granules. [Journal Article]Int J Pharm. 2026 Oct 02; :127502. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- Achieving a uniform powder mixture in low-dose and complex formulations is inherently challenging and can undermine downstream process performance and product quality. This study aimed to assess the extent to which twin-screw wet granulation (TSWG) can mitigate upstream blend variability caused by short and less intensive mixing conditions. Two low-dose formulations, containing either a highly wa…

- Predictors of Failure of Conventional Dose Caffeine Therapy in Neonates Below 32 Weeks' Gestation: An Ambispective Cohort Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In neonates below 32 wk gestation, lower gestation predicts failure of conventional-dose caffeine therapy. Higher initial maintenance doses warrant further exploration in neonates below 28 wk.

- Exploring metabolic candidates and inflammatory mediation in Parkinson's disease: a pilot integrative metabolomics and Mendelian randomization study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This exploratory study integrates pilot-scale metabolomics with genetic analyses to identify candidate metabolic signals and inflammatory pathways linked to PD. However, given the small metabolomics sample size, cross-cohort data integration, and potential biological mismatch between plasma-derived metabolites and genetically predicted metabolite levels, these findings should be considered hypothesis-generating and interpreted with caution.

- From Multiple Treatment Failures to Functional Improvement With Lower-Sodium Oxybate in Idiopathic Hypersomnia: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- Idiopathic hypersomnia (IH) is a chronic central disorder of hypersomnolence characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness despite adequate or prolonged sleep, with potentially substantial effects on occupational functioning, cognition, and driving safety. Pharmacologic management may be challenging when treatment is limited by inadequate efficacy or adverse effects. We report a young woman with …

- Valorization of Agroindustrial Waste: Use of Adsorbents from Peanut Shells for Removal of Paracetamol and Propranolol. [Journal Article]
- The improper disposal of pharmaceuticals such as paracetamol and propranolol represent a significant environmental concern due to their high persistence in the environment and low removal efficiency by conventional wastewater treatment processes. In this context, this work aimed to develop and evaluate five adsorbents derived from peanut shells precursor for removal of paracetamol and propranolol…

- Effects of caffeine supplementation on post-exercise recovery: a systematic review and three-level meta-analysis of perceptual, functional performance, physiological, and sleep outcomes. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Caffeine appears to have domain-specific effects on post-exercise recovery. It may modestly improve functional performance during recovery, does not clearly improve perceptual or physiological recovery, and may impair sleep. Functional and sleep findings should be interpreted cautiously because statistical significance varied in sensitivity analyses and prediction intervals included the null.

- Enhanced liver regeneration via targeted mRNA delivery for partial in vivo reprogramming. [Journal Article]Cell Rep Med. 2026 Oct 01; :103084. [Online ahead of print]CR
- Recent studies indicate that injury-induced dedifferentiation generates transient regenerative progenitors (TRPs), which support tissue repair across multiple organs, including the liver. In vivo partial reprogramming using Yamanaka factors (Oct4, Sox2, Klf4, and c-Myc; OSKM) produces intestinal TRPs closely resembling those arising from injury-induced dedifferentiation, but transgenic or viral a…
