Lipase

General

Synonym/Acronym:
Triacylglycerol acylhydrolase.

Common Use:
To assess for pancreatic disease related to inflammation, tumor, or cyst, specific to the diagnosis of pancreatitis.

Specimen:
Serum (1 mL) collected in a red- or tiger-top tube. Plasma (1 mL) collected in a green-top (heparin) tube is also acceptable.

Normal Findings:
(Method: Enzymatic spectrophotometry)

Conventional & SI Units
Newborn–older adult
0–60 units/L
