- Symptoms improvement and lung function benefits of fixed triple therapy with beclomethasone/formoterol/glycopyrronium inhalation powder in patients with moderate-to-severe COPD: outcomes of the Bulgarian arm of the RESPONSE study. [Journal Article]J Thorac Dis. 2026 Sep 30; 18(9):1039.JT
- CONCLUSIONS: The RESPONSE study showed that switching to BDP/FF/GB DPI was associated with clinically meaningful improvements in symptoms, lung function, and adherence in COPD patients inadequately controlled on dual therapy, supporting its role as a practical escalation option in routine care.

- GPR97-Gα12-mTORC1 signaling drives myotube hypertrophy: identification of 5-hydroxy-7-methoxyflavone as a pathway activator. [Journal Article]Arch Biochem Biophys. 2026 Nov; 785:110964.AB
- Elucidating novel signaling pathways that drive myotube hypertrophy may provide new insights into the mechanisms regulating skeletal muscle growth. We previously reported that 5-hydroxy-7-methoxyflavone (HMF) induces hypertrophy of murine C2C12 myotubes; however, the underlying molecular mechanism remains unclear. Here, loss- and gain-of-function analyses revealed that GPR97 positively regulates …

- Particle engineering, aerosol physics, and pulmonary deposition of single-inhaler triple ICS/LABA/LAMA therapies in obstructive airway diseases. [Review]
- Single-inhaler triple therapy (SITT) combining an inhaled corticosteroid, long-acting β2-agonist, and long-acting muscarinic antagonist (ICS/LABA/LAMA) represents the current ceiling of inhaled pharmacotherapy for moderate-to-very-severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and severe uncontrolled asthma. Five device platforms are currently approved: two extrafine formulations delivering beclome…

Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health: Ottawa (ON).BOOK
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic lung disease associated with inflammation and obstruction of the airways. COPD progresses through 4 stages of increasing airflow limitation — mild, moderate, severe, and very severe — with symptoms and functional limitations worsening at each stage. Symptoms include difficulty in breathing, cough, and flare-ups (exacerbations) that may req…
- From alpha to beta: a two-step strategy for stereoinversion of C16 glucocorticoids. [Journal Article]Org Biomol Chem. 2026 Aug 19; 24(32):6621-6626.OB
- C16-Methylcorticoids are important anti-inflammatory agents whose activity depends on the C16 methyl configuration. However, access to C16β analogues remains challenging. Herein, we report the first concise two-step stereoinversion of C16α-methylcorticoids to C16β diastereomers through C17 hydroxyl elimination followed by Mn-catalyzed Mukaiyama hydration. Betamethasone, beclomethasone, clobetasol…

- Economic Burden and Cost Differences Between Branded and Generic Topical Antifungals in India. [Journal Article]Cureus. 2026 Jun; 18(6):e111392.C
- CONCLUSIONS: The market for topical antifungal agents demonstrates substantial price variation among available products. Regulatory authorities, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and clinicians must collaborate to achieve optimal reductions in drug costs. Strict implementation of cost regulation policies, along with increased awareness among clinicians regarding the rational selection of cost-effective therapies, is essential.

- Real-World Effectiveness and Safety of Extrafine Triple Therapy in COPD Patients with Comorbid and Cardiovascular Conditions. [Journal Article]Int J Chron Obstruct Pulmon Dis. 2026; 21:603262.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This analysis provides real-world evidence supporting extrafine BDP/FF/GB SITT as an effective and safe option for COPD patients with comorbidities, including CV history or risk. These findings help address an evidence gap in vulnerable populations and support timely initiation of SITT in high-risk patients in clinical practice.

- Inhaled budesonide and beclomethasone for the prevention and treatment of bronchopulmonary dysplasia in very preterm infants: a prospective randomized controlled trial. [Clinical Trial]Front Pediatr. 2026; 14:1818492.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: Inhaled budesonide and beclomethasone after the first week of life can shorten the total duration of respiratory support in very preterm infants at high risk of BPD, aged > 7 days and still require non-invasive respiratory support, without increasing the incidence of adverse outcomes, demonstrating high safety. However, inhaled budesonide and beclomethasone do not show significant advantages in reducing the incidence and severity of BPD.
