Evidence-based answers with  powerful technology.

Unbound Surgery -- published by Unbound Medicine -- is an innovative digital resource that combines evidence-based clinical content and leading edge technology. It offers comprehensive information that is specifically engineered to provide detailed, focused answers to diagnostic and therapeutic surgical questions.

Unbound Surgery is authored by 100 expert content contributors from top surgery programs across the United States and is edited by a team lead by Theodore N. Pappas, MD, professor and vice chairman of Duke University's Department of Surgery.

The pragmatic and evidence-based answers found in Unbound Surgery are enhanced by Unbound Medicine's information architectures, enabling the content to be easily navigated and retrieved in the clinic, at the bedside, or anywhere surgical questions arise.

The Web version, which is fully integrated with the PDA version, allows the users to browse and search the contents with a minimum of navigation. Sophisticated structuring of the content and a powerful "structured searching" engine, allows the desired "chunk" of information to be found with little effort. Users can save searches and specific topics both from the Web and handheld into their Web library and manage that information in personal folders over time.

The PDA version allows users to view answers via Alphabetic, Test or Therapy indexes. In addition, requests for more information on the handheld are transmitted to the user's Web Library where more in-depth information from Unbound Surgery or Medline can be retrieved.

"Unbound Surgery represents a new approach to managing surgical information through the application of state-of-the-art information technology. I believe it sets a new standard. The development and application of new methods of information management resources will for the basis of evidence-based surgery and lead to cost effective care that is of the highest quality and will result in the best outcome for patients."
