- Percutaneous Endoscopic Interlaminar Lumbar Discectomy for Treating Acute Cauda Equina Syndrome: A Case Series of 25 Patients. [Journal Article]J Neurol Surg A Cent Eur Neurosurg. 2026 Sep 28. [Online ahead of print]JN
- CONCLUSIONS: PEILD as a minimally invasive surgery could be considered a valid surgical option for treatment of different stages of CES; however, it has a steep learning curve and needs high surgical experience to ensure adequate decompression, especially in complete CES.

- An Updated Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Fluoroscopic Caudal, Interlaminar, and Transforaminal Epidural Injections in Lumbar Disc Herniation. [Systematic Review]Pain Physician. 2026 Sep; 29(6):E553-E590.PP
- CONCLUSIONS: Epidural injections using local anesthetic with steroids demonstrated Level I evidence for both transforaminal and interlaminar approaches, whereas local anesthetic alone demonstrated Level II evidence. While, caudal epidural injections provided Level II evidence for both local anesthetics with steroids and local anesthetics alone.
- Perioperative Hydrogen Inhalation and Postoperative Pain After Endoscopic Discectomy: A Pilot Non-Randomized Clinical Study with Exploratory Murine Data. [Clinical Trial]
- Background and Objectives: Postoperative pain after endoscopic discectomy may reflect acute surgical nociception superimposed on pre-existing radicular symptoms. Molecular hydrogen (H2) has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, but clinical evidence for perioperative analgesia is limited. We evaluated the association between perioperative H2 inhalation and postoperative pain and analgesic…

- Diagnostic Dilemmas and Perioperative Challenges in Lumbar Spinal Chondroma: A Narrative Review with Case Presentation. [Case Reports]Acta Neurol Taiwan. 2026 Jul 01; 35(3):128-136.AN
- The occurrence of lumbar spinal chondromas is exceptionally rare, with fewer than 30 cases reported. Due to their rarity and similar presentation to more common spinal pathologies, lumbar spinal chondromas often pose diagnostic challenges. A 19-year-old patient was diagnosed with lumbar spinal chondroma at the L5-S1 level. The tumor was initially misinterpreted as a case of lumbar disc prolapse, …

- Piriformis syndrome and lumbosacral radiculopathy: An overlooked coexistence. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Piriformis syndrome should be regarded as a potential coexisting condition rather than an exclusion criterion in patients with LR. In patients with LR and PS, ultrasound-guided PM injections provide short-term benefits, facilitating early return to daily activities.

- C-1101 multi-protein platelet and plasma-derived therapeutic to treat chronic lumbosacral radiculopathy. [Journal Article]
- Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) leads to chronic lumbosacral radiculopathy (LSR) with nerve root compression resulting in numbness and low back pain. The aim was to evaluate therapeutic and immunomodulatory potential of multi-protein platelet and plasma-derived biologic (C-1101) to alter inflammatory mediators and gene expression in IVDD.

- Distribution of chronic primary and secondary pain in a patient sample with psychiatric disorders. [Journal Article]Scand J Pain. 2026 Jan 01; 26(1).SJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This study indicates that chronic pain in patients with psychiatric disorders may include complex and multiple chronic primary and secondary pain conditions. Given such complexity, implementing pain assessment and management into routine psychiatric care as well as collaboration across different areas of medical expertise is warranted.

- Genetically Predicted Intervertebral Disc Degeneration and Risk of Osteoarthritis: A Two-Sample Mendelian Randomization Study with Mediation Analysis of Obesity and Sarcopenia. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study provides genetic evidence supporting a potential link between spinal degeneration and chronic pain-related osteoarthritis. Obesity and sarcopenia may serve as partial mediators, highlighting potential targets for prevention and intervention in chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions.

- Improving Clinical Trial Design in Low Back Pain: Insights from Studies of Gabapentinoids. [Review]
- Low back pain (LBP) is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide, affecting hundreds of millions of people globally. Scientific literature continues to highlight key issues in managing these patients, including accuracy of diagnostic terminology, identification of the specific pain mechanisms, and lack of effective licensed treatment options. Using published clinical trials of gabapentino…

- Effect of sarcopenia and paraspinal muscle morphology on conservative treatment outcomes in lumbar spinal stenosis: a prospective cohort study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Sarcopenia is independently associated with worse short-term outcomes after conservative treatment in older LSS patients, with this association statistically mediated by reduced paraspinal CSA.

- StatPearls: Lumbar Epidural Steroid Injection [BOOK]StatPearls. StatPearls Publishing: Treasure Island (FL).BOOK
- Lumbar epidural steroid injections (LESIs) are minimally invasive, image-guided procedures used to treat lumbosacral radicular pain by depositing corticosteroid, with or without local anesthetic, into the epidural space. Radicular pain results from inflammation, irritation, or compression of a lumbar or sacral nerve root. This pain commonly presents in the low back and radiates into the buttock o…

- Immune Cell-Specific Regulatory Gene Prioritization in Low Back Pain Using Single-Cell eQTL-Informed Mendelian Randomization and Colocalization. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study prioritizes a focused set of peripheral immune cell-specific regulatory candidates associated with LBP using convergent MR, colocalization, and related-phenotype evidence. The qPCR findings provide complementary evidence of inflammatory responsiveness for selected candidates but do not establish the cell-type-specific or molecular mechanisms underlying LBP. C1orf86, RGS12, and NT5E warrant further investigation in the immune cell populations and pain-relevant tissues highlighted by the genetic analyses.
