- Inhibition of the NR4A1-mediated cell cycle checkpoint enhances hyperplastic adipogenesis and glucose homeostasis in obesity. [Journal Article]Br J Pharmacol. 2026 Oct 02. [Online ahead of print]BJ
- CONCLUSIONS: NR4A1 functions as a transcriptional gatekeeper of adipogenic initiation by restraining the Anln/Cdc20 cell-cycle program. Pharmacological modulation of the NR4A1-cell-cycle axis, particularly alongside PPARγ activation, may offer a strategy to augment adipose tissue plasticity and metabolic resilience in obesity.

- Disruption of paramyosin compromises muscle integrity and alters systemic trehalose metabolism in Helicoverpa armigera. [Journal Article]Insect Mol Biol. 2026 Oct 02. [Online ahead of print]IM
- Trehalose is a principal circulating sugar in insects, maintaining a critical balance between energy supply and storage through systemic insulin signalling. Among different tissues, insect muscle functions as a metabolic hub, coordinating trehalose utilization and glucose uptake to sustain energy homeostasis. In Helicoverpa armigera, we examined whether paramyosin (key muscle gene) silencing infl…

- DUSP4 activates adipocyte thermogenesis via CRTC3 dephosphorylation-dependent UCP1 expression. [Journal Article]Exp Mol Med. 2026 Oct 02. [Online ahead of print]EM
- Obesity arises when a chronic energy surplus overwhelms the storage capacity of adipocytes and subsequently causes systemic metabolic dysfunction. Adaptive thermogenesis, primarily mediated by uncoupling protein 1 (Ucp1) in adipocytes, serves to counteract obesity by dissipating excess energy as heat. Despite extensive studies on thermogenic regulation, the phosphatases that regulate this protect…

- Transcriptomic profiling of peripheral blood cells during mandibular fracture healing: the iBeam study. [Journal Article]Bone. 2026 Oct 02; :118116. [Online ahead of print]BONE
- The immune response is essential in shaping bone healing outcomes and is of particular interest in mandible fractures, as opposed to other fractures, because of the presence of teeth that are colonised by a multitude of microbes that can cause infection or complicate healing. This study investigated the peripheral blood cell transcriptome during mandibular fracture healing phases with particular …

- SERINC2: From membrane lipid synthesis to human disease. [Review]Life Sci. 2026 Oct 02; :124718. [Online ahead of print]LS
- CONCLUSIONS: Current evidence supports SERINC2 as an emerging, context-dependent disease-associated membrane protein whose membrane lipid regulatory functions may influence disease phenotypes. Clarifying tissue-specific mechanisms will determine whether SERINC2-associated pathways have clinical biomarker or therapeutic relevance.

- Caffeic acid phenethyl ester inhibits adipogenic differentiation in association with INSR suppression and AMPK activation. [Journal Article]Biochim Biophys Acta Gene Regul Mech. 2026 Oct 02; :195186. [Online ahead of print]BB
- CONCLUSIONS: CAPE suppresses adipogenic differentiation by modulating upstream regulators of the AMPK signaling pathway. These findings provide mechanistic insight into the anti-adipogenic actions of CAPE and highlight its therapeutic potential for metabolic disorders involving adipose tissue dysfunction.

- Current Understanding of Genetic Architecture of Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) - 2026 Update. [Review]Fertil Steril. 2026 Oct 02. [Online ahead of print]FS
- Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS; formerly known as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, PCOS) is a common, heterogeneous endocrinopathy of reproductive-age women with a frequency of 5-26% worldwide. PMOS is characterized by hyperandrogenemia, ovulatory dysfunction, and polycystic ovarian morphology. A systematic search of the NHGRI-EBI GWAS Catalog and the literature in PubMed identified 17 …

- Structural characterization and insulin resistance-improving activity of glucomannogalactan from Volvariella volvacea. [Journal Article]Int J Biol Macromol. 2026 Oct 02; :154727. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- The polysaccharide VVPI-3a (21.8 kDa) from Volvariella volvacea was isolated and identified, and its insulin resistance-improving activity was evaluated in insulin-resistant HepG2 (IR-HepG2) cells. VVPI-3a is composed of unsubstituted residues including →6)-α-D-Galp-(1→, →6)-α-D-(3-O-Me)-Galp-(1→, →2)-β-D-Galp-(1→, →6)-β-D-Galp-(1→ and →6)-β-D-(3-O-Me)-Galp-(1→. It also contains monosubstituted r…

- Sex hormone-binding globulin increases lumbar fracture risk via bone density, inflammation, and insulin pathways: A Mendelian randomization study. [Journal Article]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Oct 02; 105(40):e50961.M
- Circulating sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) regulates bioavailable sex hormones that influence bone metabolism. We investigated whether genetically higher SHBG increases lumbar fracture (LF) risk and identified the biological pathways mediating this effect, including bone mineral density (BMD), C-reactive protein (CRP), and insulin use. A two-sample bidirectional and mediation Mendelian rando…

- Prevalence of metabolic syndrome among patients with Alzheimer disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis. [Systematic Review]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Oct 02; 105(40):e50670.M
- CONCLUSIONS: MetS was frequently observed among patients with AD; however, the pooled prevalence estimate should be interpreted cautiously because of substantial between-study heterogeneity. The comparative analysis did not demonstrate a statistically significant association between AD and MetS. Further studies using standardized definitions and more homogeneous populations are needed to clarify this relationship and the sources of heterogeneity.

- Beyond Type 1 Diabetes: Clinical and Genetic Clues to Glucokinase Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young in Children. [Journal Article]Turk Arch Pediatr. 2026 Jul 20; 61(10):886-895.TA
- CONCLUSIONS: Diagnostic delay and inappropriate treatment were common before recognition of GCK-MODY, and many cases were identified after incidentally detected hyperglycemia. Lack of screening among relatives indicates limited awareness of this condition. In children with atypical diabetes presentations, careful evaluation and timely genetic testing are essential to prevent misdiagnosis, avoid unnecessary therapy, and ensure appropriate long-term clinical management.
