- Hypogonadism in Cisgender Men Living With HIV: Prevalence, Clinical and Metabolic Features. [Journal Article]Andrology. 2026 Oct 04. [Online ahead of print]A
- CONCLUSIONS: One-third of MLWH had hypogonadism, mostly of central origin. cFT assessment was essential to avoid underdiagnosis. Hypogonadism in MLWH seems to be associated with metabolic impairment, however only age and dysglycemia remained independently associated after adjustment.

- Familial 46,XY disorder of sex development due to a novel CYB5A variant: a rare cause of isolated 17,20-lyase deficiency. [Case Reports]
- Primary amenorrhea may be the first clinical presentation of an underlying 46,XY disorder of sex development (DSD). We report 2 siblings assigned female at birth; the index case presented with primary amenorrhea and the younger sibling was identified through family screening. Both had female external genitalia with minimal virilization, absent Mullerian structures, and testes located in the ingui…

- Current perspectives on the pharmacologic treatment of boys and adolescents with congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. [Review]Expert Opin Pharmacother. 2026 Sep 30; :1-13. [Online ahead of print]EO
- Congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (CHH) in boys and adolescents requires age- and developmentally appropriate treatment to address androgen deficiency, testicular maturation, pubertal development, and ultimately fertility. The dynamic physiology of the hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular axis necessitates therapeutic strategies that differ substantially between infancy and adolescence.

- Key Findings on the Efficacy and Safety of Testosterone Therapy from Two Large Randomized Trials. [Journal Article]J Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2026 Sep 26. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: Results from the T Trials and TRAVERSE trial showed that testosterone therapy improves sexual function and mood but not vitality or physical function. Importantly, it did not increase MACE in men at high risk of cardiovascular disease. Based on these data, treatment with testosterone could be considered in middle-aged and older men with syndromic androgen deficiency to target symptoms where it has demonstrated efficacy, whereas therapies other than testosterone might be warranted for outcomes that were not improved by testosterone.

- Exploring Provider Knowledge and Attitudes Toward Opioid-Induced Androgen Deficiency Through the Lens of the Theory of Planned Behavior. [Journal Article]Subst Use Addctn J. 2026 Sep 26; :29767342261469763. [Online ahead of print]SU
- CONCLUSIONS: OPIAD is not routinely evaluated or treated by medical providers who care for patients who use opioids. Low self-efficacy is the primary barrier to OPIAD screening, and training deficits contribute to this care gap. Targeted education on OPIAD may increase evaluation and treatment of this condition.

- Association between a novel nutritional-inflammatory index and testosterone levels: a cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]
- Testosterone deficiency (TD) has been closely associated with systemic inflammation and metabolic disturbances. The C-reactive protein-albumin-lymphocyte (CALLY) index is a composite biomarker integrating inflammatory, nutritional, and immune parameters. However, its association with TD remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the CALLY index and TD in adult men.

- Abdominal Obesity, Testosterone Deficiency and Sedentary Lifestyle in Young Men from the General Population: The Relationship with Semen Quality, Hormonal and Metabolic Status. [Journal Article]
- Background: The demographic crisis observed in industrialized countries has been accompanied by a decline in the reproductive potential of human populations. One of the causes for the global deterioration in men's reproductive health is adiposity and sedentary lifestyle, leading to reduced fertility and a decrease in androgen status. The aim of the study was to assess the association between abdo…

- Iron Deficiency in Endocrine Diseases and the Therapeutic Role of Liposomal Iron: A Comprehensive Review. [Review]
- Iron deficiency (ID) represents one of the most prevalent nutritional disorders worldwide, affecting approximately 1.2 billion individuals. Beyond its well-established hematological consequences, emerging evidence demonstrates that ID profoundly impacts endocrine function across multiple organ systems. Iron serves as an essential cofactor for numerous enzymes involved in hormone synthesis, metabo…

- Testosterone Undecanoate Significantly Reduces Low Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol and Triglycerides in Men With Adult-Onset Testosterone Deficiency. [Journal Article]Andrology. 2026 Sep 25. [Online ahead of print]A
- CONCLUSIONS: In this long-term, real-world registry, TC, TG, and LDL-cholesterol decreased in the TU-treated men with baseline values predicting the change, whilst a gradual increase was observed in the TU-untreated men. Using published data, the relative risk reduction in CVD due to LDL-cholesterol reduction is estimated to be around 40%.

- Supraphysiological Testosterone Differentially Regulates Aortic Atheroma and Cardiac Remodelling in the Testicular Feminised Mouse. [Journal Article]
- The cardiovascular actions of testosterone remain controversial, particularly regarding the safety of testosterone replacement therapy (TTh) in hypogonadal men. We investigated the effects of sustained supraphysiological testosterone exposure on aortic atherogenesis and cardiac remodelling in the testicular feminised (Tfm) mouse, a model of functional androgen receptor (AR) deficiency. Male Tfm m…

- Serum 11-ketotestosterone is associated with overall disease-control status but adds limited information beyond androstenedione in children with 21-hydroxylase deficiency. [Journal Article]
- Monitoring children with 21-hydroxylase deficiency (21-OHD) requires suppression of adrenal androgen excess while avoiding glucocorticoid overtreatment. However, the clinical value of serum 11-oxygenated androgens beyond established biomarkers remains uncertain. We evaluated whether serum 11-ketotestosterone (11KT) is associated with overall disease-control status and whether it provides incremen…

- Sex-based differences in the gut-metabolism axis in aging and Nrf2-deficient mice. [Journal Article]
- Hallmarks of aging are highly variable among individuals, and sexual dimorphism may contribute to these differences. However, the details are unclear. The gut-metabolism axisin naturally aging wild-type and Nrf2 knockout (KO) mouse models was investigated. In this study, intraperitoneal glucose tolerance tests were performed on 12- and 48-week-old wild-type and Nrf2 KO mice to assess glucose toler…

- Objective: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and nonclassic congenital adrenal hyperplasia (NCAH) overlap clinically, but direct comparative data specifically addressing non-National Institutes of Health (non-NIH) Rotterdam phenotypes of polycystic ovary syndrome are limited. We compared women with polycystic ovary syndrome, of whom 66.7% were classified as having non-NIH Rotterdam phenotypes, wit…

- Persistent Secondary Hypogonadism Following Chronic Opioid and Anabolic Steroid Exposure: A Case Report of Long-Term Testosterone Replacement Therapy and Its Complications. [Case Reports]
- Secondary hypogonadism is a clinically significant consequence of hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis suppression and may result from multiple exposures, including chronic opioid and anabolic steroid use. Long-term treatment strategies for persistent secondary hypogonadism, particularly testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and its complications, remain incompletely characterized. This cas…
