- Mucosal disease associated with BVDV-1b and BVDV-1e in cattle in Southern Brazil. [Case Reports]
- Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is an important pathogen of the global cattle industry. Fetal infection during the period of immunotolerance may result in the birth of persistently infected (PI) animals. In such animals, the emergence of or superinfection with cytopathic variants may trigger mucosal disease (MD). The objective of this study was to characterize the anatomopathological and virol…

- Immune-related Plasma Proteins Associated with Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis Identified by Mendelian Randomization and Clinical Validation. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This integrative study combining genetic analysis, single-cell transcriptomics, and clinical validation identified IL17A, MMP1, and IL2RA as key immune-related molecules associated with RAS. Among them, IL17A showed the strongest genetic evidence and may serve as a promising biomarker and potential therapeutic target for RAS.

- Association between oral ulcerative lesions, oral infections, and fever during the pre-engraftment phase after hematopoietic cell transplantation: results from the Orastem study. [Multicenter Study]
- CONCLUSIONS: Fever was common during the pre-engraftment phase after HCT and significantly associated with the extent of oral ulcerations. In contrast, pre-HCT dental and oral conditions showed no association with post-HCT fever, highlighting the specific role of mucosal injury in febrile episodes.

- Tocilizumab-associated oral ulcerations: a case report and scoping review. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Oral ulcerative events are infrequently reported during TCZ therapy and may be underrecognized; however, the available evidence is heterogeneous and does not establish a uniform clinical phenotype or a definitive causal relationship. Pre-existing disease-related ulceration should be distinguished from newly occurring treatment-emergent events. Careful assessment of temporal relationships, underlying disease, concomitant therapies, and alternative etiologies is important when evaluating oral ulceration in patients receiving TCZ.

- Desquamative Gingivitis: A Narrative Review of Practical Diagnostic Approach for General Dental Practitioners. [Review]
- Desquamative gingivitis (DG) is a clinical sign characterized by gingival erythema, epithelial desquamation, and erosion rather than a discrete diagnosis. It most commonly reflects underlying oral lichen planus, mucous membrane pemphigoid, or pemphigus vulgaris. As affected patients typically present to general dental practitioners, timely recognition and structured triage are essential for effec…

- A case series of necrotizing periodontal diseases in hospitalized patients: What hasn't been said yet? [Case Reports]Clin Adv Periodontics. 2026 Sep 12. [Online ahead of print]CA
- CONCLUSIONS: NPDs in hospitalized immunocompromised patients may present atypically and involve non-classical pathogens. Early recognition and individualized multidisciplinary management are essential to prevent disease progression and systemic complications.

- Detection of in vivo IgG1 antinuclear antibodies may have diagnostic utility in oral biopsies from patients with suspected chronic ulcerative stomatitis or systemic autoimmune connective tissue disease. [Journal Article]Oral Surg Oral Med Oral Pathol Oral Radiol. 2026 Dec; 142(6):981-990.OS
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings indicate that detecting IgG1 may improve diagnostic sensitivity for CUS and ACTDs in oral biopsies.

- Radiation-induced oral mucositis: Correlation between clinician-assessed WHO grades and patient-reported outcomes, an exploratory prospective observational pilot study. [Journal Article]Cancer Radiother. 2026 May; 30(3):104855.CR
- CONCLUSIONS: Patient-reported outcome measure symptoms scale strongly complement World Health Organization grading, capturing symptom escalation and functional impairments under-recognized by clinician assessment. Findings support the need for larger multicentre studies integrating clinician and patient assessments.

- Stratified discharge timing within mucositis cases and its association with systemic complications in hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients: insights from a national inpatient study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Prolonged discharge timing in HCT patients with OUM is independently associated with substantial systemic morbidity, including septicemia-related complications. Discharge-based stratification highlights high-risk periods amenable to targeted supportive interventions to mitigate complications and facilitate earlier safe discharge.

- The burden and unique patterns of extraintestinal manifestations in Chinese inflammatory bowel disease: a nationwide multicenter investigation. [Multicenter Study]
- Extraintestinal manifestations (EIMs) are a significant disease burden in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). However, large-scale epidemiological data from the Chinese population remain scarce. This nationwide, multicenter, retrospective cross-sectional study included 2,252 adult IBD inpatients from 10 clinical centers. Data on demographics, clinical features, and EIMs were collected and analyzed …

- Atypical manifestation of necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis in a healthy patient. [Case Reports]J Indian Soc Periodontol. 2026; 30(1):165-169.JI
- Necrotizing periodontal disease encompasses a range of conditions marked by necrosis and ulceration. Necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis is a unique type of periodontal disease that starts quickly and severely. It is caused by a number of risk factors, including stress, poor nutrition, conditions that weaken the immune system, and bad oral hygiene. The 2017 classification has redefined this conditi…

- Prevalence of oral recurrent aphthous stomatitis and its association with stress among a sample of Egyptian dental students: a cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This research underscored a notable prevalence of RAS among dental students. It also identified familial history of aphthous stomatitis, presence of other dental issues, and regular daily toothbrushing as the three primary risk factors for aphthous lesions. Stress levels did not show a significant association with RAS lesions among dental students. Given that RAS is a multifactorial condition, further investigation into additional intervening factors is warranted.

- Unilateral partial-mouth extraction achieves complete clinical remission in cats with unilateral caudal feline chronic gingivostomatitis: a case series. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: In carefully selected cats with unilateral caudal FCGS, unilateral PME may provide favorable clinical outcomes as a less invasive surgical alternative. These preliminary findings suggest that the extent of dental extraction may be tailored to the distribution of inflammatory lesions. Larger prospective studies are needed to validate these observations and to establish evidence-based criteria for selecting candidates suitable for unilateral PME.

- Oral Manifestations in Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. [Review]Dent J (Basel). 2026 Apr 23; 14(5).DJ
- Background/Objectives: Oral manifestations are recognized extra-intestinal features of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); however, their prevalence and clinical relevance remain controversial. This study aims to quantify the prevalence of individual oral outcomes in IBD patients and to evaluate their association with the disease compared with healthy controls. Methods: A systematic review was cond…
