- Heavy metal - habitual licking of a lead tape as rare cause of chronic lead poisoning: a case report. [Case Reports]Front Pediatr. 2026; 14:1909793.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: Lead intoxication should remain a differential diagnosis despite its decreasing incidence. Its clinical presentation can mimic porphyria, and lead-induced encephalopathy may resemble PRES.

- Design and application of an enteral nutrition nursing checklist based on whole-course nutrition management in critically ill neurological patients. [Journal Article]Front Nutr. 2026; 13:1852899.FN
- CONCLUSIONS: Implementation of an EN nursing checklist based on whole-course nutrition management appeared to be associated with improved EN tolerance, particularly in the primary outcome of EN intolerance score, and suggested reduced feeding interruptions and more favorable short-term clinical outcomes. These findings warrant validation in larger randomized controlled trials.

- Immune checkpoint blockade reshapes drug-associated toxicity: a pharmacovigilance atlas of drug-ICI interactions. [Journal Article]medRxiv. 2026 Sep 19.M
- CONCLUSIONS: Checkpoint blockade was associated not simply with additional toxicity, but with a change in treatment context: drug-phenotype associations shifted in both directions, adverse events formed cross-organ structure and documented onset varied by checkpoint pathway. These findings support ICIs as modifiers of drug toxicity and identify specific signals for longitudinal and mechanistic validation.

- Hypomagnesemia as a reversible complication of cyclosporine in pediatric nephrotic syndrome: a case report. [Case Reports]Child Kidney Dis. 2025 Oct; 29(3):142-148.CK
- Calcineurin inhibitors remain a cornerstone in the treatment of steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS) in pediatric patients. Hypomagnesemia, a clinically relevant yet frequently neglected complication of calcineurin inhibitors like cyclosporine, may exacerbate hypokalemia and induce neuromuscular symptoms such as tetany, challenging patient management. However, serum magnesium is not routin…

- Ultrasound-Guided Serratus Anterior Plane Block in Pediatric Microtia Reconstruction: A Systematic Review and Single-Arm Meta-Analysis. [Journal Article]J Craniofac Surg. 2026 Sep 24. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: Ultrasound-guided SAPB provides consistent early donor-site analgesia in pediatric microtia reconstruction, reducing supplemental opioid requirements and supporting favorable recovery profiles without increasing procedural complications. These findings support its integration into multimodal perioperative analgesia strategies for this population.

- Predictors and risk factors of typhoid fever in urban informal settlements of Nairobi, Kenya. [Journal Article]BMC Infect Dis. 2026 Sep 15; 26(1).BI
- A clear understanding of the risk factors and key predictors of typhoid fever in endemic, low-resource settings is essential for informing effective prevention strategies and guiding empiric patient management. This study aimed to identify the predictors and risk factors linked to culture-confirmed typhoid fever in Mukuru informal settlements in Nairobi, Kenya. Between November 2020 and July 2025…

- Effectiveness, safety and acceptability of mifepristone compared with other interventions in reproductive-age women using emergency contraception for the prevention of pregnancy: a systematic review and meta-analysis. [Systematic Review]BMJ Sex Reprod Health. 2026 Sep 23; 52(Suppl 2):s3-s12.BS
- CONCLUSIONS: Mifepristone is an effective emergency contraceptive, potentially more effective than commonly used oral EC methods, with a favourable side effect profile aside from delayed menstruation.

- Efficacy, safety and acceptability of once-monthly oral contraceptives containing quinestrol and quingestanol, quinestrol and levonorgestrel or quinestrol and norgestrel: a systematic review. [Systematic Review]BMJ Sex Reprod Health. 2026 Sep 23; 52(Suppl 2):s23-s32.BS
- CONCLUSIONS: Available evidence is limited; the risk-benefit profile of quinestrol-based once-monthly oral contraceptives remains uncertain. Their clinical use should be cautious, and high-quality studies are needed to clarify their safety and efficacy.

- Spontaneous renal pelvis perforation in an adolescent with a solitary kidney. [Case Reports]Turk J Pediatr. 2026 Sep 11; 68(4):710-714.TJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Spontaneous renal pelvis perforation remains a rare entity in the pediatric population, with limited cases documented in the literature. This case emphasizes the importance of early recognition, timely imaging, and appropriate urinary drainage to prevent long-term renal impairment. In pediatric patients with a solitary kidney, close monitoring and a multidisciplinary approach are crucial to optimizing outcomes.

- A case of neonatal galactosemia presenting with rare hematologic problems: factor V deficiency and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis. [Case Reports]Turk J Pediatr. 2026 Sep 11; 68(4):695-699.TJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Neonatal galactosemia can lead to secondary HLH and transient FV deficiency. Our experience suggests that FV deficiency in neonates with galactosemia may develop secondary to liver damage and/or impaired glycosylation, and resolves with adequate treatment of the underlying disease.

- The face of pediatric and adult brain abscesses, differences and clinical characteristics: a single center 10-year experience. [Journal Article]Turk J Pediatr. 2026 Sep 11; 68(4):594-602.TJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that a high index of suspicion should be maintained for BA in children, especially in the presence of fever, vomiting, and seizures. This study highlights significant clinical and etiological differences between pediatric and adult BA, underscoring the importance of age-specific diagnostic and management strategies. The differences observed in clinical presentation and underlying causes between the two groups warrant further investigation to improve outcomes.
