- Impact of hypertension and antihypertensive medications on early implant failure following sinus augmentation. [Journal Article]Dent Med Probl. 2026; 63(4):875-883.DM
- CONCLUSIONS: Hypertension was not a significant risk factor for EIF following sinus augmentation. However, beta-blocker therapy was associated with an increased risk of failure, whereas other antihypertensive agents, including diuretics, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs), angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), and calcium channel blockers (CCBs), were not significantly associated with EIF.

- Antiarrhythmic Drug Therapy in Cardiomyopathies: A Comparative Synthesis of Guidelines and Consensus Documents. [Review]
- Antiarrhythmic drug therapy in cardiomyopathies remains challenging because arrhythmic risk, drug efficacy, and pro-arrhythmic vulnerability vary substantially across phenotypes. This review summarizes contemporary guideline and consensus recommendations on antiarrhythmic drug use in hypertrophic, dilated, non-dilated left ventricular, and arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathies.

- Portal Vein Thrombosis Risk in Cirrhotic Patients With Portal Hypertension on Beta-Blockers: A Multi-Institutional Cohort Study. [Multicenter Study]
- CONCLUSIONS: Propranolol use was linked to increased PVT risk, while carvedilol did not elevate PVT risk and was associated with improved survival. Beta-blocker selection may meaningfully influence outcomes in cirrhosis.

- Administration of nebivolol after subcutaneous ovarian autotransplantation improves neoangiogenesis, follicular survival, and growth in mice. [Journal Article]Reprod Fertil Dev. 2026 Sep 04; 38(13).RF
- CONCLUSIONS: Overall, our findings suggested that nebivolol treatment has promising therapeutic potential to preserve ovarian function and promote neoangiogenesis, particularly in poorly vascularized transplantation sites.

- Carvedilol attenuates PTZ-induced epileptogenesis: associations with hippocampal neuroinflammation and PI3K/AKT/mTOR-related alterations. [Journal Article]
- Epileptogenesis is increasingly recognized as a multifactorial process driven by persistent neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and dysregulated intracellular signaling, highlighting the need for therapeutic strategies that extend beyond symptomatic seizure control. The present study investigated the potential effects of prophylactic carvedilol administration on behavioral seizure progression an…

- Targeting the Neuro-Immune Axis in Next-Generation Oncology: Discovery and Validation of β2-Adrenergic Blockade to Reverse Ecosystem-Wide Resistance. [Review]
- Despite the potential of current cancer immunotherapies, tumor cells frequently evade immune surveillance by forming an immunosuppressive microenvironment, leading to treatment resistance. Current inquiry positions the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) at the forefront of tumor immunology as a critical driver of this immune evasion. This review delineates the cellular pharmacology of SNS-mediated …

- Propranolol improves cognitive function and glymphatic system recovery through STAT3/MMP2 pathway after TBI. [Journal Article]
- There is no effective treatment for cognitive impairment after traumatic brain injury (TBI). Previous studies have demonstrated that propranolol may improve cognitive function. The glymphatic system plays a crucial role in cognitive impairment after TBI. Thus, we explored the mechanism by which propranolol improves cognitive function and promotes glymphatic system recovery after TBI. In vivo, rat…

- Comparison of Labetalol With Versus Without Magnesium Sulfate on Intraoperative Blood Pressure Variability During Cesarean Delivery in Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy: A Retrospective Cohort Study. [Journal Article]Ann Ital Chir. 2026 Aug 13; 97(8):1471-1479.AI
- CONCLUSIONS: For HDP patients undergoing cesarean delivery, the perioperative application of a combined regimen of labetalol and magnesium sulfate, compared with labetalol alone, was associated with more stable intraoperative blood pressure, reduced variability under surgical stress, and improved early neonatal outcomes. This combined regimen provides valuable clinical reference for optimizing perioperative blood pressure management during cesarean delivery.

- Preparation of a new fixed-combination carteolol-netarsudil ophthalmic solution via one-pot pH-adjusting solubilization strategy for glaucoma treatment. [Journal Article]
- Currently, the commercial fixed-combination of two agents is facing several clinical challenges, including suboptimal intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction, which requires multiple daily administrations, compromised bioavailability due to rapid tear film clearance and nasolacrimal drainage, and preservative-induced ocular surface toxicity. To address these limitations, we intend to develop a novel…

- Pattern of use of conventional medical treatments of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction in end-stage hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. [Multicenter Study]Int J Cardiol. 2026 Nov 01; 462:134721.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: While BB and RASi are commonly used in ES-HCM, MRA and SGLT2i are prescribed less frequently and in patients with a worse clinical profile. Combination of all classes is not common, suggesting both clinical inertia and limitations inherent to the disease pathophysiology.

- Secondary prevention of myocardial infarction in people with dementia: a multi-jurisdictional retrospective cohort study in Asia, Europe and the USA. [Multicenter Study]
- CONCLUSIONS: For people with dementia, using one or two guideline-recommended medications appeared sufficient to protect against recurrent MI and MACE. Beta-blockers may not provide additional survival benefits over statins and RASIs.

- Fluorescence Analysis of Propranolol Hydrochloride Using Mercaptoacetic Acid-Capped Cadmium Sulfide Quantum Dots and Mechanism of Reaction Process. [Journal Article]Luminescence. 2026 Aug; 41(8):e70596.L
- Propranolol hydrochloride (PRO-HCl), a nonselective β-adrenergic receptor blocker, is widely utilized in the treatment of various medical conditions including hypertension, angina pectoris, cardiac arrhythmias, migraine prophylaxis, and certain anxiety disorders. In this study, we developed a simple, convenient, and sensitive quantitative detection method for PRO-HCl in aqueous environments, base…

- A novel spectrofluorimetric method for sensitive determination of labetalol hydrochloride was developed based on photoinduced electron transfer (PET) blocking mechanism through acidification-induced fluorescence enhancement. Upon acidification, the secondary amine functionality of labetalol undergoes protonation, resulting in five-fold fluorescence enhancement at 415-nm emission when excited at 2…

- The Use of Cardiotonic Drugs in Neonates. [Review]Clin Perinatol. 2026 Sep; 53(3):631-651.CP
- This overview provides a summary of the commonly used vasoactive agents and the various clinical scenarios in which they are used in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The lack of well-designed clinical trials in this vulnerable population means that these agents continue to be administered without sufficient evidence-based knowledge on their dosing, safety, efficacy and long-term effects. …
